Great place to stay for our overnight as we head down south. I can't say much for amenities as we arrived when it was dark and left in the morning. We had a pull-through site, which was nice. The sites are closer together than other parks we've stayed at. Close, as in our steps were about two feet away from the neighboring sewer hookup.
A recent camping trip to Asheboro took us to Zooland Family Campground. What a pleasant experience. The grounds are well maintained and the pull through sites a plus. We were there on 2 weekdays in November so the campground was extremely quiet, although I imagine weekends get pretty busy! The bath house and laundry area was spotless and a nice bonus—the bath house was heated!!! Although we did not have children with us the campground was well equipped with play areas for the little ones for those traveling with family. Camp store was well stocked and reasonably priced. Would definitely stay there again.
Our first time here and we were very impressed with the grounds and the Halloween decorations. Great location for the zoo and shopping. We were there on weekdays so no activities were scheduled. Our site, #20, was a disappointment, because it faced two roads and wasn't suitable for sitting outside or enjoying a campfire. There were many empty sites that were nicer, don't know why we were assigned such a poor site.
So much better than years past. We have been coming every Halloween for 7 years and watched the staff "permanent campers" get more and more controlling and hateful. This year everything was a breeze. Check in was simple and contactless. Sites were clean and ready. Staff was friendly and not at all overbearing. It was so nice to be back to the way things were originally and hopefully will stay. Thanks!
This campground is local to me but we camp a lot on the weekends for something to do. Our kids love it. The entire month of October is Halloween with many activities for the kids. The staff is friendly and make it a very safe environment for kids. It is clean and the sites are on the bottom side are very roomy. The only downside is that the bigger sites are not full hook up. They are just electric and water. The price is perfect for this location. Overall, this is a wonderful place to visit.
This was our first time visiting Zooland and camping at a RV camp site. The tent camping area was clean and we had no issues getting our tent set up. Kids loved all the various amenities (mini golf, bouncing bubble, gem mining, etc). We went during October where there were added Halloween events. Kids claimed it was the BEST haunted house! There is a nice hiking trail where we discovered many different mushrooms. Bathroom facilities were very clean. The staff was very kind and helpful when we had questions. Some other guests weren't the best about quiet hours but thankfully our kids were exhausted from activities and didn’t hear the partiers at midnight. It was also a little bright for tent camping with the RVs but guests were respectful when approached about dimming/turning off their bright RV porch lights. Overall it was a great experience and highly recommend checking it out
Have visited this campground on several occasions. Overall, each trip has been positive. With a playground, pool and other amenities it is very kid friendly, both big and small alike. While staying here you are in close proximity to the NC Zoo. The campsites are a little too close to each other, so don’t expect a lot of privacy. In addition, they are also not that level. My biggest issue actually is no fault of the campground. It is in close proximity to a very busy and loud highway. Cars constantly speed up and down the highway. It’s very disturbing especially at night.
Trips to Zooland during the Halloween season never disappoint. There is so much to do I don't know how anyone could be bored. Pumpkin carving contests, costume contests (with age group separation), trick or treating, haunted houses and hayrides. This place is one of our favorites.
The camper lots have just enough room, the tree coverage is great, and amenities are always clean!
