The 2 girls working the front desk were so helpful & waited for us to get there. Our booking site doesn’t allow them to just email the info. But they were so sweet. They gave great recommendations for where to eat & places to go around the area.
Only “complaint” is I’ve read they had an issue with roaches. Now we saw a few. They were dead or dying. It’s gotta be a nightmare for the site to deal with. But I can tell they’re trying. Only a few. They were dead or dying. Otherwise the rooms were fantastic!! Great locale and wonderfully comfy
Staff really made me feel welcome and elevated my experience. They stowed my bags and had them delivered to my room in time for checkin. Rooms were tidy and I felt very comfortable and at home. Shuttle is within walking distance and the visitor centre itself is not too far a walk. Close to grocery and restaurants. Only improvement I would suggest is the breakfast.
We recently stayed at Pioneer Lodge in Springdale during our visit to Zion National Park, and it was an excellent experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Ophelia at the front desk. She went above and beyond to ensure we received the price we saw online, which we greatly appreciated. Her friendly and accommodating attitude set the tone for a wonderful stay.
One of the standout features of the lodge is its pet-friendly policy. They allow dogs to stay and are okay with them being left alone in the room as long as they don’t bark or whine. This was such a relief for us, as it made exploring Zion stress-free, knowing our dog was comfortable back at the room.
The rooms were impressively clean, and the heated restroom was a fantastic touch, especially during the winter. After a long day of hiking, it was a delight to step out of a shower into a warm space—definitely a small but meaningful luxury.
The lodge’s Western-style exterior added so much character and charm to the experience, perfectly complementing the breathtaking surroundings. It’s conveniently located just 7 minutes from Zion’s visitor center, and if you prefer not to drive, there’s a shuttle stop right across the street that takes you straight into the park.
The town of Springdale itself is right outside the motel room door, and it’s walkable, charming, and cozy. It offers a small-town vibe with a friendly energy but still has all the modern amenities and conveniences you could need.
Overall, Pioneer Lodge is the perfect base for a Zion adventure. Clean rooms, thoughtful amenities, and an unbeatable location paired with outstanding service made our stay memorable. Highly recommend!
An older motel, but decent. The lobby smelled bad when we arrived, but was fine the next morning. The room was decent, clean, and rustic decor. Had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Bathroom was huge, but not much counter space. Breakfast was bagged and included a sausage n egg biscuit with yogurt, granola, and an apple. Only stayed one night, but were allowed to keep our vehicle parked for free all day while we visited the park.
UPDATE: after having found a cockroach in the bathroom I have to downgrade the experience. There also was no room service.

The baths are rundown and the rooms don’t offer much space, but other than that it’s worth for the money. Late Check-in is possible, they just leave the keys for you outside. Parking is included, the bus stop to the Zion Canyon is 2 walking minutes away. It’s best to park at the lodge and use the bus because parking in Zion is as good as not usable - absolutely full at 10 am even at the end of October
Check in was great as we arrived early, the gentleman checking us in was very friendly but the first warning sign was the angry German guests checking out.
The Housekeeping staff were polite and always offered more towels as we didn’t have our room serviced over the 4 days (our choice).
Rooms very dated, toilet flusher was broken in one of the bathrooms and the shower leaked. TV had limited channels
Beds were not attached to headboards and the AC was average and loud.
Internet cuts out every 10 mins like clockwork and is slow when working
Hot tub was out of action the but pool was open and the towels at the pool were full of holes and stains.
Ice machine was also out of order.
The other reception staff didn’t care when I shared my feedback or asked for assistance which is strange because all the other staff in all shops and restaurants in the town were super lovely and thankful for our custom.
The only great things about this place was the location in the centre of town and that we had a 3 bedroom option.
Had I done my research better I would have stayed elsewhere
I would not recommend this property at all
The location was great and the staff was kind but the accommodations were terrible! ... unless you like BUGS! Woke up to ROACHES in the middle of the first night. When my husband went to the office another customer was complaining about ANTS! They switched our room - more bugs - just not as many. The Wifi was spotty - worked in the parking lot and lost it in the room. Totally worthless. Toilet handle broke. It took 2 people on 2 occasions to get the TV to work. The TV remote never worked. We could not leave this place fast enough!
Great location in Springdale, right next to Zion. Easy access via the shuttle system up to the visitor centre and then into Zion (other shuttle across the bridge). Lovely little breakfast packages ready in the morning with a tea/coffee station. Pool is a little outdated but so refreshing after hiking Angel's Landing. Rooms was clean and very comfortable. Can leave car there up to 6pm the next day which is useful as Zion gets full early!
