**Restaurant Review: Zia Maria**
I recently dined at Zia Maria, drawn in by the inviting and modern photos I saw online. However, the actual experience was a bit of a letdown. The moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels rushed—it's clear they prioritize turning tables over creating a comfortable dining experience where you can enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace. It’s more of a “get in, eat, and get out” vibe.
The food was slightly above average, but honestly, it’s overpriced for what you get. The dishes were decent, but nothing that justified the cost. The noise level was also a big issue. It was so loud that I had to raise my voice to talk to my table companions, and even the waiters had to speak louder just to be heard. The staff, while efficient, seemed to be in a constant rush, reinforcing that feeling of getting diners out the door quickly rather than focusing on quality and hospitality.
To be fair, I’m giving Zia Maria 4 stars out of 5, though I believe it truly deserves 3. The food and service aren’t bad, but the rushed atmosphere, high prices, and noise level just take away from what could be a much better dining experience.
The service, food, and energy of this place is incredible. I got here when they were very busy, (they’re always busy because of how great they are) but they still managed to seat me almost immediately. The pasta was SO fresh, SO delicious, one of the best I had ever had.
Granito is an absolute pleasure and makes an incredibly demanding and difficult job look so smooth and effortless. Just do yourself the favor and come here. You will not be sorry.
My newly wedded wife and I came up to NYC for our honeymoon and stopped into Zia Maria’s; best decision of our entire trip. I have been coming to NYC for most of my life and this was the first trip into Maria’s and I did not regret it. The atmosphere is absolutely elegant with a flavor of old New York. The staff are inviting and welcoming to everyone who enters, and are very respectful to those who have questions. The menu is priced reasonably and the food portion is sizable enough that you will not need seconds. Everything about this restaurant is what you could want when delving into Little Italy and the beautiful culture of the area. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for authenticity and great atmosphere with amazing food.
Lively, fun atmosphere. Some of the best pizza we’ve had at a restaurant, and I think we are quite particular about our pies. Ravioli was enjoyed, as well. My only complaint is noise, but I am not from the city, so if you love the bustle and big noise, it’s perfect. Overall, thank you for your charming service and good food.
I was very excited for this food and they did not disappoint. The host made sure we were taken care of as we were waiting for a table. We got cocktails, the claim appetizer and pasta.
the bread was good too! I would definitely come back for more.
Ayman and Diego were phenomenal. Great service, amazing food quality, and the drinks immaculate. My friends and I are from NJ and decided to have a girls night tonight and stumbled upon this place. This is a must try restaurant! Highly recommend this place!
Zia Maria is AMAZING! I come back every time I'm in New York. The pizza is awesome... And if your kids only like cheese pizza, they love this pizza too. But it's REAL pizza. Love it, and everything else on the menu as well!
We got the penne vodka, the chicken piccata with spaghetti, the chicken francese, zia mia chicken special, the spinach salad, and the wine carafe. The best wine deal if you dont care about wine and just about getting drunk :) Everyone loved their dish. they devoured it in 10 minutes! Our waiter Fahd was so cute and funny - he made our time so special and fun for our wednesday night out.
