Growing up a few blocks from Rosenblatt resulted in Zesto’s being the ice cream shop of my childhood. I’m so glad I get to continue to enjoy their ice cream as an adult. Their malts are still my favorite to this day!
Food - was pretty good, mozzarella sticks and pickle fries are a must try and are some of my faves, the food is very expensive though, mozzarella sticks were almost $7 for 5 mozzarella sticks...even though they said it was 6 mozzarella sticks
Service - Very very slow, it appeared as though only two people were working in the entire shop, and the man who took my order was mumbling quietly and I had to ask him to repeat himself over 3 times for everything he said, and no it wasn't just me all the others who went up to the counter also had that experience, and one of the most frustrating things (even though it's not a big deal) was all the sauces were in the kitchen area, so you had to ask no big deal right? Wrong I waited at the counter for 10 minutes and no one came out of the kitchen I asked a couple times if anyone was there, I even walked away and came back to see if they had cameras but nada, and then when the man finally came out he immediately went to the drive thru ignoring me and the other people in line, and altogether they were quite rude and when asked questions would give snippy remarks, they seemed like they would rather be doing literally ANYTHING else but helping people at their job.
Atmosphere - like any other fast food place, has kind of a local restaurant vibe though, quite nice despite the employees.
We just moved to this area from Colorado and decided to try this place.
Menu selection was average. They had a section saying slushies. I asked the very young worker there what that was. She did not try to explain, so I asked if it was similar to icee slurpee and she said yes. I asked if it was similar to DQ slush. She said she didn't know.
I asked if I could see a SMALL sample(even a tablespoon) and that did not happen.
We ordered shakes instead.
I observed that they left a gallon of milk with the cap off for TWENTY minutes before putting it back in.
I shared this with the manager and his attitude was very flippant and caviar about this. He says we were so busy. However I didn't see them use the milk gallon for a period of time.
The "work station" was so filthy as you can see in photo.
Basically I left feeling we were not heard and our concerns were dismissed.
So be warned.
On a recommendation we visited Zesto.
No customers in the store and one vehicle in the drive thru.
Waited approximately 5 minutes to be waited on at the register. We saw five employees behind the counter, a couple talking to each other, one on a personal cell phone, one walking back and forth and another one preparing food for themselves. It wasn't until we questioned if we could order, then received a response yes, give them a moment.
Looking around while waiting, we couldn't help but notice the poor conditions of the dining area.
At this point I did not want to order, my friend proceeded to order a soft serve that was more liquid than creamy.
Definitely will not recommend.
First time I found this kind of soft Ice-cream (in India we call it Softie) dipped with flavours! We had Vanilla Ice-cream with waffle cones dipped with Butterscotch and Chocolate flavour. I loved both of them. We also ordered curly fries and they were good too. The place is mostly busy but there are enough sitting areas. If you haven’t tried this Ice-cream yet it’s a must try.
Spouse and I went with our son to get dipped ice cream cones and some pickle fries, hearing about how much of a staple the place was. We were very excited walking, seeing the variety of menu options and portion sizes.
Delivery dropped those expectations. Both my spouse and I received our "dipped cones", two gloopy cups full of half melted ice cream and topping, barely half the standard serving size. We were not given an option to remake or exchange. Our sons cone came out just fine.
Pickle fries were great, but service took a while. This place feels like it's on the verge of greatness, but quality control is lacking and it seems like they're disorganized.
This location used to be our favorite, but lately the service is awfully long. Just waited 20 minutes to order and we went inside. It’s been ten minutes since we ordered three small cones and still waiting… in addition, the counters are dirty and it looks like no one’s cleaned up for hours. I miss the good service and cleanliness of this location.
On 7/30/24, I came into Zesto’s in Irvington. It was three employees working. They waited on the two customers ahead of me. Then when he came to me, they walked away. One was saying something to the other one, and they both turned around and looked at me. Finally, the girl that was working drive-through came over and asked me if she could take my order and I told her that I thought I would have to go through drive-through to get what I needed. I had some fries with my order. The one that was saying something to the other employee came out of the kitchen and just dropped the bag on the counter and walked back into the kitchen, so I asked one of the girls if I could talk to the manager and the girl that dropped the fries on the counter came out And I said may I speak to the manager and she said I’m the manager and I was surprised. I said you’re very rude. I said normally when you bring a customers food out you say here you go or your order is ready and she says not when I’m busy. Are you serious? And this is who you have representing your business. There was no cars in the drive-through nor was there no one there in the lobby but me. Everyone else had been waited on. She’s was a bi-racial girl thats a senior at Westview. Very rude customer service. I just found out from one of the poor example of a manager classmates that she was suppose to have been my granddaughter’s mentor at Westview, which she did a poor job at not even speaking or being in any way a mentor at all, so because of her personal feelings towards my granddaughter was probably the reason for our poor customer service convincing the other employees to mistreat us as well. She WILL be removed from being anything to do with my granddaughter next year because she is not a good example or roll model I would want teaching my granddaughter anything. I appreciate your response and her actions nor attitude will detour me from coming back. Trust me.
