The staff was so sweet and catered to our needs promptly. I would say the food was great and was served fairly quickly. The Italian ice was phenomenal! I recommend the strawberry flavor, the raspberry was great too! The order of mussels had a spicy creamy sauce which made you want to have pasta or extra bread to soak. Some of my mussels were served closed so could have been some bad pieces. I’m going to add the balsamic and oil dip for the bread was okay, I felt like the bread was quite dense and not very flavorful. The fettuccine Alfredo was also lacking some flavor. The chicken Parmesan was nice! And the pizza is always a great option. The cheesecake of the week varies and this week they had the peanut butter chocolate which was quite decadent. Considering the area, I would definitely stop by here for lunch or dinner!
Came here for lunch. They are a bit understaffed, but they handle it well. Our food was delicious!
Highly recommend the BBQ Chicken pizza. The BBQ sauce is so smooth and rich and goes great on pizza. The margarita is good, but I wish it had a bit more basil. The 10" personal is a great deal for $12. Nice spot I hope it lasts.
A good friend and former server recommended Zappone’s and it was a GREAT recommendation. They were able to accommodate our large party of about 15! We tried almost every appetizer (Calamari, Mozzarella Balls and Bruschetta) they were all AMAZING. Their CHIANTI BRAISED BEEF & Spaghetti & Meatballs (I added Italian sausage as well) was delicious. We will definitely be back and it was so worth our 45 minute drive to Gilbert!!
Great Italian food! I definitely give Zappone's Italian bistro 5 stars. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. We got our food served quickly and it was piping hot and really good! I appreciate that we were able to substitute the side dish of pasta with whatever vegetable the chef had for the day. And the sauteed zucchini for absolutely out of this world! We were visiting from out of town, and have recommended this restaurant to our friends that live in Gilbert.
My husband works near Zappone’s so we went in for a late lunch or an early dinner (3:00). It wasn’t crowded so that was great. It’s wheelchair friendly. It was clean. The waitress was great. She brought us a plate of bread to start us off. It was the best bread I’ve ever had! They make it fresh every day. The top is slightly crunchy and salty with a slight trace of garlic. We ate two plates!! The pizza was really good. The crust is almost like the bread, but without the salty taste. The fettuccine was delicious. I added chicken. It was dry the way I like my fettuccine, not drowning in sauce. I don’t like it soupy. We had lots of leftovers because we filled up on bread. We were too full to try dessert this time, but we will try it next time. I could just go for the bread and be a happy camper!
The owner was really nice. The food though was okay. We ordered calamari which was $14... and what we got was like 12 pieces of calamari. Not what I was expecting. The mushroom pasta and chicken marsala needed a lot more salt and seasoning. It was very bland. I think the chicken supplier needs to be changed in general. But i still left a good tip because the owner was so kind and I think there is room for improvement.
The service was great and the setting was simple and cozy. The food was excellent as well!
However, the flavors on our appetizers lacked. Kitchen staff, everyone is amazing but it's totally okay not to be so generous with the seasoning. We want to enjoy, not sneeze or taste the seasoning only. Some dishes also didn't have the same flavor consistency and the dining room was a bit run down.
Yet the service made up for these areas of improvement. I look forward to visiting next time and be wowed again!
Real Italian food (as best as I know) that is fantastic. The pasta was homemade. The pizza was absolutely delicious and I could not believe that the pricing was as low as it was. The servers were really cute young ladies that were very knowledgeable and professional while carrying a high level of energy. The owner/manager came out and spoke with us. Every time I have gone to this place the service was great and the food was excellent. Also, it is very conveniently located in the middle of Scottsdale, Mesa, Queen Creek, Chandler, Gilbert and Apache Junction so you can have a bunch of people meet. The tables are not bolted to the ground so that makes it easy to have a large group.
