Visited Zanzibar with a party of 11. EVERYTHING was fire!! I haven’t eaten here in about 3 years since it was sold. I’m so glad that the old owner is back! The service was perfect, the waitress was perfect(Tenishia) and the food as well. Between all the appetizers & the food. There was not one complaint from the group. Everything came out smoking hot! The waitress remembered everyone’s name & was a lot of help. There was not a time that she had us waiting long for anything. We will definitely be returning. Overall perfect job. The honey glazed whole wings are the TRUTH!! Overall, PERFECT job! Music was a vibe & being played at a moderate volume as well. The Soul Food, Had Soul in it!
I came in on a Saturday because I work all week and the weekends are the only time I'm free. So I took two buses to get here just to eat there amazing food and enjoy the Vibe. I love coming here and going to keep coming here on Saturdays. My favorite Vibe spot. And Mrs. Sandra and I have a great relationship. She knows my distinctive voice from afar. She is the reason why I come here and not downtown. I will never go downtown. I will always come here and spread my love to her and her business. She'll always have a special place in my heart.
I went to Zanzibars at an odd time in the afternoon, and I sat at the bar. Andre was the bartender and my server! He was very kind, asked me if I had any questions, gave me recommendations, and chatted with me while I sat there. Andre recommended the Cajun corn to me, and it was amazing! That's the first thing I finished on my plate! I also got the chicken and waffles with baked mac and cheese. I had been waiting to find chicken in Cleveland that was seasoned and delicious, and let me tell y'all, Zanzibar did not disappoint. I'm really not into waffles all that much either, and you're two pieces of chicken come with 4 little round waffles. They were amazing! They also offer a a variety of mixed kool-aid. I got the Ice Blue and it was soo good, I asked for one to take home! They come in Mason jars. I would highly recommend this spot! It's a 10/10 for me and I will definitely be returning due to the amazing food and service I received!
This place is somewhere I would frequent if I lived closer! However, I plan to bring my husband back.
The great experience started once Khadijah answered the phone! Then Harold hit it out of the park with his Awesome Service! Harold’s suggestions were Spot On! Not only did I dine in but brought some food home for hubby! He Loved it! This place should NOT be Passed Over!!!

Our food was excellent, so fresh hot and tasty!! The atmosphere was laid back, clean and inviting. But I want to give a special thanks to our superb, top notch waitress Taneisha, she was so nice, respectable, treated my son like he was a valuable customer and made our experience excellent! My son said mom give her 5 stars! I would recommend this establish to everyone. Come here to be spoiled!!!
Sandra was the best.. Very attentive to our needs.. The food was AMAZING !!!! The Honey Fried chicken n jerk chicken was the best.. The yams the best I had at a soul food spot… Soul rolls Is fantastic!!!
Soul food is soul food, but the folks at Zanzibar put the “SOUL” in this place. When we arrived as most restaurants do nowadays, your entire party needs to be present. However, when we took a seat at the bar the bartender was trying to tell the hostess to seat us thinking we were a party of two. When explained that we were early and waiting on our party she told us “no problem have a seat and here’s our drink menu.” After the rest of our party arrived we were seated and then it was on! Ms Tanisha provided server service that they don’t teach anywhere! She took 7 orders, including drinks and apps with no pen and paper, iPad or computer. All the apps came out hot, and the entrees did not interfere with apps. Unique menu offerings especially the Red and Purple Kool Aid (free refills, and if you bring the mason jar back, THEY GONE REFILL IT AGAIN!). SEE PICS. Located in Shaker Square, it’s worth the visit. I believe they have other locations but I prefer this one. Thank you Ms Tanisha! “Purple Rain, purple rain”
Ate here the other day we had a large party at the last minute close to closing and they accommodated us very well! Service was AMAZING, food was Great everything wAs perfect! My food was delicious ????????????
