Best WLM Reviews
My partner and I had a perfect date/anniversary night. From the warm welcoming with a sparkling, to the end with a beautiful presentation of fantastic desserts! We enjoyed the ambiance, the service, and of course the impecable food! It's a shame we are not locals otherwise we would become regulars.
Celebrating my birthday here, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Zahav.
For $85 per person, we got plenty of food, and everything from the appetizers to dessert was delicious. The service was excellent, and our server was friendly and helpful.
It’s definitely worth trying, even though it’s hard to get a reservation
Zahav has been around for over 14 years and is known as the best restaurant in Philadelphia. It’s super hard to get a reservation, though. They only open reservations at 11 am for an 8-week period. If you want to eat on a Saturday night, you have to be on their website booking the reservation (very quickly) at 11 AM on Saturday 8 weeks before the day you want. But trust me, it was worth the trouble. Our waitress, Lindsey, was super sweet and attentive. We felt really comfortable. On the weekends, they have a pretty big menu, so you can try about 6 appetizers, order 2 more larger appetizers, a main course, and dessert. I’ve attached the full menu in the pictures if you want to see what we had. We ordered the Phyllo-wrapped Haloumi and Lamb Tartare, Pomegranate Lamb Shoulder for the main course, and Malabi Custard for dessert. The food was amazing!!! At the end, the head chef/owner, Mike, came out, greeted us, and thanked us for going through all the trouble to see them. That made me feel really special. Again, this place is a must-visit restaurant in Philadelphia. If you have the chance, try to walk in and wait for a table, make a reservation, or sit at the bar, however you can, get your butt in here, it’s worth it!!!
Good: The service is amazing, waiters are warm and friendly and attend well to your needs. The food was good, we like the first course of hummus and pita with a variety of side dishes. The appetizers were also good, except for the cabbage and peanuts, it was okayish. Main course we tried swordfish , lamb and chicken and I will say chicken was the best. In desserts we tried all 3 options and liked the sorbet and chocolate cake in that order the most. Finally the ambience was good too for a fine dine.
Bad: Not easy to find a parking spot, will have to drive around a bit to find a good spot. The prices are also on the higher side with a 20% tip pre-included in the bill. For a reference a dinner for 4 with 4 non alcoholic beverages costed us 480 dollars.
Suggestion for a better experience: try to book a table for early evenings like 6pm, and take your time to relax and eat. Also don't fill yourself up in the first course , ask for a box, pack the extra and move to the second course. Else you will be full by the time you come to main course.
This place is about 4.6-4.7. The salads are fresh and flavorful. The portions are generous. Service is prompt and attentive. We tried the lamb, which everyone liked, but it wasn’t my thing. Maybe a little overcooked? My drink wasn’t tasty. The food is overpriced and automatic 20% gratuity is in bad taste. I looked through some of the negative reviews and sadly 20% of them are pure anti-semitism. In my view, this place is excellent, but overpriced and overhyped.
The hummus and laffa bread were spectacular. I loved all the vegetable side dishes as well. The beets were my personal favorite. The texture was very satisfying and all the flavors worked in harmony. The mezze dishes were tasty. The grilled peppers were elevated from the sprinkled cheese on top. I really enjoyed these appetizer dishes. Unfortunately, I was disappointed by the pomegranate lamb. The sauce was lacking. It really didn't have any taste, while the meatiness of the lamb overpowered. The meat was cooked well as the meat itself was tender. Not a great look for the appetizers to completely outshine the entree. The rice that came with the lamb was a bit too crunchy for my liking. Some of the crunchy bits hurt my molars . The green beans were fire though, I loved them. I would recommend not getting the pomegranate lamb if you can get a reservation at this place. The cheesecake was alright, and I liked the berries sauce. Atmosphere was cool with a high ceiling and plenty of natural light. Service from waitresses and waiters were fine except the hostess was kind of rude. She said "I can take the next guests," to which I said "Oh I think that's us!" She proceeded to look me in the face, say "wait a minute," then completely disregard me and yell out again "I can take the next guests!" Aight then
Zahav is still one of the best restaurants around. It’s been over 15 years since I’ve been there and the food is still exquisite and flavorful. Far and away the best hummus ever!! Our server was a delight as was all of the staff. A must go to if you are in Philly.
Worth every penny!!! the food is amazing, the portions are very good. the service could be a little faster but they are very kind, they are very attentive to what you need and they explain everything very well! Honestly eating here is a must.
Getting a reservation is very difficult, but I recommend keeping an eye on the website to reserve the dates you want!
