Best WLM Reviews

My husband and I were very impressed by this hotel right in the heart of South Beach Miami. Very spacious room, great and comfortable King Size bed, wonderful bathroom with two sinks and a big shower. Also a lovely heated pool in a courtyard, plus hot tub. The best part however was the amazing huge balcony which we enjoyed every night sitting outside people watching with a glass of wine. Also included was a breakfast credit of $20 each at the attached restaurant plus two beach chairs and an umbrella on the beach. The only issue was a problem getting the internet but once I mentioned this I was immediately offered a credit which I very happy about. Such a great place, we would definitely stay there again. Thank you Z Ocean.
The manager of this Hotel couldn't be worse.
I don't normally write crummy reviews unless they are deserved, it seems most people I spoke with felt the same about the general manager Danielle.
He has a better than attitude and it carries through to his staff. The gallery across the street referred me as I was a long term guest and I would never recommend anyone to stay at this Hotel.
I own a company and Danielle would be the last person I would want managing a business that is in the hospitality industry.
He lacks consideration and respect and should be replaced ASAP.
I feel sorry for the owner of this Hotel. Just read the reviews.
Enough said!
The people at the front desk were professional and inviting. The room was nice and spacious. The hot tub was NOT hot and the staff would walk in your room without knocking. If you do stay here see if they can provide you with a "please do not disturb" door hanger. Access to the beach was amazing! The food at the restaurant was terrible. There are plenty of other food options around do not opt for the front porch restaurant. Not the worst and not the best.|Done
I have stayed at many Sonesta Hotels and they have always been outstanding. This place is a dated dump with terrible service. Worse was we did not feel safe. Hard to believe this is part of the Sonesta chain.||||The hotel was probably gorgeous when it first opened obviously along time ago. There has been terrible upkeep. Some of the common areas have missing door stops, doors have obvious damage and the trim on our floor looked it was painted with white primer.||||Our room was large with a roof deck with a hot tub. The hot tub looked gross. Dirty, chipped paint. Would not stop foot in it. The shower bench had a crack. And the whole place looked terribly dated. The furniture on the roof deck was dirty and rusty.||||One day we saw a police officer bullet proof vest and all across the hall in a room. When we asked downstairs we were told he was there to check the safety of the balconies. When we went outside there was a police crime scene van parked directly in front of the hotel. ||||When we returned at the end of the day we were told there was a break in but that happens all over south beach. Boy that made us feel good. ||||Next morning there was a poor girl walking down the hall knocking on every door with bags of food strung out on something. Very sad. Told front desk and the staff at the front desk told me she was an airbnb guest and likely could not find her room. The front door staff promised to go up and help. But 20 minutes later our friends told us she was still knocking on doors.||||Turns out some of the rooms in the hotel are actually AirBnbs. Found them online for a couple of hundred bucks a night. ||||No housekeeping and was told you have to request it. No one told us that at check in. ||||I am gold Sonesta member. None of benefits offered at check in.||||Until this place is overhauled from top to bottom in cuddling the staff I would avoid this place at all costs.
l recently stayed at this hotel and was quite disappointed. The property feels outdated and could really use some renovations. Additionally, not all of the staff were friendly, which impacted my overall experience. I also found that the towel supply was insufficient for my needs. I hope the management considers making some improvements to enhance guest satisfaction.
Booked this hotel although some of the reviews were not so good first of all do not book if you are looking to relax and enjoy one of the spa rooms none of the jets work in any of the rooms they send someone to sweep it out not clean drop a bath bomb in and fill with water after you have signed a form not to fill or operate the tub yourself so this is there hot tub second never received any wash cloths my whole stay had to pay housekeeping for was cloths to magically appear in my room thirdly day 2 and 3 elevator was down someone had to operate it manually from inside so there was a 5-10 wait every time you needed to come and go from your room only positive thing is that the beach is a 2 to 3 minute walk from hotel and if u are renting a vehicle and want to park at the hotel prepare to pay 40 dollars a day for parking or find cheaper and have to walk back and fourth to the hotel if you plan to book here book a regular room with minimal expectations as some photos and descriptions are misleading so book at your own risk otherwise if you can afford to pay a little extra to hopefully get what you pay for and enjoy your vacation.
I definitely give this place five out of five starts. It’s in a Great location. All the Staff were super helpful and amazing. Everything you need is close. A Great place to stay in south beach especially if it is your first time. We will be back!
Extremely Disappointing Stay – Unsafe, Unclean, and Unprofessional / Z Ocean Hotel, Miami South Beach
Dear Z Ocean Hotel Management,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction regarding our recent stay at Z Ocean Hotel in Miami South Beach. This stay was meant to be a memorable part of our honeymoon, but instead, it turned out to be a deeply disappointing experience, far from what we had expected based on previous visits and the images presented on Booking.com.
We stayed at Z Ocean Hotel roughly 15 years ago, and unfortunately, it seems like nothing has changed since then. It felt as if no renovations have been done in all this time, and the overall condition of the hotel is now far below acceptable standards, let alone worthy of the €300+ per night we were charged.
Here is a summary of the most critical issues we encountered:
1. **Old Carpets & Paint**: Every hallway had worn-out carpets, and the walls were covered with faded, old paint. It did not feel like an inviting, fresh space that one expects when on holiday, especially not for a honeymoon.
2. **Severe Maintenance Neglect**: Some of the ceiling panels were ripped out and "repaired" with duct tape, which is not only unsightly but also extremely unprofessional for a hotel of this supposed caliber. Additionally, the overall cleanliness of the hotel was substandard.
3. **Shower Problems**: The water in our shower was scalding hot, making it impossible to shower. The faucet was broken, so there was no way to regulate the water temperature. This was a severe inconvenience, and no attempt was made to fix it during our stay.
4. **Torn Curtains**: The curtains in our room were torn, allowing sunlight to stream in early in the morning, which woke us up every day. It was clear that these curtains had not been replaced since our last visit over 15 years ago. This lack of attention to basic room upkeep was incredibly frustrating, especially for a hotel that charges premium prices.
4. **Non-Functional Ice Machines**: There was a sign for an ice machine in the hallway, but it had been out of service for many years. On the floor above us, the ice machine was still in place but also non-functional.
5. **Lack of Proper Communication**: On our final day, we managed to speak with the hotel manager, who assured us that our stay would be fully refunded due to the numerous issues we experienced. I was advised to contact Booking.com, which I promptly did. After several emails back and forth, Booking.com informed me that they were waiting for confirmation from the hotel. However, I have since received only a partial refund of $198, which doesn't even cover a single night's stay. This is completely unacceptable.
We are not typically the type to complain, but given the severity of the situation, we felt compelled to share our experience. We had higher expectations for a hotel we once enjoyed, and for a honeymoon, we had hoped for something truly special. Instead, we received a stay that more closely resembled a budget hostel than a luxury hotel.
I sincerely urge Z Ocean Hotel and Booking.com to take this matter seriously. We are requesting a full refund for our stay, as initially promised by the hotel manager. Given the circumstances, I believe this is the only fair resolution.
Moreover, we will be warning others to avoid this hotel!!! For the price we paid, the quality and service were simply unacceptable.
This was easily one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!
