Best WLM Reviews

We celebrated a family birthday at Yutaka Hibachi in Somerville, and it was an unforgettable experience! The chefs are incredibly skilled and entertaining, making the meal both delicious and fun. Everyone in our group was impressed by the quality of the food—from perfectly cooked steak and shrimp to fresh sushi and tasty fried rice.
Wouldn't come back for the following reasons.
The lady in the front is miserable and kills the vibe instantly. Walked in with excitement but after 30 seconds of talking to her, I was already rubbed the wrong way. They need to get rid of her. She clearly does not enjoy being there and has no manners. I regret dropping $100 on a meal since I wasn't treated decently.
The chef was very boring and split the portions unevenly. One person gets a pound of rice and the other gets a half portion? I don't understand. All the food is drenched in oyster sauce so as a result the steak, shrimp, and chicken all have the same flavor. Don't get me wrong, the food is good... BUT with the pricing, I was expecting some kind of enthusiasm or a different flavor profile from the food.
Lastly, they straight up rush you out. They'll come around and hand you the bill before you're even done eating. Yet, they're nowhere to be found when you need a refill or some help with something. This place gives strange vibes. No one seems happy to be there.
Do not recommend. I should've went to Sushi Palace instead.
A memorable hibachi chef starts the show by lighting a fire on the grill to grab attention, jokingly says, “Hope no one here is afraid of fire!” Then, they flawlessly prepare the food, humorously toss eggs into their hat, and make a fiery volcano with onions. They engage with the diners, teaching them how to say “delicious” in Japanese (oishii) and ensuring everyone leaves laughing and satisfied.
Thank you Jeremy and Ben for their great service! Best team in town!
The place had a very nice ambiance and the food was fairly good. The experience overall was pretty poor. We had to wait a very long time for our waiter to take our orders and we didn't even get water in the mean time. Also there was a minor language barrier with one of the waiters, which isn't a problem, but it took way too long for another waiter to come. The food was good, but their vegetarian selection was very small. The hibachi chef was great though and interacted with us a lot, and he really made the dinner better. Overall it was ok but I probably wouldn't come here again.
Had a very nice time. We went to a small birthday party we enjoyed ourselves the food was very good some of us had Hibachi which was a fun experience as always. Some head the sushi rolls. And my daughter had the Japanese chicken tenders. It was very enjoyable we were in a private room as well
Bad start. Host at the desk had a bad attitude from the time we entered and very rude when we said our other couple was not there yet. From the time we sat down, we felt rushed. Soup and salad came out at the same time. Place overall was not clean. Chairs and tables were sticky, remnants of food on the corners of the table. Food stains on the walls. Surprisingly the food was decent.
Updated review. Great meal and atmosphere. The cool put on a good show and my grandkids loved it. You won’t be disappointed.
……………previous review
Wife had Sushi. I had Hibachi. Very good. Large portions. Good value. Plenty of leftovers for both of us for lunch the next day. Only disappointment was we weren’t allowed to sit a Hibachi table because the wife was having sushi. Hibachi was cooked in kitchen and brought to our dinning room table. Dinning room was too quiet. Needs music, otherwise you can hear conversations at other tables clearly.
Bonus it’s BYOB.
This once-popular spot seems to be past its prime. The ambiance felt stale, with a lingering odor of stagnant water near the fountains. The food was decent, but the Hibachi chef's performance lacked enthusiasm, making us wonder if he's been in the game a bit too long. While the price for four wasn't outrageous (around $150 with tip), the overall experience wasn't enough to warrant a return visit.
