Fresh but boring.
The quality of the food was good and the service was brisk. I ordered the spicy yummy combo. It was not spicy at all and lacked flavor. They did have chili in oil which I added to give it some spice. They didn’t have any Sriracha sauce, which would have added some flavor. The lo mein was good, but no better than your average strip mall take out joint. We have eaten at yummy house in Sarasota and it was better than this.
In closing, not a bad place to get lunch, but not one of those places that you can’t wait to go back to.
By Florida standard, I say it’s quite decent being in Ocala. I say YH Seafood in Orlando is still the best. YH dim sum in Jax and Yummy House in Ocala are about the same and all under same owner. From ambience perspective, the Jax location is nicer than the Ocala location, and it is a large standalone restaurant.
Shrimp dumplings, fried sticky pork dumplings, Singaporean noodles, spare ribs, chicken feet, shrimp in rice flour rolls and stir fried Chinese broccoli with ginger were all quite tasty and authentic.
I was so excited to eat here and I ate shrimp and scallop spicy sauce but it was not spicy at all even I put spicy oil in it,and taste weak too,but I give 3 stars because appetizer eggplant was soooooooo good! I’m little bit upset they didn’t have crab lagoon but eggplant is the best!! I would go back only for appetizers lol
Also, I ordered 6 rice and I don’t know why they put 6 rice all together ????????
*we spent about $160 as family of 6.
I’ve heard about the yummy house for many years but never went there but finally I ate there and it was the greatest food. I know why they call it the yummy house. They do have daily lunch specials.
I went there for dinner . The service was impeccable. And so was the food.
Food was yummy, living up to the name of the restaurant. We stopped here on a roadtrip and had lunch here before heading back on the road. As we parked and entered the restaurant, we had the impression that the food would resemble more americanized Chinese cuisine. But upon browsing the menu, we were pleasantly surprised by some of the more authentic chinese dishes on the menu. Portions are large and prices are very good for how much food you get. The sweet and sour chicken and Mongolian beef was great. They also gave us two portions of rice each as well.
The mongolian beef: Highly recommend. The flavor of the marinated beef and onions was well balanced. The rice was soft and aromatic.
Sweet and sour chicken: The dish was not too sweet or sour. They mixed the chicken with the sweet and sour sauce which is my preference. There were both vegetables and pineapple too which added tanginess to the dish.
My kids love it there. Food was amazing very large proportion worth the money . My chicken n broccoli was uncooked , you can taste the blood from the chicken, I told them about it and they took it back toss it up and is was perfectly enjoyable.
Visited for the first time during lunch time. It was busy, but the food came out quick. Service was very attentive. The restaurant looks clean and nicely decorated. They have a bar in the back with a couple of TVs. Ordered from the lunch menu, and the portion was enough to fill me up. Will definitely go back as the food was delicious.
Yummy House in Ocala has become one of my go-to spots for Asian cuisine. Every time I visit, I know I’m in for a treat! One of my absolute favorites is the Hong Kong Roasted Duck – it's crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and just full of flavor. If you’re looking for a unique, delicious dish, this is a must-try!
My meal also included sweet and sour chicken, mixed vegetables, noodles, and the spring rolls with a refreshing orange sauce. Everything was beautifully cooked and presented, and the portions were generous. Another highlight is their authentic hot tea, not from a bag but traditionally prepared, which adds a special touch to the whole dining experience.
Here’s my breakdown:
Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Friendly and quick.
Portion Size: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for sharing or a hearty individual meal.
Flavors: ⭐⭐⭐ Some dishes could be even bolder in flavor, but overall very enjoyable.
Ambiance: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cozy and relaxed, perfect for enjoying a nice meal.
Overall, my rating is 4.25 out of 5. I will definitely be back and can’t wait to share my experience with others. If you're in Ocala and looking for authentic Asian flavors, Yummy House is a must-visit!
