Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - ordered a Young Chow Fried Rice (large) and a Young Chow's Special Chicken (small) with fried rice. We were surprised since the two to-go boxes weren't that different in size but the chicken came with the whole box of rice and a separate container for chicken. When we ordered the fried rice we were thinking it was Youngzhou (Yeung Chow or Yang Chow) fried rice which is a egg fried rice with mixed vegetables, scallions, shrimp, and char siu (roasted pork). While it had some of the components, it was not very well seasoned and the proteins were not seasoned. The chicken was decent and the serving size was great!
Service: 5/5 - friendly. We asked about the size for the lunch special and the cashier mentioned it was closer to the small size for the food but that it came with a side and a soup/salad.
Ambiance: n/a - ordered food to go so we didn't see much of the restaurant
Value for price: 4/5 - depends on the dish you get. Do NOT get a fried rice as it's not worth the price but the chicken was decent in quantity of food.
It's okay. The food was average. There were no vegetarian options in the soup but the waiter helped us make one. The chow mein was simply cabbage and that's disappointing. The veg chow mein was too oily but edible.
Local legendary place to dine-in or take-out. Staff is lovely. Food is legitimately better than any Chinese restaurant I've been in across the East coast in major cities. If you're looking for Chinese, this is the spot.
My family went to Young Chow's quite a few times for lunch and dinner. Every time that we went the food was great and we enjoyed all the various dishes we ordered. We had different dishes from lunch and dinner specials to al carte items.
The restaurant seems to do well and is always busy, but they seem perpetually understaffed. On several different occasions, we had the same waitress who was the only one working as the wait staff for the entire restaurant. It didn't affect our experience, but they should consider hiring some additional employees to help existing staff.
The food was great, my friend and I ordered a variety of things and everything was really good. Our waitress was fantastic, very friendly and helpful. I also really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful Phoenix statue on the way in.
I ordered dinner here tonight, I ordered
General Tso Large combo
Shrimp fried rice
And an egg roll
The chicken and the general Tso honestly appear to be old as the texture and flavor was very dry
The shrimp fried rice also tasted old
The egg rolls was soggy and not fresh none of the food that I received tonight was fresh.
My order total was $27 and I feel like I was served old food I do not recommend anyone else eat here.
We make a point to stop here for a meal when we are near Beckley. This time the slaw appetizer was very very spicy but not sweet. Not as good as it once was. Hubby had Orange Chicken and I had Ta Chen Chicken. Both were excellent as expected. We loved the fried rice as always, but the eggrolls were not the best. We still love the food and will be back!
First time here but I can tell this place has been here for a long time and has been taken care of. Our waiter was super nice but unfortunately I didn't like the food enough to come back. Vegetable egg roll had a different taste that I didn't care for and the Mixed Vegetables stir fry was too oily for me. Didn't see a ton of vegetarian options.
