We stopped here for one night when we visited Yosemite National Park, it's about 1 hour and 30 minutes to drive to Yosemite Valley, which is very close and convenient.
We arrived late in the night, there were 2 persons at check-in, so everything went smoothly. Big parking lot, when we arrived was full, but I managed to find a spot.
Room was big, with 2 queen beds, very comfortable and everything was clean inside and well maintained. They have a lot of storage spaces in the room, and I really like the idea of a make-up table next to the sink, as you can see in the pictures.
Bathroom was clean and spacious, with everything you need to enjoy a nice shower after a day of hiking.
It was also a bar area where you can find coffee machine and tea and a separated sink to use it.
Breakfast was good, you can grab something before you go, but they can improve it a lot. They offer scrambled eggs and sausages, cereals, bread and bagels, muffins, yogurt, juices and coffee. I really didn't like how they put the milk, it was 3 bottles, a gallon each in a fridge ( see pictures ). I don't know if every day is the same thing because we stay only 1 night.
Also I don't like the area for the tables at the breakfast, you have a few tables to sit, and then you have a bar with high chair to sit surrounding the table, but when you try to sit there, you feel like you sit in the head of the people from the table.
Overall is a nice place to stay closed to Yosemite, at a good price, remember you have to drive to Yosemite Valley, but is a nice drive. As I say they can improve some things at the breakfast. Clean and big rooms, nice people at the front desk.
We stayed at Southgate on October 15, and we’re very pleased with the accommodations as well as our desk clerk Justin. He should really be labeled a concierge as helpful as he was. He answered all the questions we needed fully and was very helpful. It isn’t mentioned on the website, but they did have a nice breakfast. |The room was amazing. We had a king size bed a couch, a sink near the refrigerator, which was great and the bathroom shower was very good. We had enough outlets and USB ports to meet our needs for our devices. And the lighting was great. The only critique I have is that the shelf that the coffee pot was on was too high to reach, so we put it over by the sink. Other than that, everything was great.
The staffs are wonderful, they are friendly and very knowledgeable when we, as foreign tourist, asked about our trip to Yosemite. The rooms are spacious, clean with good amenities. Free parking spot. Convenient breakfast. A perfect gateway to explore Yosemite Valley. Highly recommend this hotel.
Great location at the South Gate of Yosemite. Clean nice rooms and they have a hot tub for cool nights. Easy access to numerous shops and restaurants in the general area. The staff was amazing and helpful. The gentleman that checked us in has lived at Yosemite his entire life and was a well of knowledge.
We were pleasantly surprised by the room and facilities, we did not expect it to be this big and so conveniently located from Mariposa grove. Eateries in town are close, so is the convenience store. Room is clean and breakfast has all that you need. Free parking at the premises is an added advantage. Will stay here again the next time we are here to visit Yosemite.
Positive: Location, comfortable bed. Plenty of towels. trash & recycling bins in bedroom. Familiar TV remote. Negative: the rolling ottoman under the makeup mirror was a tilting falling hazard. The water pressure was puny in the shower. No freezer space in refrigerator. No cool water available in breakfast room. Only decaf coffee keurig pods provided at desk.
Positive: I can't say enough about this hotel: the rooms were huge! We stayed for 3 nights on a 3+ week trip and this hotel was the best by far! The staff was excellent. Enjoyed the sauna and hot tub. Breakfast was very good. Negative: That we couldn't stay longer!
The hotel was clean and comfortable. When we checked in we helped by Cliff. He took the time to explain how we can navigate Yosemite. There are a number of good restaurants in the area The staff was friendly and helpful! Would definitely stay there again.
