My review is not based on Dr. Shin. I'm reviewing their front and back desk billing department. Their system isn't broken, it's false. A complete lie. In 2020 I went to counseling here for a couple months. I kept records and receipts for all visits. I was falsely billed as "non payment". After I printed then presented my bank statements for the specific time period, the issue was still never resolved. From what I can tell with this type of office is it's very easy to get lost and behind with their billing. Recommend keeping all receipts.
Anyone with Medicaid, know right now it doesn't cover TMS. I had a one star experience but she is a nice person so ... I just have to say what happened. I checked out a place in Harrisburg first and they told me without me having to come in that they didn't take my insurance. I really wanted the TMS treatment and my doctor recommended to try this place too, even though it is 2 1/2 hours from my home. I called them to set up an appointment. They said they didn't do video visits. So I went. They said they couldn't do it unless I met with their therapist. So I came back for that appointment. He said he thought it would really help me. After another appointment we had the paperwork done and she said she would send it in and call in a week or two. They never called. I called them. Left messages. If I got them they said the TMS person wasn't there and they would call me back. They did not. I was so anxious and depressed about it but I eventually gave up and was resigned to the fact it wasn't going to happen. Then 6 months later they contacted me about it. I called, made another appointment, filled out the same paperwork, this time she actually sent it in. Turns out my insurance does not cover it period. I hope someone benefits from my experience.
My family and I have been going to this practice for years. They do have some good therapists but the front office is a mess. Their billing system is poorly run and they rarely send out bills in a timely fashion, however they will cancel your appointment if you have any balance. They also don’t have any online payment options. The last time I called the person who said they were the “office manager” refused to give me their name. We’ve followed several therapists to other practices who said they left because it is so poorly run internally.
Dr Shin is pretty good but I REALLY love her PA/NP (can’t recall which she is) Kristy. She is on time, personable and really listens to your concerns. If you’re looking into going here, definitely ask for Kristy! The admin staff is wonderful as well.
Excellent therapists! They will get 2 stars though because their front desk is a mess. The easiest way to schedule an appointment or remind them to refill a script is GOING THERE IN PERSON since half the time the front desk puts you on hold and forgets about you. Their answering service isn’t much better.
This is a trash buisness filled with liars. They will deny you medication and appointments, if you owe a single cent. They will ghost you without notice. Dr Shin refuses to use a computer and relies on word of mouth to run her office sadly her office staff is incapable of supporting this approach properly and miscommunication is rampant and the clients suffer.
Absolutely horrible service. Finnaly got called back 35 mins after my scheduled appointment. Dr yong is very unprofessional and rude and gets short with you if you don't understand what she is saying. Very unorganized. She shouldn't be dealing with people that have mental conditions. A Dr shouldn't give you an attitude and lose patience with you just because you don't understand the question. Definitely going to be looking for someone else. I should have read the reviews before I decided to make an appointment

ACCURATE RECEIPTS! THANK god I got a recent bill done in september bc they are trying to say that i owe bills from 2021! Claiming all this extra money. Do not trust this office. it is insane how they treat people in distress. i told them to have dr. SHin call me for an issue and the receptionist hung up on me. Do not go here if you actually need help with your mental health because she is not of sound mind and body anymore, in my opinion...when I began six years ago she was compassionate and caring, helping me to manage my anxiety and depression so that I could achieve not one, but 3 degrees and go on to build a life for myself..NOW, that HAS ALL CHANGED!! This month it was as if she lost her mind. She argued with me on the phone trying to comvince me that I was taking a medication that she prescribed, which I am not! If say I was on said medication, there would have to be frequent blood work drawn, because a person could become toxic if the level became too high, and NOT ONE TIME has she ever ordered blood work!! When I mentioned that to her, because I am in the field and know about these medications) she acted as if I never said a word to her, she completely disregarded me because she knew I caught her in a lie, and brought to light how she doesn't properly manage her patients, she said nothing. . She is putting my life in danger by screwing with my mental health. There is no sane, competent doctor that would do this to a patient out of nowhere, especially one that has graduated from grad school, has a good job, and is a contributing member or society. I believe that she is also acting this way now because of the fact that so many people say she is a cash for pills doctor, why take that out of me? I'm not one of those patients! I'm not somebody that abuses medications, so why are you taking this stuff out on me? I have never done ANYTHING WRONG. She refuses to let you speak your piece even though that is the number one rule in therapy, the client is supposed to speak during therapeutic sessions, it is not time for the therapist or psychiatrist to speak..they're not supposed to take up the session, it's supposed to be the client that takes up the session. I know this because I am a clinical counselor and what she's doing is wrong!!! she wouldn't let me say two words she kept talking over me interrupting me telling me I was wrong with what I was saying even though I have tons of documentation, and I trust cvs over her. This woman should not be practicing medicine trust me if she was a surgeon they wouldn't let her in the operating rm. consider going somewhere else because you will regret having her as a doctor. She has flipped my life upside down and bullied me off meds. It's inhumane.
