Best WLM Reviews
First time at Yola's. We got the peaches and cream waffles (special) and a breakfast burrito. They were delectable, and we ate everything off our plate. The "sweet" iced matcha we got was not as sweet as we hoped. The atmosphere is lively; I would recommend getting there early if you want a table of your choice. Service was great! Super nice and attentive people all around.
What a disappointing experience! We will not be returning.
First, the positives. The staff were friendly. Waiting times were reasonable. The honey lavender latte was pretty average with a below average price. The cafe was clean, if not generic and uninspired. My daughter said her waffle was good. To be fair, she says the same thing about Eggo waffles.
Now, the negatives. I ordered a bowl of granola with milk. They brought it out and asked if I’d be okay with yogurt to which I said I’d prefer milk. To their credit they did take it back without complaint. However, they simply brought it to the back scraped most of the yogurt off, and returned with the same plate and a shot glass of milk. The fruit still had quite a bit of yogurt on it (gross). The milk was warm. I suspect had the order been plated as ordered, it would have come in a bowl. At least I hope that’d the case. The paltry ounce and a half of milk barely covered the bottom of plate leaving almost entirely dry granola. This was compounded by another problem: about a quarter of the granola was visibly burnt and tasted as such, too. Oh, and they forgot to put strawberries on my daughter’s waffle, which was, of course, and upcharge that we paid for. Also, they served the latte in a paper cup, even though we were dining in. How wasteful!
We’ll be avoiding this place and strongly recommend you do the same. There are SO many great breakfast spots and coffee shops in the area, many of which are leagues better than this place, which is at best ordinary.
I love Yola’s cafe and coffee shop! It’s so warm and welcoming and the staff makes you feel right at home!
In the cold months the fire place is cozy…in the warm months the outdoor patio is breezy and cool
The beverages are served hot and with big flavor (I don’t like weak coffee!)
…and the waffles are scrumptious!
A great place for a meeting or a snack!!!
I was there for the first time. I took a friend who was visiting from out of the state. I was so impressed that I took another couple of friends to have brunch. They were all very impressed with this gem who is tucked in an out the way locales near Brenna’s and ALDI’s, on the West side of Madison.
Make sure to get there before 2 pm because the kitchen closes by that time. This place has amazing coffee and scrumptious pastries , so if you’re looking for a snack, you’ll still be able to enjoy.
The cheddar herbed cream cheese is a very nice pairing to the fried egg and arugula. ???????? very yummy, on thier signature breakfast sandwich. Friendly staff, great seating and ample menu. I'll definitely come back.
There pastries are fun, varied and look delicious.
“I recently treated myself to my first solo dining experience at this coffee shop, and it was absolutely perfect! The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing, making it the ideal spot to unwind. The food was amazing, and the coffee—simply delicious! If you’re looking for an amazing waffle, this is the place to be. The staff behind the counter were so friendly and welcoming, making me feel right at home. I’ve never felt this relaxed in a café-restaurant setting before, and I will definitely be coming back again soon!”
The gluten-free breakfast burritos basically got me through COVID. Delicious potatoes, eggs, cheese, bacon. They are best enjoyed on the shores of Lake Mendota with the accompanying salsa.
One of my favorite breakfast places in Madison mostly due to my love of their country breakfast waffle. The drinks selection is impressive and it checks all the boxes I have for a good cafe. The only downside is how hard it is to grab a table during prime time, especially when weather makes the patio not an option.
