I have been going to Yogi for 7 years to attend the Fireside Community PowWow and always loved going, I always find it peaceful and serene. I wanted to share that with my family so we just spent a weekend there in October. They loved it, there were lots of activities for my grandchildren and also activities that the entire family enjoyed. The staff was amazing and very helpful, we rented 4 cabins and have our reservations for next year, the only difference is we are staying longer. My family and I love Yogi!!!
We have been going here for Labor Day weekend since 2018. We have always stayed in the river side cabins. This year was probably our last year unfortunately. For the price you pay for a cabin on Labor Day weekend this should be much nicer. The air did not work well. The TV has never worked, yes we are outside most of the time but when it rains its nice for the kids to be able to chill inside if needed. The pool was not heated again this year. Out of the last three years we have been there the pool heater has only worked once. The cabin was missing screens in the windows. You have to play wack a mole with the light switches in the bathroom to get the fan and light to come on. The pull out sofa bed is falling apart, part of the loft banister is loose. The wireless internet does not work well at all, it needs a major upgrade to handle all the guests. Like I said we have been there for seven years. Improvements on the cabins are never made. We are going to look else where next year. Its too bad because we love the Smokey Mountains and Cherokee NC.
We just had our first trip to Yogi in the Smokies and can’t say enough good things about it. We loved the creek side site, tubing down the length of the campground, activities for the kids, hayride, rock painting. The poolside party with Wild Bill was a great time. He was so fun and friendly to everyone there. We really hope he’s there on our next visit.
During our stay, we had a serious medical emergency with one of our children. The entire staff was amazing with their response and compassion. Harold is an absolute saint! While my wife and child were at the hospital 40 minutes away, Harold drove there at 11PM to bring them back since we didn’t have an extra vehicle to get them.
All the employees were genuinely concerned throughout the rest of our stay and constantly checked to make sure our son was better.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will ABSOLUTELY be returning to Yogi in the Smokies in the future. A huge thank you to the staff.
The staff was phenomenal. Very friendly and extremely helpful. The park was a disappointment. We camped in a gravel pit. There was NO grass. The kids was unruly and had no supervision. The park allowed the kids to ride bikes well after dark with no lights. My disabled husband was almost hit twice. Excessive people were allowed on the campsites, even though the website rules states 6 people. I can honestly say this and last time camping at this campground.
Love that this campground is true to what a campground is. Located on a river, trees everywhere so tons of shade during the summer months. Scheduled activities for the kids & pet friendly.
I went on a camping trip with the family. The kids had a blast! WiFi worked good enough to make FaceTime calls. There were plenty of activities from rock painting to playgrounds and even Yogi Hay rides. The pool was clean but could get crowded quickly. The biggest selling point is tubing and fishing. There are plenty of trout! Be aware it is on tribal lands and a day permit is $10. I purchased the 3 day for $27. Well worth it and it covers all kids under 16. The price for the campsite was very reasonable. We will be returning again!
Bottom line: For $90 per night (not including fees) we expected much much more. We were anticipating the likes of Tabor City NC’s Daddy Joe Jellystone park. They do not compare (except in price)|Pros: Friendly staff. Situated alongside the trophy waters of Raven Fork. The staff provides air for inflating your tube floats. Clean restrooms and showers with warm water and good water pressure. There is camp patrol on golf carts that come through regularly during the day. |Big Cove Road from Cherokee is easy towing for campers with just one really sharp curve. |Cons: Although the address is Cherokee the campground is 9 miles from town. Big Cove Road is right across the waters of Raven Fork and road noise is continuous, including an occasional siren. Galamore Bridge Road coming into the park has several unmarked speed bumps. We scraped the undercarriage of our camper twice. There are gouges in the payment where others have also. The properties along the access road are in disrepair, littered with alcohol containers. One house has 6-7 dogs that roam the campground. They are friendly yard dogs but the campground has no gate. These are issues outside the campground’s control but would have been nice to know before we booked. |There is no Verizon signal and the WiFi did not work. Quiet hours were not observed as a tent singing group complete with instruments performed into the night. |The bathrooms, although clean were in need of updating and repair. The slide on the dumpster did not operate and the top was more than 6’ from the ground. |The power pedestal sparked when connecting and the plugs need updating. Our power connection did not fit snugly and pulled out twice. The light on top of the pedestal did not work. We were provided a list of amperage for various appliances in a handout discussing tripping the campground’s breakers. This made us question the electrical safety for our camper. |We have camped all over the US. This is the poorest quality for the price of any campground we’ve experienced. If we’d paid $40 per night, it may have been acceptable. Our grandchild does not want to return. We would not camp here again.
My family has been coming to this campground for a decade. This year there were 27 of us and, it was an amazing time!! The campground is clean and the rangers are extremely kind! We love coming here and can not wait to see you next year!!!! Thank you for a beautiful vacation!
