Best WLM Reviews

Just stayed here 10/18 to 10/20. I’ve been coming here since it was Buckeyes. I’m pregnant and stayed in a cabin with my 2 children and father. I have never been so mad before. I love getting a real camping experience and I got that except bedbugs were the last thing I expected to deal with the whole time. My children and I are covered in bites. Bedbugs are way different than other bugs like spiders. Sleeping was a living nightmare there. I did plan to leave early but when I was told I wouldn’t get a refund because I guess bedbugs are apart of “nature” we toughed it out one more night ( barely ). I’ve talked to alot of people and did research and these are definitely bedbugs. I’ll attach pictures of them and also ones I found on us full of our blood. When I crushed them blood went everywhere on our pillows and blankets.
We are in our second year of having a seasonal campsite here. The onsite staff are great! When my grandkids come to visit they enjoy the planned activities, playgrounds, jump pads, pool, carousel, and train. My husband and I move into our camper as soon as the park opens in the spring and stay here all season long. We like the location, the staff, the convenience to work and to town. Weekends are busy with lots of fun activities, but weekdays are quiet and relaxing.
I'm honestly surprised people are giving this place a 5 star review. Pool and jump pillow closed multiple times during our stay. It advertised a pond and putt putt which are both gone. The train is broken and we were told by other campers that is has been all season. The carousel needs a lot of work and is only open for about a half hour during the day. Craft time you're given your stuff then left for you to facilitate it. The bathrooms are not maintained well. Cabins are small and dirty. The hookups are a nightmare so bring an extra sewage hose just in case, ours was 30ft away. The sites are the furthest thing from level. Save your money and go to a better Jellystone.
I stayed with my family for two days. Overall impression is that the site is really worn and not well kept. There are a ton of full time or seasonal campers, which hurts the visual impression a lot, it looks more like a trailer park in some places and resort is not the word I would use. We tried some of the scheduled activities, but the lack of spirit and involvement from the employees made it less enjoyable. Crafts is coloring two buttons and two eyes on a snowman? My 4 year old daughter didn’t know if she should cry or laugh. Inspected the restrooms by the pool the first day, and the toilet was spray painted, checked it again after 24 hours and it was the same. Just disgusting. I hate giving a review like this, but I honestly have nothing positive to say other than the young girls running the place, at least tried. Thank you
To start out the lady in the office is rude and seems to hate people. We finally get out of the office and get to our holiday hut. The place is filthy. The carpets are covered in dog hair. We have no pets at all. The front door gets stuck. The bathroom door you have to slam to get shut.
I have been coming here since I was eight years old. This place when it was bucktails was amazing I couldn’t wait to come. They had so much to do. They treated you like family and best of all it was always clean and spotless. Now the place is an absolute trash heap. Trash everywhere. Lawns and grass unmowed bathhouse not cleaned in days or weeks. And all the fun attraction are gone.
I hate to do this but I will to save someone else. Spend your money somewhere else. Do not go there if it was the last place on earth. Waste of money. Staff treat you poorly. Not what it used to be.
Good place for young children, we upgraded from a smaller cabin to their biggest "cabin". The staffs help was great for the upgrade. The bigger cabin I actually a park model camper that they attached half logs to the outside. We actually stayed in this very same cabin in 2017, so 7 years ago, we let the management know back then that there were some issues with the cabin, ie no oven the master bed Is very small and when you lay on it you feel like you are laying on your head. It was still the same bed from 7 years ago and no oven just a stove top. The only reason I mention this is because I had purchased ingredients for our main supper Saturday night that required an oven. Other than that fairly quiet and peaceful campground. Would recommend if you have children.
The hill getting into the campground is pretty steep. It is paved on the right side of the road to make going uphill much easier.
Campground probably has more seasonal sites than campsites which makes for an interesting mix of people. The overnight cost for full hookups is very reasonable for the NorthEast. Water pressure was great and no issues with sewer or 50 amp electric. All goes downhill from here. The sites are RIDICULOUSLY over crowded. Not how physically close they are together, but how many cars/people are on one site. Practically every trailer site had 4 or 5 vehicles on it and 10-20 chairs around the campfire. We were unfortunate enough to be in site 54 right next to the wooden pirate ship and castle. EVERY kid AND parent just walks right through that site enroute. I do NOT recommend any site near 54.
Regardless, there were easily 100+ kids of all ages running around the campground in packs unsupervised all day Friday and Saturday. Is it always like this? Seems so from the other reviews. The roads are clogged from everyone parking wherever they want which lead to jams because bigger trailers couldn't swing the turn into a site, etc. There does not seem to be any security or any type of campground presence night or day throughout the place. You put your trash out in the morning and it doesn't get picked up until dinner time. Most sites I walked by all the bags were ripped open because they sat out all day and the critters got to them. Hate to sound like I'm being overly sensitive about the place, but compared to other campgrounds, it's not very impressive. I also agree with the other reviews in that I don't think I saw one worker there over the age of 20. It is completely run by kids and it shows. And for it to be a chain, it makes this place like a Motel 6 while KOAs are like staying at a Marriott.
Overall, it was OK at best and very odd experience. If you have another choice, I would choose it.
It's a fun place to camp. Gravel sites and most are pretty level. They have lots of activities for kids and adults. Don't miss the antique carousel and train rides. The campground store is well stocked with just about anything you need. If they don't have what you are looking for there is a Walmart about 15 minutes away.
