We've been camping here since our kids were toddlers, now they are 12, 14, and 18. We camp a lot and this one still tops our list. We still visit every year and are still amazed at how well this campground is ran. The staff and amenities are amazing. A family owned campground that still holds the true values of family camping. Highly recommend!!
The kids loved all the activities! Everything was well maintained and clean. The only downside was we had a few teens knocking on our van door at night as a prank and also another guest confronted me angrily because I didn't make eye contact with her when she said hello (I just waved and smiled which was not good enough I guess). Other than those weird interactions we had a great time!
Usually we camp at Hagerstown Yogi but decided to try Mill Run this year. I doubt we will come back. Mill Run doesn’t enforce any type of rules. At Hagerstown each site is provided with 4 wristbands a site and any additional people are extra. At Mill Run you can pack as many people you want to a site or cabin apparently which results in soooo much overcrowding. The site next to us had a camper plus tenters on it. There were probably 15 people staying on one site. There were probably 8 children and we were woke up bright and early by them every day.
Golf carts aren’t regulated. We would have thought after having a child life flighted Memorial Day weekend they would have gotten stricter with them but that does not appear to be the case. We saw so many teenagers driving them around. Why bother putting wristbands on adults if you aren’t going to monitor them anyways? We had seen in the past Hagerstown confiscating golf carts for this reason.
Clearly rules aren’t not enforced when you see teenagers walking around the pool with alcohol.
Every morning starting at 7 am you could hear either chain saws or weed eaters running.
Majority of the staff clearly hate their job and most of them make you feel like you are burden. At the foam fun, the kid running the machine repeatedly kept complaining outloud how much he hated his job.
We do love the upgraded golf and didn’t mind paying the $5 since it is very nice.
We did the ceramics and they did not have paper towels. My husband had to drive back up over the hill and grab paper towels. Again another experience where the employees acted like we were a burden to them.
The paddle boats are a little hidden gem. We did enjoy them. My daughter loved the foam fun.
The pool area is very nice but with the growth of the park you need to add more chairs to the upper pool!
We've been to quite a few Jellystones all over, we've been to alot of campgrounds, even Hershey, and this one rates better than any other camp ground and close to best resort and hotel we've ever been to. It's not a hotel but it's in our top 5 stay overnight places in all of the US for sure.
1. It's clean, I always bring bleach and cleaners and this is the one place I was like actually it doesn't need cleaned before we go in.
2. The staff, let me say this a million times the staff is awesome. Not one staff had a bad attitude, the man that ran the rides for my son's the last two days was awesome, all the women in the store were so kind and so helpful and so nice. The woman checking us in, was awesome. that is a first for everywhere we have went, there's always a bad staff member that ruins it all.
3. There's so much for kids to do
From 9am to 10pm and later, there is activities. They have a pony cart, a carousel, a train ride, a fire truck ride, arts and crafts, a army truck ride, a picnic basket Express and I'm sure im forgetting something
4. So much other stuff to do Three pools, tons of water slides, two spray areas, two arcades, a movie screen, golf, really fun snowless snow tubing, and more
5. This really is the best place, you dont have to leave the camp ground at all, they have all the supplies in the store and even have a kitchen
We love to check out Jellystones, so this has been high on our list. We spent a week here.
Location is not an easy approach with a 5th wheel from the turnpike, some sketchy steep back roads, so you may need to do additional planning on approach and departure.
There is a ton of options in park, lower park water slides(2), upper water slides(4), with 2 pools upper and a very large splash pad.
A nicely obtained events list is available every 3 days, that details in park activities, pay and free.
Stayed on site 415, which is close to the upper pools and water slides. Not as big rig friendly as some of the other sites in this row or next row over, tight turn into the site scraped trees and dragged bottom on entrance and exit taking the widest turn possible out of the site.
Overall, 4* as there is plenty to do, huge park. Premium sites leave a little to be desired and the sites themselves are small(yard wise) compared to other parks. Having to pay for mini golf is a huge draw back as we have been to 6 other Jellystones and never had to pay for golf, granted nice course but should be an inclusive amenity. Outside of staged events - pay events, you rarely see the bears, which is a bummer.
Covered wagon was cozy and accommodating. So many fun activities for my family and I to do. We enjoyed our little vacation up there. Overall a very nice place to be. However when I went on the snowless tubing, after I sent 2 of my daughter's down, I went down, for some reason mid hill my tube spun around and flipped. I hit the back of my head on the spikey rubber track, saw stars for a moments and I cheese grated up my back from sliding a couple of feet. My daughters were frightened, I immediately got up and told them I was ok and got off of the track. Meanwhile the back of my head was bleeding and an instant migraine set in. Accidents happen. It was fun up until it flipped. However the employee at the top nor at the bottom did not ask me if I was ok, did not check on me, did not seem to care to even offer me an "are you ok sir? Do you need medical attention?" I work in emergency medicine, luckily I went back to the campsite and got myself patched up. I loved my experience at Jellystone,Mill Run, except for that particular moment which was absolutely appalling.
Imagine trying to relax while hearing about 50 lawn mowers simultaneously driving by your camp at all hours of the day. If this sounds appealing, this is the place for you. You see, the place is so large that they rent golf carts (for a hefty price). These golf carts, while convenient, are so obnoxiously loud and they are EVERWHERE. The camp store/restaurant is a disaster. We arrived in the evening so while my family was setting up camp, I ran up to the restaurant to order a pizza for dinner. First, you cannot order online or call in an order. I drive there, walk to the counter, and order the pizza. They hand me a slip and tell me that I have to go and pay at the store register before I can officially order the pizza. So, I wait in line for 25 minutes just to order the pizza. Then...I wait for them to make the pizza. In the meantime, I look around the store and decide to buy some firewood and ice. Oh wait...I get to wait in line for another half hour. I'm trying to be optimistic and assume that this is just a busy time and that the line is not always that long. Unfortunately, I was wrong. You see, the two or three registers that are open in the store handle every transaction i.e. check-ins, renting golf carts, restaurant orders, store transactions, general questions, etc. There HAS to be a better way. For example, how about we allow online ordering and pay for the restaurant. How about a self-checkout for store items or at least one designated register for people who just need to purchase something from the store. Then a separate check-in register for people have questions, are checking in, golf cart rentals, and other timely transactions.
While the pools are wonderful, it was difficult to find an available chair. They have cabanas that you can rent…of course you must wait in the ridiculous store line for that. When we were first looking at the cabanas, a staff member was quick to let us know that we would have to rent these and we could charge the fee to our campsite, however, why couldn’t they handle this transaction for us by the pool? Yes, I would love to drag my 4 children into the store and stand in line for 30 minutes to rent a cabana just so that I have a chair to put my belongings.
We stayed near the lower pool, but it closed earlier as well as the splash area. Why??? Also, the snack shop near the lower pool was never open.
Now let’s talk about the cost of this place. Renting sites and cabins are not cheap. There are a lot of amenities (for a price). Then the store…$45 for a Yogi bear hoodie?? For a minute I thought I was a Disney. So, lets sum this up…
Cons: Cost, horrendous store line, camp sites are SMALL, the place is very noisy.
Pros: A lot of activities for the kids, the place was well maintained, check out was easy.
Loved our visit. It was too short. Nice facilities. Met family. They were in a cabin & we rented an rv; practically next door. Lots of rain, but we found things to do. Will visit again for a longer stay.
