I guess I should have gotten the fried chicken, but instead, I got gizzards. They were just OK. The fried corn was not good at all. I took one bite and ended up throwing the rest away because it had a real bad burnt taste to it. The Mash potatoes were like the kind you would get from a hospital cafeteria . The best part of my meal was the sweet tea.
I had high hopes, but the chicken just lacked flavor, was moist and minimally processed, I just wanted more. The side (beans) felt like they were out of a can. Food was dirt cheap and the quality of the chicken was high.
How sweet it is. The last YOGI BEAR’S HONEY FRIED CHICKEN restaurant in the U.S. It’s located in Hartsville, SC (Close to Myrtle Beach!)
We were in the area and thought it would be fun to give this place a try. Who doesn’t love Yogi Bear?! The parking lot was full when we arrived and we noticed a lot of folks eating their food in their vehicles. Stepping into the restaurant is like going back in time to the 1970’s. While waiting at the counter to order, we saw the staff was friendly and seemed to know everyone as locals/regulars. I ordered the three piece drumstick meal, which was accompanied by two sides and a roll, and my date had the three piece dark meal. Note that they do not have unsweet tea - or at least, were out of it while we were there. The fried chicken was very good! I didn’t feel it was sweet at all and it is served with honey on the side if that is your preference. The sides were not great. Between the two of us, we tried the mash/gravy, green beans, mac and cheese, and the coleslaw. The green beans were served southern style - which means they basically dissolve in your mouth and you don’t have to chew. The mac and cheese was overly peppered, and the coleslaw was a bit too tangy for me and had a very fine dice. I love crinkle cut fries, and wish I would have tried those instead. It’s hot in SC…and people were probably eating their food in their vehicles because it was 84 inside this restaurant. I would have the fried chicken again, but as takeaway.
The fried chicken was good. I would highly recommend it. My only issue were the sides they were pretty average and weren't really anything I would want to try again. The sweet tea was really good, though.
No taste to food. Only thing good was my drink and the fresh fries. Mac nasty pork chop nasty beans nasty ehhhh catfish nasty. Maybe I’m just picky but damn. I ordered online thinking it would b fast but no waited almost 45 to an hour in the call in line . This is to hyped up . Online don’t give me a choice to add fish type. To my knowledge it was only one kind of fish.
I went to place and ordered the food. It took one hour and 17 minutes to get 2 pieces of flounder and fries. I requested my money back after an hour and wasn't given it back but given cold fries. It was a mix up with price before even ordering. When I got the food the fish was salty. It was awful customer service. No apologies. I guess I should have paid attention to the other aggravated customers in line. My last visit there.
My wife and I decided to take a little trip from Lake Wylie to eat here and it was worth it. Good prices and good food. We both got the 3 piece drumsticks meal and each got the battered fried corn while she got mac and cheese for her other side and I got green beans. All the food was delicious, the chicken was hot and crispy and that battered fried corn, shoot, that was right good let me tell ya! We also got a fried apple pie, man was it good too. Definitely some good eatin to be had here without needing to take out a second mortgage to pay for the meal.
