We decided to take a nice drive through Amish Country on our way home from a conference in DC. Obviously, we wanted to stop for lunch! We found Yoders via Google Maps and thought it looked like a fun place to try!
When we turned I to the parking lot, we realized that the Yoders own the entire complex and have a restaurant, country store and craft store! We checked out some of the crafts but really made a bee line for the restaurant.
When we got in, the place was very underwhelming. Very basic and plain. But the people were super nice and service was decent. It also looked like a lot of locals stoped for the Sunday brunch which was cool. Sunday brunch includes both breakfast and lunch options at an all you can eat buffet.
The food was very hit or miss. Some of it was excellent, some mediocre, a few things were terrible. They had multiple grill stations going for everything from omelets to pancake to corn fritters! The only thing that was a bitter disappointment was the the sweet rolls/breads. And there weren’t any desserts!
I would say, overall, it was very middle of the road. Def worth trying, but we wouldn’t make any special effort to go back.
With that said, if you’re in the area and hungry, check this place out. If you leave hungry…. Well that’s on you!
It's a great experience at a local all you can eat buffet. Little smaller than usual a lot of locals come in who know the servers by name. The MTO grill in the back is a nice touch I had a good steak. I love the make it yourself ice cream station as well.
It’s nothing fancy. But it’s cozy! You walk in and they have a little shop filled with handmade crafts and books and such. And you can walk right in and get seated. The buffet is nice limited choices eggs, tater tots, chip cream beef, pancakes, cereal and a few other choices. The staff is extremely friendly and the facility itself is super clean. Once your done with your food you can exit right into the Yoder market without even stepping outside which is a huge plus during inclement weather conditions. Plenty of parking and easy access if you are handicapped or disabled. A great spot for a quick meal!
There was a lot of hype, but the food was just so-so. If I'm going to consume Smorgasbord calories, the dishes shouldn't taste like they came from a cafeteria and we're scooped out of a can and heated up. The New York Strip wasn't good either...charred outside, too pink inside. If you do go. The goulash and ham and cheese dip were good. The pot roast was alright and the spiced applesauce was good. I liked the meadow tea, but that's kinda hard to mess up. Our server was the best part. She was kind and helpful.
Classic family style restaurant with nice size buffet. We had a large group there on a Friday morning for breakfast and they accommodated us well in a back room. I love that they have omelettes and pancakes and crepes and waffles made to order at the griddles. Friendly staff.
Nice place. It seemed clean, a bit on the older side, but it's still really nice. The selection of food was nice and fair but not as large as some buffets. I think they had 4 hot bars, maybe 5. It's not huge but nice, and then a desert buffet in back with soft ice cream.
We were looking for some Amish eating places, however most of them remain closed on Sundays ????. This buffet restaurant actually had all American fare, including some specialities of Pensilvanya Dutch. It’s an all you can eat type buffet place with live counters where you can order for pancakes, crepes, or omelets, etc. The buffet was quite big including a big salad bar, dessert bag, hot bar with some Pensilvanya Dutch style potato, etc. They have many options, however, overall very basic and cheap eat.
First time dining here and we really enjoyed it. Got the buffet. Service was decent, wasn’t good or bad. It was prime rib night. It was really tender and juicy. Could’ve used a little more seasoning, but it was actual prime rib and all you can eat. Was surprised with the quality.
The ham balls were in a delicious pineapple sauce. I liked the mac and cheese and added stewed tomatoes. Ham was good. As were the mixed vegetables. Buttered noodles first pan was hard and crunchy. They brought new out and they were much better. Was told the salmon was very tasty but cooked a little long so dry.
For dessert I had apple pie and a couple brownies. Both were good. Was told the egg custard was good. Self serve soft serve with a variety of toppings. While they had fruit pies and pumpkin I was disappointed there was no shoofly. It’s one of my favorites.
I read some reviews that mentioned going to Shady Maple instead. I’m glad we decided to go to Yoders. I’ve been to Shady Maple a couple times and I enjoyed Yoders much more. May have some more items at Shady Maple, but thought the food was better at Yoders. This is right up there with Hershey Farms as our favorite smorgasbords.
