Very welcoming and comfortable home-like atmosphere. The food was really good overall. I didn't care for the Mac and chesse, and the red beans and rice need a little more jazzing up, but overall, it's really good. The baked chicken OMG, simply perfection! Very spacious sitting area and nice and clean. Finally, tea cakes that taste like they should, YES!!
Hey all in all the food was great!
They could add some more seasoning/spice, but the overall taste of the 'actual' food was great and I will be returning.
The price point was fair at about $15 after tax for the Turkey Wing meal pictured.
I have been going here for a few years now. Since I’ve started going here I’ve been to four or five other soul food restaurants around the Houston and surrounding areas. None of these other places even come close to being as good as Yo Mommy’s. Not to mention but Yo momma’s is way more fair on their prices. These other places I have been to are almost double in price. The people who work here are very friendly and welcoming. Also I love that it’s a small mom and pop restaurant. Thank you Yo Momma and your staff for great food and hospitality.
Great food and people! Smothered pork chops, green beans, black eyed peas, rice, and cornbread. A must stop when in the Houston area!
To be quite honest it was so much going on at this place that it would take me too long to tell you the issues. I just know that I will not be returning back to this establishment to spend any of my hard-earned money. I will say that older gentleman that walked in and went straight behind the food line didn't wash his hands, nobody had gloves on while handling the food. Mind you this is my first time visiting this establishment, I was visiting Houston area and wanted to try the food. The doors didn't open until 12:06, once wr got in it was a nice lady who tried to assist us. There was no no macaroni and cheese rating for the line and I asked how long would it take you said about 25 minutes so we wait because I wanted macaroni and cheese. I was so disappointed when they brought it out it was cold. I took it back up and asked if they could heat it up, the guy that I assume was the owner got upset with me and stated " my people" I asked him if he was talking about because I wanted and expected my food to be hot. Especially with me waiting 25 minutes for the mac and cheese. This man has no customer service, he repeatedly we had reasons why was cold because we was asking for the mac and cheese so they took it out early. This is how it is now organized I didn't see any type of hand-washing and I should have turned around, when I seen him come in with all those rings on his hands without washing them. I must say A lady named Miss Pat came out talked to me twice because she saw how frustrated I was.I enjoyed speaking with her. I got boxes to go and left.....
Man, what a magnificent place. The service is just wonderful i was treated like family by the sweet beautiful lady. NIce, cozy little place to eat and the food, the food was delicious!!!

I stopped by this past Sunday to get me and my father n law something to eat and there was lady there with different color hair that was rude. Because of this I won't be coming back.
