Best WLM Reviews

It was my first time ordering here and I wasn’t sure how rice orders worked. I asked on the phone and was told that the entrees would come with a small rice, they did not. I ordered an extra 2 large rice just in case and was pretty disappointed that they weren’t even filled to the top. The one on the left was mostly clumps of rice so it was more disappointing that it was barely filled over half.
I got yen Ching chicken and it was good, but if you like spice I would definitely get the end of the scale because a 3 was very mild for me. Portions on the entree were excellent though.
Mapo tofu had a great flavor and again the portion size was excellent for the price.
Overall, my biggest qualm was the amount of rice when ordering a side. I would double up on that if you like rice with your entree.
Will definitely be ordering again though.
The restaurant was beautiful. I loved the art and the cherry and plum blossoms that were all over the restaurant. The waitress was very nice and helped answer questions about the menu. I grew up in Springfield, MO and they have a distinctive flavor for cashew chicken. This place's almond chicken reminded me of that flavor. My wife had a prawns dish that was also quite excellent.
On the way back from a day trip to Mount Rainier National Park, we stopped here for dinner. The food here was kind of westernized Chinese. The vegetables were a little undercooked. The service was very good.
Tasty food and friendly service. Nice atmosphere, but bench cushion was "repaired " with tape retracting from quality ambiance.
I am 64 years old and use to "old school" Chinese Restaurants and I have to say that I have been disappointed with many modern Chinese Restaurants versions of fried Rice. Now,... there are only two Restaurants that make the "Old School" Fried Rice. One, is Yen Ching, in Lakewood, WA. Their Chinese Restaurant is also decorated in the traditional "Old School" Chine Restaurant style. You get the great atmosphere from the past AND, also, the "old school", TRADITIONAL style FRIED RICE. I am VERY picky about my fried rice and Yen Ching's is AWESOME!!! I had Pork Fried Rice when I went. also, my daughter and I shared Sweet and Sour Chicken and it was Excellent. GREAT TRADITIONAL "OLD STYLE" Chinese Restaurant. Not many like this left!
Update for September 4th 2023
*Went to visited today and got our normal but we decided to add Mongolian beef to give it a try. Food was great as always and we were getting ready to leave and a person in our party decided that they were going to leave a small tip so we go to get up after we've filled out our credit card paper and the lady decides to slowly come near me and whisper at me saying that normally we add 15% tip automatically to your bill, but we haven't been doing that to you the last couple times we've been here. I looked at her and I told her well. It's not mandatory for us to tip and that we just wouldn't be back there. This is all even after she was already given a tip. Let's needless to say it. She wasn't happy with what she was given and she expected us to give her more so now they just lost our business
With our standards, this place is amazing, almond chicken is the best in the city, the fried rice and noodles are amazing and the egg foo young was good. The environment was nice and colorful. Will definitely be back again.
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful. Nice zen feeling. The food was delicious. I have been trying to find a local Chinese restaurant and this is it for me!!! Wonton soup was delicious, flavorful. Almond fried chicken was yummy and the gravy was so yummy. Fried rice was very good.
The food wasn't bad, but the Mongolian beef was cold when we were served. It was replaced, but the server had to be waived down each time we needed something addressed (such as cold food, or getting the check). Very mid experience.
