Best WLM Reviews

I have had nothing but great experiences with Yelm Family they have cared for myself and my two kids with precision, patience and kindness. They have been there to help me throughout my time there with my family and we would highly recommend them to anyone! We were so happy to have such great doctors and staff for our medical needs.
I have heard of both good and bad experiences from this place, with the good experiences being exclusively connected to the tradition of family being patients and not related to quality of medical care.
Hour plus wait times were standard even with advanced booking (Providence ER was faster by an hour). I was typically asked what I thought I wanted to take vs. being guided by sound medical advice. Forgetting to call in prescriptions, lack of staffing in the lab, aloof front desk staff, incorrect prescription dosages, prescriptions over general wellness, floating hours of availability, excessive time between booking an appointment and the appointment.
Friendly reminder here: This isn’t the 1800s anymore. This system needs to be improved or they need to close.
When my wife and I moved to Yelm we were excited to have a doc close. After 2 visits I do not think I will be returning, it almost felt as if “I’m better than you attitude” to go with that. They will not let us return until we can pay more than we can afford at this time. We have certain things we need to be seen for and I have never heard of a doctor office doing this before and I will not be returning.
My kids have went here multiple times. Drs have been amazing but the billing department is shady. All 4 kids had an appointment at same time so I went the day before and updated my insurance with the lady at the front. They scanned my license and insurance Like normal. Went to the dr in December like always no problems. Well a couple months later they start calling me leaving me messages about my insurance denying the claim. Call them back and discuss the insurance and the problem so I call my insurance and they said the claim was approved and settled. So call them back and told them the date it was approved. Then a few months later I start receiving mail about my account going into collections. So I go up there with proof where blue cross approved the claim they tell me they never received any money and I need to call them and figure out why. Well that is their job to call and figure out why not mine but I call anyways and they tell me that the dr office needs to call the Washington branch of my insurance and discuss it with them I’m in the office and they tell the lady the same thing. Well they go back and talk to billing and comes back to me and tells me they see what happened on the account and that’s why the lady that put my insurance in no longer works there because of this kind of stuff happening with her. Well that is not my fault and now they sent my account to collections and having to deal with that. If it was YOUR fault why am I having to deal with collections over the billing departments fault. Stay away from this place this is not the first I’ve heard of them doing this.
Then 5 days after this review I receive this in the mail
I called needing an appointment, once they realized my need for medical care was urgent they provided me with appointment options next day and two days out. I ended up taking an appointment two days later because if fit my schedule. The wait time was a little bit on the longer side but the care I received was great, everyone was friendly and took care of my needs same day.
I have had Dr Bunn for approximately 5 years now. My experience with her is that she is very on board with your medical care and very thorough and Caring. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great doctor.
Not proactive in patient care, they will wait for symptoms to worsen before giving a referral. Dr. Unruhs team shows lack of care- specifically Vanessa. I was left a voicemail that based on my symptoms, Im possibly having a miscarriage- the at home test was negative, I have an IUD, and I’ve never been pregnant before. That voicemail felt way out of line and inappropriate. Vanessa also put sentences into the patients notes that I didn’t say and she also did not document in that conversation that even if I did get a referral- per Vanessa, “it’s booked out months so it’s not like you’d be seen soon anyways” she also marked me as “no longer a patient of yfm” when that was not told to me or even discussed in the conversation so I’m left without care three weeks before we move with ongoing pain and issues.
The last time I had issues, I never got a call after bloodwork to discuss or even a follow up call. I saw the notes but they were simple “normal” type comments. Vanessa put it on me that I should have called the dr to follow up and ask questions when the dr told me I would be getting a call. Blaming the patient for your lack of due diligence is inappropriate.
I went to the urgent care who did way more than Unruhs team and it turns out I had cysts rupturing. I do not feel as though this facility is practicing proactively and I am incredibly disheartened at the lack of care and my issues being dismissed in such a manner by Vanessa.
I will be placing a complaint to the medical board as well as the Tricare health system.
Edit: it’s been 9 months since this instance and I still think about the voicemail left. I know that might be dramatic but telling someone that they are possibly having a miscarriage is a big statement to leave with a patient and leaves lasting affects. I carry a lasting fear that I may miscarry in the future when my family is choosing to grow.
I have had a wonderful Dr there for over 12 years. Nursing staff for my Dr has been amazing. However, the office staff is forever changing. When you call you will sit on hold and wait for anyone to answer the phones for what seems like forever. I’ve waited over an hour for a SCHEDULED appointment. (We have things to do too) Though I’m given a 15 minute “late” appointment. My appointments are rushed. Great Dr. Just not the best “office”
