Yellowfinn is a Sugar House gem serving exquisite Japanese food in an environment that exudes major neighborhood pub energy. I don't recall ever feeling more at home or authentically welcomed to a place on my first visit.
The menu is about 80% gluten free, so it makes it easy for diners with those issues.
I recommend the hamachi nigiri, Utah roll and tempura banana for dessert. The creamesicle saketini is perfect.
This is a place you need to try.
I love this place! Everything about it was so good! I loved everything that we ordered! My mom got the Jolly Rancher and the Chuck Norris, and I got El Jefe and Crunchy Groove! I also tried Hot Sake for the first time with some Plum Wine added to it. It was really good! It was so amazing and so good, and our server was amazing they were really good on recommendations and attentive to our needs. Loved her so much she was so kind and funny!
The food was delicious at a great price. Our server was excellent and did a great job taking care of us. The coconut curry was delicious, with spicy tuna and salmon rolls.
Excellent experience last night. Staff are friendly. The music, lighting, and all around vibe was on point. Melissa, our server, was amazing. She bantered, joked, and laughed with us. The food was on point. I haven’t had that good of sushi in a very long time. I highly highly recommend. Five star for sure.
Staff was extremely friendly and prompt with service. The restaurant space is relaxing and welcoming. Definitely fits into the sugar house fun and casual atmosphere. Yellowfin has a nice outdoor covered patio space which was awesome to sit in. And the best part of the experience was the food. The sushi rolls were absolutely incredible. The drink menu is solid. Can't wait to come back.
*Always* love the great people here, and have been coming here for at least 12 years? Great vegan options and, y'know, other foods too. It's a sushi spot. You know what they serve. Everything I've had I've loved, and my fish/meat eating friends always want to come back here. Amazing staff too. Like, the best people. The. Best.
I'd post a photo of the food but I eat it before I think " the Gram! Google! Uh, other sites!" so yeah.
It’s worth going just to sit on the patio and hear the water while you eat. Just wish they would get rid of the brick lining the edge of the patio and replace it with something else to hear the water better and get the city to clean up the view of the creek. The trees offer cooler temperatures and the staff are friendly. The sushi is good other items were mediocre.
I had the Bento box. The teriyaki chicken and salad were good. The tempura vegetables were also good but I wish they would have come with a dipping sauce that was not sweet. The crab in the California rolls tasted like artificial Krab. The person I was with got the Udon noodles and tempura shrimp and vegetables. She liked everything she had and remarked that the broth that came with the noodles was delicious. We both had large glasses of a light tasting draft beer. I don’t remember what kind it was (I don’t think it was on the on-line menu) but it was really good. We sat outside and could hear the nearby creek running. We had a female server that took excellent care of us.
