Had crispy pork and soy sauce chicken rice for lunch. Price was cheaper than listed on menu, and surprisingly came with soup. Probably a lunch special. Around $16. Large portion. Some of the pork had crispy skin and the meat was quite moist. Chicken lacked favor. Not a bad deal though.
I would give this restaurant 0 star if google allows me to do so.
I had a bowl of sampan porridge there this morning. The porridge is just so so, not as delicious as what I had in Guangzhou. However, the real drama happened at the time I went to pay the bill.
The cashier's attitude is pretty bad! He told me that they only accept cash and I can't pay the bill by card for only a $10 porridge. I told him that I didn't have cash at hand, and I would like to pay by card. He replied in a humiliating manner: "how can you come to eat porridge and don't even have $10?" I thought they might have a minimum required amount for card payment, so I said: "what about I pay you $30 by card and you give me $20 change?" Then he replied that it is Sunday morning and we don't have change. In fact I saw him got lots of cash in the pocket. Finally I went to the ATM nearby to withdraw a $50 note to pay, then he had cash change now, and ask me to pay another $1 for the tip. Oh, such a bad service and dare to ask for tips!
This is my worst dining experience in US so far. I will never come to this restaurant again, and I strongly recommend that you don't try this restaurant, unless you want to ruin your good mood in your trip.
It's a really shame on them. Obviously they want to avoid some tax. Later my friend in America told me that it is illegal for a restaurant to force the client to do cash payment and refuse card payment, and I can sue them and win for sure. How can the cashier in this restaurant be so arrogant while doing obviously illegal things? Did he think that tourists are stupid and easy to cheat?
This is an old school no frills restaurant, serving great food at low prices. Been coming here for years and never had a bad experience. Their beef stew and roast pork are superb.
This was a fantastic meal. Waiters are straight to the point and no messing around. Great duck, chicken wings, broccoli, chow fun, and more. We ordered 5 entrees for 5 people with big appetites- it was perfect portion for all and for very affordable price. I come here every time we have visitors in town/visiting SF, we will definitely be back
It was our first time to this restaurant. The food that I ordered wasn't good. I ordered Cha Siew Wonton Noodle Soup, the taste wasn't good and I didn't know they used big noodle, the taste of the soup was no good at all.
Stopped into Yee’s restaurant for lunch with friends and the wife. We have been coming here for years. The food is amazing. The prices are very fair.
The food here is very affordable and authentic old school Hong Kong style. Can’t really compared to the more modern/refined Hong Kong dishes.
Regardless this isn’t bad, my lunch beef chowfun comes with a free “house” soup which was surprisingly good, it’s make by boiling pork bones for a very long time, you can tell by the stickiness of your lips by the bone marrow soup. Yum.
The beef chowfun plate was full of beef and plenty big for $13, it was bit salty for my taste but have enough leftover to take home. Wouldn’t mind trying the Charsiu rice plate next time.
San Francisco City, please inspect this place! There were raw food placing on the table and it smelled bad!
I would give Yee’s Chinese Restaurant zero stars if I could. Our family came in for breakfast and were greeted by a rude waiter who simply pointed to a table without a word. After waiting for what felt like an eternity, no one brought us a menu. A woman, who seemed like she might be the owner, rudely instructed us to grab the menu from the wall. What a fantastic start!
When the food finally arrived, it looked and tasted like it was bought from an instant store and thrown into a bowl. Absolutely awful. To top it all off, when we asked for the check, the waiter demanded, "CASH ONLY!" After we paid and left a tip, he had the audacity to say, "THAT'S IT? EVERYBODY TIPS MORE!"
We reluctantly gave more just to avoid a scene, but there was no thank you or any sign of appreciation. The service was atrocious, the food was terrible, and the staff was unbelievably rude. Avoid this place at all costs! Would never recommend it to anyone.
