Drove 30 minutes because this is the last yayas in the area. Was not disappointed, same classic taste! Chicken was cooked just right and food was great! Will be back soon!
We had a take out, that was a family meal. 8 tiny pieces of chicken, medium size baked beans and a medium size mashed potatoes with gravy. I had a coupon for $5 off. The total still came to $29.77. I get home no gravy at all. The prices are way out of line for the amount of food you receive!!! Find another place to buy a chicken dinner. When I called the owner could have cared less about my experience. Stay away from this place!!
Flame broiled chicken goodness in a retro time capsule! Do you crave fantastic flame broiled chicken? Do you want to experience an original, 1980s fast food atmosphere? If your answer is yes to either of these questions, Yaya’s is for you!
FOOD: While simple, the food is fantastic. The chicken is a must, most people go for the mashed potatos, rice or salad for sides. There is only ranch dressing for the salad and no sauces for the chicken. I’d usually be annoyed by this, but at Yaya’s this is perfectly fine and part of the experience.
FACILITIES: This is an original, vintage 1980s restaurant that looks like a warp to 1984 inside - not worn down or bad, but in cool original well kept way. They could totally use this place for a movie set in the early 1980s.
IMPORTANT: This place is so old school it is CASH ONLY!
Had a delicious chicken salad that was full of flavor. The salad was simple with lettuce and tons of chicken and was truly delicious. The creamy dressing is provided on the side and also has an amazing taste. Have had this chicken salad many times in the past and it never disappoints.
grew up in the area my whole life. used to frequent the old 49th st location as a kid- we are huge yaya's fans. i prefer this location to the 34th st location- chicken @ 34th st location seemed to have always been a hit or miss as far as having enough marinade. we had the best post-hurricane meal today here. chicken was a 10/10. left full and happy. great staff like always.
The chicken is still great & healthy, and the salad dressing is fabulous! There are plenty of places to park (right off US 19, in front of Lowes) and lots of booths are inside, with a separate dining area, too. The gentleman who took our order is the owner, and you can tell that he takes pride in his product. If we were going straight home after lunch, we would have ordered a cold pack for dinner!
The gentleman next to us asked about the chicken salad, which we love. He had the 3 piece meal - another of our favorites. We also overheard patrons behind us raving about the chicken (“so fresh! So good!”). Happy patrons!!
This was our first time in a Yayas and we loved it. The only downside is they only except cash but the food and service overcame that 10/10 ????
Absolutely the best service I've had in a long time and most definitely the best chicken I've had in my life way better tasting then any fried chiken place in the county the flavor and tender juicy chiken the lobby is little outdated and I'd prefer chairs over booths but that's all on me lol the most important part is the food and service also the mashed potatoes and pitta with honey butter 10 out 10
