Best WLM Reviews

I have been to Grand Canyon twice in a year and the first time I stayed at a hotel right outside of the park entrance that was highly rated. I didn’t care for the hotel nearly as much as the Yavapai Lodge. This property is absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny to stay inside the park.
I loved how dark it was at night. There were Elk everywhere.
The restaurant was my only gripe for breakfast. We didn’t know it was for a group until we had been standing in line for breakfast for awhile to be asked for a ticket. Which we did not have because it was for a group. No breakfast was offered in the hotel.
There is a gift shop, grocery store, restaurants and coffee place. It’s everything you need.
I highly recommend going on a Night Sky adventure to see all the stars.
Rooms were large and comfy. We had a great time. I would stay here again over any of the other hotels. I liked that I was away from busyness
They should really consider changing the name from "Lodge" to something else. It felt more like a Motel 6 than a lodge. Regardless, we weren't planning on spending time in the room so it was adequate. We stood in line way too long to check in at about 10 am. The hours of the coffee shop were way to short and they don't open early enough. The coffee machine in the room didn't work. I notified a staff member and she said "OK" but did nothing about it. My wife bought a shirt in the gift shop. It turned out to be too small so she went back in just about an hour later to exchange it for the next size up and the lady working the gift shop really gave us attitude about it. Lastly, I was under the impression that I was given the best rate available, yet when I got on their website the day we checked in I found out I could have gotten the room for $100 less. This was an exploratory trip to plan for a longer family vacation. We will definitely not be staying at the Yavapai. On a positive note, the bed was clean and comfortable.
Good for the price but small changes could make it much better. No wifi.... Really? Hair in the bathroom when we arrived. Sheets around the duvet instead of a duvet cover. You do not want to look at the duvet itself, stained and disgusting. No housekeeping, not even an option to get more coffee. No microwave. Also the place is very badly lit, good luck finding your room in the dark. Saw so many u-turns and 3 point turns because no one can see anything. Even to just light up the main building signs that says what room numbers reside there.
You are close to everything. Staff was mediocre. It's November though - the end of tourist season so I'm sure they are all over it.
this wasn't what I expected in that it was not within easy walking distance of the Grand Canyon. So that may have colored my rating of the hotel a little bit. I had hoped to set up by the Grand Canyon until dark and then go to the hotel, but it's either required a car or a bus ride. And the buses were crowded, and since it was November I don't think it would have been doable for me in season. However I must say that the handicap room was one of the better ones I've ever had. I had a handicapped room which actually had handicap doors, space to hang clothes at half height, and room to maneuver. I still think it was a bit of a walk for someone who was using a walker, although someone with a wheelchair would be okay. However it did have a tub and not a roll-in shower. They did have a shower chair. The room was satisfactory, but it was kind of like being at an old camp, as the buildings for that far from the road, dark, and surrounded by trees. I personally would not stay here again simply because it was not close enough to the canyon, and I'm getting old enough that the extra steps have become challenging for me. However if I was a young 20 , or not dealing with the physical limitations of an older body, it would have been great. We were disappointed that there was no freezer in the fridge to refreeze our ice packs, and that there was no microwave Which had us leaving the park to get a hot meal that was physically accessible.
Very close to everything for Grand Canyon. There is a grocery store nearby. The restaurant dining hall is also very good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There were few people when we went, but the walls did not seem very soundproof. Moreover, there is no wifi in the rooms, which was a surprise. Other than that, i would recommend.
Great place to stay especially if you have pets. Our dogs were very happy with their stay and loved the welcome toys. Window from our room had a great view to the trees. The lodge is super close to the visitor center and beautiful views of the canyon.
We read the review online before booking. Our hiking trip plan was to hike from South Rim to North Rim and return to South Rim after 1 night rest at the north end. So, we stayed at the lodge for 3 nights, that's 2 nights before an 1 night after our hike. Our group of 6 booked 5 rooms in total. All rooms had musty smells, but overall the beds were comfortable other than that. But the returning stay was absolutely awful. After our hike, we checked in around 10pm, and found the tub was stopped up, the vanity faucet was locked up, and the drain stopped. We reported to the front desk right away. The staff on duty was Max, he said he is the only person at the front desk and can't get any maintenance guy over this late. But we only stay for one night, and would really need a hot shower after hiked 17 hours from the north rim. So, we bathed with our feet soaked in muddy water in the shower. We eventually used a spoon forced the vanity faucet to open up and stopper to pop up. That's how we could brush teeth.
The point is these fundamental items should have been inspected before guests checked in, given the fact the most travelers are here for hiking. A working show would be considered critical for us.
We reached out to the front desk the next morning. The manager said there is a public shower. First of all, no one told us so. Secondly, we booked a room with shower and shouldn't be expected to take a public shower. They offered no compensation for this terrible service.
I really hope the management will make some improvements, and so no one else will have a similar experience as we did.
This was our first time visiting Yavapai Lodge and were THRILLED. The view from our room was trees and wildlife. The kennel for our dog was very large and we had no worries leaving him safely while we went to dinner or just out a bit. The area was beautiful and every employee we interacted with seemed genuinely happy to help and work there. We plan on going again!
