Who doesn't love an old-fashioned ice cream shop??
This is a popular place to be prepared if there is a line.
Their burgers and fries are really good, but the food takes a while to come out.
The ice cream is good, and the portion sized for the price is a great deal.
I love the vibe, very nostalgic.
It's definitely a beloved part of Sanford.
Yarborough's Home Made Ice-cream is the absolute best! I had the coconut/pineapple Ice-cream. It had coconut and pineapple bits in it. The Ice-cream was smooth and tasted wonderful. I also had a chocolate chip cookie. There were giant pieces of chocolate in it. I recommend this store for dessert.
Great mom and pop restaurant. The workers were friendly and took our orders quickly. We came with a big church group, so it took a while for everyone to get their food. It was brought out hot and delicious. After we ate, some of us wanted to get some of their homemade ice cream. After standing at the counter for 15 to 20 minutes, we asked someone how we could get waited on. Since we hadn't eaten here before, we didn't know what the procedure was. We finally got our ice cream, and it was delicious! You get your own refills on tea and soda. The bathrooms have one toilet.
Good grill food. Great ice cream. It has a bustling hometown feel. Order at the counter. Seat yourself.
You ever eat somewhere and the experience from beginning to end was perfect? It's so great that you want to tell others but also don't want to potentially contribute to a massive increase in popularity that you aren't able to get a table? That's Yarborough's.
We were at the start of a road trip from Apex to Louisiana and decided to eat an early dinner so to make good distance before stopping for the night.
I did a Google search for 'burgers near me' and the reviews, pictures, and menu led us to choose Yarborough's in Sanford.
There is very convenient FREE parking directly across the street. We were a little bit in disbelief and checked to make sure there wasn't a pay station hidden somewhere.
We walked in and were immediately greeted by the strangely familiar vibes of a hamburger dive you probably have been to. It reminded me of an old burger spot in my home town in South Louisiana (UL Lafayette alumni - I'm referring to Campus Copies).
They have a huge case of homemade ice cream on your right and a register straight ahead to place your order.
We visited on a Friday around 6pm and there was a reasonable line to order and folks eating at a handful of tables. Not dead, but not overwhelmingly crowded.
Our ordering experience was easy and the helpful staff were so nice and created a welcoming environment. We were given a cute styrofoam cup with a number on it to help with bringing our order to our table.
We both ordered double bacon cheeseburger combos with onion rings, fully intending to save half for the road. That plan immediately went out the window after the first bite.
These burgers are phenomenal. They are obviously handmade and perfectly cooked. The onion rings. THE ONION RINGS. They are beautiful golden brown and the absolute perfect thickness.
I seriously considered breaking my lease and moving my family, but ultimately decided to stick it out and happily make the hour drive on a regular basis.
Highly, highly recommend. If you're driving anywhere near this place - Go!
This place is an absolute nugget! We stumbled onto it while passing through Sanford and were looking for a good grill / diner. We were very impressed! From the cordial friendly way we were greeted when we walked in the door, to the owner bringing us a sample of his peach ice cream that he only makes one month each year - you just couldn't ask for a more welcoming atmosphere. Been in business since the 1920's and making ice cream since the 1930's and I'd say they have it perfected. My wife had a cheeseburger that was hand-pattied and fresh. I saw them cooking bacon and couldn't resist getting a BLT and some fries. Rounded it out with a cup of the peach ice cream for dessert, although they have many more flavors to choose from. Fantastic meal at a great price in a friendly (and busy) atmosphere. We will definitely be back again when traveling through Sanford.
My favourite place to get a Bacon Cheeseburger in Sanford! Great homemade cherry coke and banana splits too! Great crew that's been cooking there for years that will look after you. Crinkle cut fries cooked to perfection! Did I mention that all their ice cream is made on site?
The food is made to order so it may take a lil time to get your order but everything is fresh. I personally love their chicken salad sandwhiches, onion rings, or veggie soup with a grilled cheese sandwhich! You cant forget a good scoop of ice cream!
