I gave this restaurant 4 stars because they add 18% to each check even when it’s only 1 person. I don’t have a problem tipping, just let me tip for the service that I receive. I understand if I’m paying for a party of 4 or more. The food was delicious.
Great interaction with the chef while cooking your food right before you. Seating for up to 8 per grill. Lots of great food to choose from; steak, seafood, chicken, and lots of rice and vegetables. Also, small soup and salad as an appetizer. This was our 2nd family birthday visit.
I've been wanting to go here for quite some time but the location is awkward and if you miss the turn...oh boy. Also it's a small parking lot,so it's filled quickly. Hibachi is my favorite and Benihana is hard to beat in my opinion. Their service, experience and food quality is unmatched,so are the drinks. I did give Yamato a fair shake but think went down hill VERY quickly.
I get there a couple in front of me was told 35 min wait. I spoke as they were leaving they advised of the wait. I went in saw the bar and was determined to try it. So with also being to 35 mins wait, I saw the bar. I asked if they served there, she said no but I could get a drink. I told the couple as they were leaving,so they ended up staying as well. Bar didn't have alot to chose from but I was able to order toki,so I was ok with that. Their sake was also good. Another group comes in get this with 5 ppl and their wait is 15 mins yep 15 mins. We are still waiting, so I'm not sure how a larger party with 5 ppl coming in after us gets a shorter wait. Unless it because they will seat with us. What's funny is even though myself and the other party were there first, the group of 5 never really waited AND they were seated FIRST yep...now that I will never understand. The hostess didn't check to see if we were done with our drinks, I'f we were ready to come in for dinner NOTHING just swooped them off. I see this and walk over, she then says our table is ready. Such bs!!
NO they didn't have a reservation REMEMBER, they did like us,how long is the wait...yep theirs was 15 mins.just walking in. Cool,I let it ride and just continue to enjoy the night. We are ordering and I ask for lemonade and am quickly advised, you don't get free refills. I'm like ok,thanks, I guess. Everyone looked away awkwardly. So I know it wasn't just me. Further, we order, chef does a few dry tricks and jokes. We get the food. It's OK and NO it wasn't worth the wait. I did ask for my meat to be cooked well but the vegetables not. All in all the people at my table were cool. The bathroom was clean and NOPE I won't go back, one and done!!
Visited Yamato last night. Ordered Tokyo meal, $26 and a $10 tall beer. Salmon filet looked large on the grill but was cooked to hell, tough and by the time it reached my plate, 1/4th it's original size. Rice and veggies are hard to mess up. Salmon was a waste of money. When I asked the cook where the rest of the Salmon was, he said it was because they butterfly cut the Salmon. Then mentioned something about "half for you half for me" and needing to "run it back". I agreed he did need to "run it back" but he made no effort to do so or cook off more Salmon.
I was at the end of the table and received less rice and veggies than everyone else.
Very disappointed in this experience.
We've eaten here twice this year. It was very crowded when we went in March but only waited about 20 mins for a table. Then we went in May. It wasn't crowded at all but it seemed like they were short staffed. We waited 45 mins to be seated. Then we waited & waited before they ended up seating 2 other parties at our table. So they literally made us wait for more people to show up before we could get started. No one had come to take our drink order or appetizers. When our sushi finally came, our hibachi had already been ½ way done and was brought out directly before the miso & salad. From start to finish, we were there for 3hrs. . . Sitting w/5 strangers...5 boring strangers - 2 of which appeared to have had an argument prior to coming in b/c they hardly spoke a word to one another, the guy kept shooting dirty looks at other people at the table & the girl just kept looking down w/an embarrassed look on her face. Too much to pay for a meal & such an uncomfortable situation. I wouldn't even want that if I were eating at a fast food place or having a picnic. The food was excellent but the service & company ruined any chance of me returning. (Pics are from March - a better experience & do not represent our visit in May...different group & different chef as well.)
The food and service was excellent. The drinks were outstanding.
The bathrooms could have used some more cleaning, but over all the experience was really nice. Highly recommended.
Food was okay . We were a party of 11 & it was split into 3 different checks . Now they charged 20% per check . Believe me they made about $60 worth of tip for service that wasn’t worth $60 . We had no refills on our drinks or it wasn’t going back and fourth . I asked for my veggies to be separated from onions and zucchini & the man who did our food ignored it . So I had to pick it off my plate . Some of us got smaller portions and some bigger portions . I tried it for the first time & it wasn’t my cup of tea . $80 for 1 adult & 1 child plus 20% was ridiculous. Food is not worth what they charge . It’s to dark in there . I prefer a light atmosphere.
Food is good, service needs work! I came in this evening to pickup my online order, it was my first time there so I didn’t know where to pick up online orders. I asked the hostess and she told me online orders are picked up at the end of the bar. I said ok, and proceeded to the end the bar. There were two gentleman working behind the bar, one guy was working, the other guy was just standing there doing nothing. I got the attention of the guy behind the bar doing nothing and before hearing what I needed he told me to “hold on” and proceeded to stand there leaning against the bar doing nothing. So I just stood there patiently and a female came from the back and asked me what my name was for the order. I gave her the name for the order and she brought my order right out to me. Idk who the young man was behind the bar doing nothing, but he definitely needs a lesson on service, this is unacceptable service for a paying customer.
