Updated 10/5/24. Potatoes were not even hot (or warm) enough to melt the butter. They were also very firm in the middle and hot to touch on the outside. Weird.....all I can figure is maybe they microwave them to cook, but didn't cook them long enough. But the butter just sat there on top of the potato. My flounder was not that great either. (The pic below was NOT from this visit) We ate inside this time.
We arrived 30 minutes before closing and thought they would be done for the day. Instead we had super friendly staff serving up hot delicious food in no time. We always make it a point to stop when we are driving through. Definitely worth it every time.
Great location with access from both North and Southbound US 601 (South State Street ). Open nights Tuesday through Sunday and open for lunch on Sundays, Closed on Mondays. Only seafood restaurant on US 421 between Winston - Salem and North Wilkesboro. They feature Daily specials or order from the menu which has boiled, broiled or fried sea food. I recommend either the fried salt and pepper catfish, fried popcorn shrimp or the ribeye steak.
It has been approximately two years since I have been to this restaurant and at that time it was very good. Today I stopped by and ordered 1 pc flounder and side of hush puppies. $8.95. Little pricey since I didn’t get a plate but I did not complain. BUT I asked for 1 tartar sauce and was told that it would be 45 cents. I was furious who wants the food w/o the tartar sauce! I left …opened the plate and flounder was “slimy “. Hush puppies went in trash as well bc I didn’t want them w/o the tartar! I will not be back ALL OVER SAVING RESTAURANT 45 CENTS! Recommendation go to Harbor Seafood in Hickory!
The food was great. The atmosphere was awesome, and every worker I encountered was so friendly. They took the time to separate our food so it was easy and ready to go. Overall awesome experience and will be back
First visit after years passing by. Rainy late Thursday night but they were there! Flounder special and a catfish. Lots of fish! Great sides. Awesome sweet tea. Great hush pups. Super value. Only way it’s better is to fix, clean, update the restrooms. Whew they need some TLC.
The captain's platter is served with a side, coleslaw, and hush puppies. We order it takeout with an extra baked sweet potato as dinner for 2. The seafood is good, fried shrimp are my favorite. The tartar sauce tastes like it is homemade, delicious!
A typical "lots of fried seafood" type place, but I did get boiled jumbo shrimp and it was great, so there are a few boiled menu items rather than fried. No bacon for the baked potato to offer, but the food was still good.
