Best WLM Reviews

First time stopping in. It is SO cute and pleasant inside. The staff is super kind and helpful. And they just wanna feed you good food, so they let me make a few modifications which I really really appreciated. I got some hot tea and they offer black and some herbals. It’s loose leaf so I asked if I could combine the rose and black teas and the cashier was super friendly about it. I also got the chicken shwarma plate and asked if I could have baba ganoush instead of hummus and she let me do that and their baba is SOOO good. It tastes so fresh and Smokey.
Friend got their baklava and I think it’s some of the best I have ever had (usually it’s too sweet for me. Even when I was in Türkiye… I think I like this baklava more!
I came in at 11:45 on a Friday and was one of the only people. Started filling up by 12:30.m but there was still ample seating for folks meandering in. Seems like a local fave.
Enjoyed this spot and will definitely be back for more.
Hopped into this restaurant with friends for dinner. The decor is amazing, and has a nice elegant atmosphere. The food we ordered were pita, lentil soup, hummus, lamb nachos, chicken shawarma plate, falafel pita wrap, lemon chicken plate, and chicken kabob plate. Overall the food had minimal flavor, the pita bread was not that great. Had tried multiple different Lebanese restaurants and I strongly feel this fell short.
Pretty solid! I'd definitely come back if I happened to be in the area, but I wouldn't drive out to grab it.
❤️Cabbage salad ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Chicken meal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
- loved what it included
- loved the potatoes
- a safe and healthy dish to order
Greek salad ⭐⭐⭐
- but also not much they could do for it, it was just as expected
Pita bread ⭐⭐✨
- ok, not really toasted or warm
- didn't taste fresh, wouldn't pay for extra, would only eat if part of meal l
Ordered lemon chicken meal and it was so good. All components were perfect. Chicken was soft but flavorful. The cabagge salad deserves special mention. We had the perfect sitting position. The atmosphere was great.
Food is made with an extreme amount of love. Great restaurant. Has been in the neighborhood for longer from since before the neighborhood was a destination. Great people, lovely food.
Very delicious food we had a lamb wrap & chicken wrap shawarma. They are a slow a little bit. They took 15 minutes to make it
Very clean place.
Simple decoration.
Slow service.
The food doesn’t meet the Lebanese standards (The Shawarma, Falafel and hummus were tasteless)
There is not an Arabic person in the kitchen staff.
And the “Fairuz” songs are too much, which make the place depressing more than it already is.
It has been a few years since the last time I was at Ya Hala and I would say only positive things about the improvements/changes to the restaurant. The atmosphere, decor, and food were delightful and very delicious! But, the cherry on top was the exceptional staff - they were so kind, helpful, and attentive. I highly recommend this Portland mainstay and applaud them for adapting with the recent changing food scene and it's present challenges. 10/10!
