Had bottle service for last night 3/30/2024 was completely disrespected by THE BOUNCERS at the door! They said we had on the wrong shoes which was ok. They have a no gym shoe policy for women not men! I had on thigh high boots and THE BOUNCER said NO FLAT BOOTS….HUH!!!! It was 4 of us. One had on gym shoes and the other 3 had on thigh high boots. So this pretty much eliminated our whole crew !As we were still standing to the side The BOUNCERS started singing WE NOT FROM 63rd! Implying me and my friends looked ghetto! The bouncers are black as well as us! I don’t know if you can say it is racism! Don’t know if management told them to not let “ghetto looking women”in! I drive buses for CTA! I was out trying to enjoy my friends birthday! I have never felt more humiliated in my life! That was my first and last time visiting this “Bar”! We left and went to another establishment and purchased bottles! Never again!!!!!!
Tried to come here to celebrate my cousins birthday, and was turned away because i was wearing shorts, mind you they were dress shorts. It was 80 degrees in Chicago. So we step out of line, and we notice that they’re letting so many people in with shorts so we get back in line. Then we get to the front and I’m being rejected again. Now all of a sudden, they’re saying they don’t allow white 1s. So i step out of line and look at everybody’s shoes and there’s a few folks that have all white 1s on and they let them in, so i start asking why is it that they all can go in no problem, but for me, it’s a problem? He proceeds to tell me that they want the women in heels and dresses/skirts. Again, there were women in gym shoes and shorts allowed in also.I am a masculine gay woman, i do not wear heels, nor do i wear dress or skirts. He was just talking about my group and i to the people waiting to get in the whole time. Smh… bad for business! Trash ass bar bro
Do not go here to be honest I was denied entry because of my tattoo on my face , I have been here many times, and spend A lot of money each time , it was one of my friends and I favorite places to go for a night out. I will never ever return and I will urge others to do the same . Security is aggressive with two polite kind women. How can i not get into a bar but I am a healthcare professional. Make it make sense ???? DISCRIMINATORY, RUDE , CONDESCENDING MEN in front are gonna ruin your business .
Bartender refused to give receipt after I brought drinks. Paid with a debit card and she didn't let me sign or tip. Makes me think she did it herself. Bouncers were rude. Overpriced and boring.
*WARNING BLACK PEOPLE DO NOT GO HERE* Really want to give this place negative reviews. Tried to get in with my boyfriend, he had a baseball jersey on and the bouncer said no jerseys. Then he took it off and I put it in my purse. He then said we can’t come in. I asked the bouncer his name and then he said he was the manager. Clearly that’s a lie. He was so disrespectful. He was a big black man with a beard. Very condescending and on a power trip. So crazy because they turned down me and my friends and we have some pretty influential jobs in the city. Could have been an opportunity for Y-Bar to make some POSITIVE press with the black professionals of Chicago. They clearly do not respect black people even if the employees are black themselves. Don’t waste your time here. Chicago is too big and has too many great places to waste your money here.
I recently had a birthday celebration there on May 11. I reserved a month in advance. First if I reserved my section why do everyone have to walk in at the same time if more than majority of my people were there?.If your people not with you walking in then they have to pay a cover charge. The cover charge isn’t the same for everyone. I have people that wasn’t able to get into my section because they “Weren’t letting anymore people in” after they let a bunch of people in there. The bouncer rude and have no manners. When reserving the section they didn’t tell me about a 200$ gratuity fee which isn’t an issue but this should have been told in advance. I will not be visiting this establishment again. Also, they upcharge on drinks and it’s absurd. They don’t take Apple Pay or Zelle or anything.
We booked a table here with Alissa and had a blast! Apparently Saturday’s are more of an R&B type of vibe, but all the jams the DJ played were on point! It’s a fun spot to hit up with the girls to sing & dance all night. Staff was super helpful & accommodating, bottle girls were fireee, and the bouncers were comedians from the moment we walked up to the front door. Overall, digging the new “grown & sexy” vibe & will be visiting again!
This place has some extremely rude and condescending staff. Before even walking near the line to enter, I was told I had to throw away my drink by security because i couldn’t finish it in front of the property. Because I was not finished and wanted to follow instructions, I walked up the street to finish it, away from the property and in front of a different place that was closed. When I walked back, a different man standing near the curb with no security shirt or any apparent affiliation to the bar told me I wasn’t allowed entrance. He said I was disrespectful for not throwing away the can immediately and lied about what the actual security officer told me. It makes no sense that I i would walk up the street if I was trying to disregard what I was told. My friend and I tried to clarify the situation and the information I was given by security, but clearly on a power trip at this point, he began ignoring us entirely. The actual security guards were fine with me coming in and one even asked for my ID to try to let me in. When my friend asked the original man I talked to if he felt disrespectful by me and he said no. This seems to be primarily an issue with this individual and I hope he is held accountable for his irrational and unprofessional behavior.
