Highly recommend Kristina for any hair type, especially curly/coarse hair. Like so many curly girls, I have major trust issues with stylists. But, from the moment I was in her chair, I knew I was in good hands. Kristina listens to what her clients want and delivers!!
I had my first appointment here for a haircut last week. The facility is very clean and welcoming. The staff are all incredibly kind. Aaron is a top notch barber and very personable. I have known him for several years and would recommend him to anyone!
Mad props to Kristina! The work she did to transform my pandemic hair into gorgeous hair was astonishing! I didn’t believe anyone could do what she did.
The atmosphere at the salon was great and my entire experience was spot on.
When I left the salon, I felt like a million dollars! I will definitely be back and will certainly make an appointment with Kristina when I am in Chicago again!
As a side note: They also have a barbershop and one of the barbers there had a fantastic beard! My husband is always looking for a barbershop with someone who specializes in beards and I’m definitely planning to get him in for a trim at this salon!
I can't say enough positive things about XEX, and more specifically, Victoria. I started going to Victoria about six years ago and now will not let anyone else near my hair! It's so rare to find a stylist who is exceptional in both color AND cuts, but Victoria is. She's extremely consistent and I love my hair every single time. I also recently had her do my wedding hair and she NAILED it! She and Jessica did the whole bridal party's hair and everyone looked absolutely stunning. I highly highly recommend XEX and Victoria!
I cannot say enough good things about the service I received and my experience at XEX! I recently moved to the city and was looking for somewhere to touch up my balayage as it’s been difficult to make it back to my previous stylist. I found XEX and was initially very nervous due to previously negative salon experiences. Kristina did an amazing job on my hair and was incredibly sweet and accommodating. It looks even better than I was expecting. I’m so happy I found a new salon and stylist that I can trust with my hair!
After a lifetime of nail biting, I found Ilisa at XEX Salon through a Groupon deal. She’s helping me grow out my nails for my upcoming wedding. I have never had someone take such incredible care and attention to detail when doing my nails. The last pic here with my nails unpainted was the longest they had been in a life time. Look at them now! Some days I still can’t believe these are my own nails. And the designs and colors we come up with together are so fun, I get compliments all the time.
I have received two haircuts at XEX. I enjoyed my first appointment with Victoria. We started with a consultation and Victoria made sure that she understood what I wanted before the haircut and that I understood everything she was doing during the haircut. She asked questions and gave me to opportunity to provide feedback and get what I wanted from the appointment. Victoria also provided advice on how to style my hair. This appointment exceeded my expectations and I decided to return to XEX for another haircut.
My second appointment was with TJ. I started by showing him a reference picture and he told me that he could do "the same haircut but better", offering no advice for me or insight into what he planned to do during the haircut. I had assumed during our "consultation" that he wouldn't deviate from the reference photo, however, TJ completely ignored both my reference picture and my request to not cut my hair too short. Not only that, but the haircut also looked unprofessional. I left with uneven bangs and parts of my hair were not blended. I would have liked to have seen TJ's work beforehand or been told about his experience because I'm sure that he is not used to cutting certain hair styles and types.
Part of this experience was my fault as I did not specify how much I wanted cut off, despite TJ not asking and the picture clearly showing a longer hairstyle than what I received.
The prices are reasonable given the location, the environment is comfortable, and the staff that I have met are very friendly. XEX is a great salon as long as the right staff is working with you. I hope to return once my hair grows back.
Victoria gave me the most beautiful, layered hair cut and blow out and officially converted me into a lifetime client! So happy to finally have a salon that I love, and it doesn't hurt that my husband loves them as well!
