Best WLM Reviews

We didn’t get off to the best of starts with the hotel. We arrived around 11:00 and requested for our bags to be stored at the reception. It was very busy and took a while to be seen which wasn’t an issue but when we were told we could store them we were instructed to wait by a door across the way and had to wait for someone to go through it at some point. ||So we queued for around 20-25 minutes at the reception desk and then waited by a random door for another 10-15 minutes before we were able to flag someone down to take the bags through the door to be stored. The staff’s attitude was completely fine and they were polite enough just this procedure was not great and personally feel that this 30-40 minute experience completely dampened the first impression of the hotel. It just felt very impersonal and felt responsibility had just been abandoned from minute one.||As stated the hotel was very busy, not really a fault of the hotel but something to be prepared for if you are planning on staying here you will encounter high crowds of people and a lot of noise.||One of the reasons for this would be the hotel’s excellent location. It’s across the road from the Port of San Diego Cruise Ship Terminal and around the corner from Santa Fe Depot train station. ||We paid extra to have a King Bay Side view room and asked as a request for a high floor. Request's aren’t guaranteed which we knew and as it turned out they didn’t as we were put on the first floor, the room was ok pretty standard budget room but the view which we paid for was a let down. With it been the first floor you get basically the same view as on the street so probably not worth paying the extra and not something we would do again. ||In addition on the booking site they inform you you have a balcony or patio but you don’t, well this room didn’t anyway it’s more like a Juliet balcony which essentially, is a railing that is fixed to the external wall of the building in front of the French doors and it doesn't have a surface or deck to walk on it.||All in all it was clean and was close to the train station so was easy to travel in and out of San Diego. I would recommend if you are staying one night and are getting up early for the ferry or train, otherwise I’d advise to stay somewhere a little quieter instead as there are a lot of hotels in the area.||Pro’s|⚪️Across the road from the ferry port and around the corner from the train station. |⚪️5 minutes walk to USS Midway Museum.|⚪️Close by to little Italy area and the bars and restaurants.||Con’s|⚪️Impersonal service |⚪️Crowded and loud |⚪️Budget style rooms for a deluxe price
The staff were kind and helpful but when I asked for complimentary water bottles, was only given two very small ones and told I should purchase my own in the gift shop after that. The hotel is dated but the room was very clean. My main concern was safety. The balcony is connected to neighboring rooms only by a small railing that I could have stepped over very easily. While on the balcony, I could easily see into the two rooms to my left and the two rooms to my right which let me know each of them could do the same. It was difficult to get the sliding door completely shut and locked so once I got it, I never reopened it. And I had to shut my blinds completely to ensure I had privacy. As a female who was traveling alone, the balcony situation and lack of privacy and safety was unsettling.
We’d stayed at other nearby hotels in the past but finally decided to try Wyndham. So glad we did. It’s not the newest hotel, but it’s clean and well kept. From the portico in front across from the bay, to the palm tree lined courtyard with pool, you can’t help but love the nostalgia of this classic hotel. The service from the staff is top notch, and they have multiple options for food and drinks on the hotel grounds; from one of the last remaining Claim Jumpers to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.
This hotel is just a short walk across the street from the cruise terminal in San Diego. --super convenient for us to board our ship. The guest service especially from Ryan Ochs was outstanding.. Overall our experience was fantastic and we will definitely stay again.
This location is fantastic. It’s right on the waterfront and walking distance to Little Italy. There was a long check in line but it moved quickly. (This is a tourist class hotel near the cruise ship terminal) The staff was super helpful and pleasant. The rooms, and the property is a bit worn down, however it’s a cool MCM building that is fun to look at. With the right renovation this place would be perfect. However it’s pretty good right now. We will definitely stay there again.
The location is unmatched, close to anything one needs within walking distance, airport shuttle to hotel available, restaurants in and around the building, cafe in lobby. The entire facility is beautiful and impeccably maintained. We only got to stay (1) night as we needed sleep after a long trip and didn't want our daughter to have to drive 40 miles to pick us up after midnight. The Wyndham Beautyrest by Simmons Hospitality beds are an absolute dream! I lifted the mattress pad and snapped a picture of the label. We look forward to another stay in the city I was raised in but moved north to Cardiff in 1977 and then to Vista in 1987.
Very hospitable staff. Shuttle drivers are very friendly especially Bong and Jorge.|The hotel rooms are a bit outdated, but they are clean. Housekeeping staff always smile when they pass by in the hallways. I remember Josefina.|Food at Claim Jumper is ok, not the best. Parking fee is pricey.|Coffee cart is too small for a large hotel. There are no cheerful decor for Christmas season.|Thank you to manager Ryan Betances for being so accommodating.|My coworker Eduardo also would like to thank Ryan Ochs for being patient with all the questions, the Front Desk had to get Ryan O. from the office to help translate in Spanish for him when I was not around.|The beds are comfortable. We travelled for business but would like to return for leisure and enjoy the Seaview balcony next time as we only got standard rooms due to company travel expense reasons. Thank you for the hospitality and we hope the hotel will remodel soon.
A Perfect Seaside Getaway
This hotel is an absolute gem! Its prime location puts you right in the heart of the action, within easy walking distance of all the major seaport attractions. The rooms were spotless, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We were particularly impressed with the convenient shuttle service to and from the airport, making our travel experience seamless.
If you're looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay during your seaside adventure, this hotel is highly recommended.
