Our third time here and we had a wonderful visit. Unit was clean and spacious and even with an AC issue (capacitor died), they were very responsive and fixed it quickly and communicated well. If you like low country, low key beach life, look no further. The island is enjoyable and very accessible via bike and car. Beaches are not too crowded.
So we came to this condo for relaxing. The entire week, they gutted the units on either side of us. This is the slow time so half of the condos are empty so they could have easily put us somewhere else. In addition, there are not enough grills for the amount of people here. The stove was dirty and there are two sad chairs on the porch. We will not come back to these units.
We arrived late (around 10:30pm) and we were very tired. Girl at front desk was pleasant, but could not give clear directions to get to our unit. She gave us an address to use for our GPS but this took us to a neighborhood, not part of the resort. She then called to say she was provided the incorrect address and gave a different location. This too was not correct and put us at the visitors center rather than the unit we were to stay in. After driving back to the office and 45 mins of searching we finally had the correct information.
Upon arriving in the unit (we had reserved the 3br Presidential) we cut the lights on in the kitchen and it “moved”. I mean to say “roaches” ????????????????went scurrying. My wife said “don’t even put our stuff down, we are not staying here”.
Now we drive back to the front office, this time to tell them we are not staying that the unit had roaches. She actually asked “were they roaches or palmetto bugs?” If you search they are the generally the same thing. Palmetto bugs are a species of roach. I showed her the pictures and she then said “oh I wouldn’t know by looking” so the question was not relevant for multiple reasons. She did ask if she could move is to a different unit, but we were pretty sure if they had not treated this unit the likelihood hood they had treated others was pretty low.
With this we then drove an hour back to Charleston to a hotel for the next 2 nights. It was now 12:45am and this was $500 we had not planned on spending, but we were exhausted both mentally and physically.
When Wyndham called 2 days later, to check the complaint, he basically implied that there was nothing he could do. Because the office had offered us another room and we declined, we were out of the weeks points spent. That they have no control over bugs and there was nothing he could really do. After 20 minutes on the phone with my wife, only making her more upset than she already was about the incident, she handed the phone to me. Now his tone softened and in the end he offered “out is own kindness” to refund 1/2 our spend.
In the end, this cost us not only the points but an additional $1000 in hotels, gas, and food expenditures. Money that these time share places are telling you is being saved by becoming one of their owners.
We would love to visit Edisto at some point again, but it won’t be with Wyndham.

We enjoyed our stay at Wyndham Ocean Ridge! The experience can really depend on your room locations as pools are spread out and beach is a decent drive from some areas. We ended up right on the inlet and loved the location. Resort has activities such as golf, putt putt, among other things.. Great spot if you just want to relax at the pools and beach! But the town has very little to do. I would even consider bringing some meals to cook as there are not many restaurants and most are small which leads to long wait times. Overall enjoyed our stay with Wyndam.
Checked in yesterday but will be checking out tomorrow. 1 bedroom deluxe smells like mildew, has roaches, TV does not work and the master bedroom is tiny. Horrible experience, not coming back.
All depends on where you get your room. We left a day early because all we could see was a road or parking lot after we were told we would have an ocean view.
I love the island but housekeeping stole my daughter’s AirPods. We called immediately after discovering they were left behind. We can track them and see that someone kept them and took them home. Very frustrating.
I want to move to Edisto now. Everything about this place was amazing. From check in to check out no issues at all. Very clean and super friendly staff.
