The computer was down so we had to check in via text. When the desk agent was handed my phone he checked the 5 star rating and then denied it when we called him on it. The lack of cars in the parking lot should have been a clue, but we arrived at midnight and had been traveling since 2am and were exhausted. The lobby looked ok but we quickly discovered they are in the middle of a bad remodel! The elevator area smelled like exhaust. The room was dark and dirty. The bathroom was a nightmare and the undersized toilet seat was only fastened on one side. The new shower head was quickly overshadowed by the shower install. The shower flooded the small closet sized room. The newer electrical outlets were not compatible with AC/DC plugs and we didn’t have a converter. If we hadn’t have been so tired we would’ve left after stepping into the room. The photos we saw on the website are not from this hotel!
Our room was rather nice, clean, and spacious! They’re still renovating, but the room itself was unaffected by this. Didn’t notice a smell of mildew like some other reviews said and I’m a bit paranoid so I double and triple checked the entire room for cleanliness and bugs and everything was perfect. Staff was always very kind and helpful, check in and out were both easy. Breakfast was exactly what I would expect for the price of the room- cereal, eggs, sausage. And the location is so close to Busch Gardens!
Place was nice staff was friendly. Building is still under renovations, our room still had the old carpet, the curtains were stained and the shower leaked, but for the price it met our needs. Would stay here again once renovations are done. One thing I would say is that the sign does not work at night so that would be helpful.
Toilet seat installed crooked. Shower leaked. Toilet got stopped up. ac/Heating unit had tremendous condensation in am (don’t leave anything on it or it will get ruined ) Thoughy it was under construction but then was told the room had been recently renovated. I think they got ripped off !
Beds are hard. The bathroom was not that clean. I wore shoes as the floors seemed filthy. |No cleaning service or fresh towels. |We ended up checking out a day early because I just couldn’t sleep on the bed another night.|The reservation and check in process were quick. |We have stayed at other Wyndham properties and were very pleased. This property needs attention.
Amazing location at a price that can't be beat. Stayed just for one night on my way from NY to NC. I wanted to visit Yorktown and Jamestown without breaking the bank and this hotel did just that. It's right in the middle of the two, taking 15 minutes to get to each location. The bed was comfortable and room was clean. Breakfast was included and pretty standard but there was nothing to complain about. The breakfast staff kept making sure that everything was full and they had a lot of different drink options. Plenty of brochures for people looking for something to do and they had a few different discount offerings on attractions as well. Free parking and lots of it. Overall, nice stay and certainly couldn't beat the value or location.
Fun weekend trip to Busch Gardens and our hotels was within a couple of miles. Very convenient. Room was nice and quiet and breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay again and would recommend this Wyndham Garden hotel to our friends and family.
First room was dingy and felt unclean. Neither the shower nor the sink got hotter than room temperature. We had to move out of the first room at night because water began to leak from the ceiling, forming a bubble in the wall and pooling in the light fixture and on the bathroom floor. The room we got moved to seemed very nice and recently renovated. Water pressure and temperature were good. We had an odd encounter the following morning when someone, who I assume was a staff member, but in no kind of uniform knocked on our door telling us we needed to check out even though we were not scheduled to check out until the following day. Then when we were heading out for the afternoon, I noticed someone had removed the do not disturb plaque from our door handle (it was not on the ground in or out of our room, nor was it anywhere in sight as though someone may have kicked it) and we had a hiccup trying to get a new one. Finally, on our last night (in the "good" room), we saw a mouse running around our room. I will give anyone the benefit of the doubt but this was our second very negative impression of the hotel so I notified the front desk, reminding them I also had an issue with the first room, and checked out early. I requested a refund for the whole stay and was met with a "we will get back to you." I quickly received a one night refund, but considering the disrepair that the entire hotel was in, having to move rooms and still needing to check out early, the only two operational ice machines were disgusting, and an entirely unsatisfying stay, I was hoping for some better compensation.
The second room WAS very nicely redone so hopefully this property can swiftly finish their overhaul and redeem themselves. The front desk staff was helpful, resolving the first room's issue within 20 minutes.
I should have read the reviews and avoided this hotel from the start but I figured a Wyndham Hotel wouldn't have any issues.
