Best WLM Reviews

Excellent staff and breakfast was good better than most places I've stayed. One elevator working was a little challenging during peak times but clean and would recommend the stay to anyone. Little kids next to us were early risers and that happens some times.
Pretty nice hotel but very disappointed in the manager. We paid extra for the suite because we were told that it has a jacuzzi bathtub, but we weren't told that the jucuzzi doesn't work and there is no plug for the tub!! If I had known this I would have gone with the less expensive room with just a shower. The front desk clerk had no answers so I left a writen note to talk to the manager. When I didn't hear from her, I left a message on her voicemail the next day. I also left a "Customer Care Case" with Wyndham. It's been several days and she still has not bothered to contact me. My daughter used to manage several motels and would NEVER have ignored a customer! This manager needs to be fired!
Positive: Nothing Negative: No outside signage. The key did not work so the changed our room. The bed has a huge dip in the center. The whole building smelt of chlorine. The breakfast had only a few selection.
We stayed at this location Sept 20, 2024. We are Wyndham Diamond members (not because of Wyndham stays). One of two elevators worked. The one working elevator closed on you and rather than reopening I had to push it back to open position, after it hit us. The first room, the AC did not work. After the desk agent insisted, it was just replaced and working (84°), she came up and found it indeed did not work. We were assigned another room at the other end of the hall. The TV and DVD player were both on, playing different things. A different desk agent came up, who couldn't figure out how to turn the electronics off, or even disconnect them. We were assigned a third room, on another floor and down a long hall - a suite with two AC units, one of which worked. My husband who has cancer was too tired to go out with friends that evening, after to much moving and stress. The only reason we stopped in Champain was to see these friends. When I returned to the hotel around 12:30 AM, I realized I was without a room key. I waited at the tall reception desk for 5 min, for help - none came. I moved down, in front of the manager's open doorway. When I looked down - there was the desk clerk, sitting out of view. I waited 6 min, before he even looked up and saw me from the corner of his eye. Without hesitation, he gave me a key to the room I requested - never apologizing for his inattentivness or asking for any proof or even my name, before issuing me a key. I could have gone into any room I wanted or gone in the front door and been a mass murderer. The next morning I went to the front desk twice asking to speak with the manager and was told "he was in a meeting", "she was not in yet." I left my name, phone number, and email, requesting contact from manager- never happened. I filed a complaint with Wyndham Customer Service. Finally we were reimbursed half the points we used for our stay. Any other action, I was told by Wyndham, would have to be a civil suit against the hotel. According to Wyndham Customer Service 99.9% of hotels under the Wyndham chain are privately owned. In my opinion, it's all about big business. "Give the customer only half their points back, so both the customer and the hotel suffer equally, from a points perspective." This was our second unacceptable experience within the Wyndham chain, in 2 consecutive days. Based on our experience we will not be staying at Wyndham properties in the future. Customer BE WARE
The hotel is strange, room was fine but 2 lights did not work. Bathroom had the ceiling falling in and my daughter was scared to go to the bathroom alone as she thought something was going to come through the ceiling. Walls were bumpy and strange. We couldn't find the stairs and only 1 elevator was working. Kids were screaming in the pool while we ate breakfast in the lobby. Price is way to high!
Restaraunt and bar both closed. Says open on website. Rooms are dirty. Rooms have a lot of water damage. The bathroom remodel must have been done by a 5 yr old. Rooms stink. Would be a nice place with a lil remodeling and maybe the amenities they claim to have
WARNING: This is long.
We were on a road trip and I booked our stay here just a couple of hours before arriving. We booked via Expedia, and that process was fine. But then later we got an email from the hotel to check in online and that's when I learned that the hotel was dealing with renovations. When we got to the hotel, we went into the lobby and everything looked fine. But then we went upstairs to our room and from the moment we were in the hallway we knew things might be not so great. Horrible textured walls painted blood red (probably going to be removed as part of the renovation). We got into our room and the first thing I noticed was the peeling wallpaper right inside the door. The floors were laminated or vinyl "wood" but it turned out they were FILTHY (when I took a shower, there was so much black in the water and I had been wearing socks and shoes all day so the dirt only came from the floor). The first bed was so saggy in the middle that my husband and I felt like were going to cave in (my son was on the other bed). The closet was not finished - the wood framing was left unpainted, the bifold door was not yet painted, and the kicker was they put the handle on the wrong side of the door.
And then there was the bathroom. This was the room that clearly had been started as it had a new toilet (but the seat wouldn't stay up). The shower was the narrowest shower I've ever been in, but they had a tub spout (but no tub) and the faucet handle was so low. The rain showerhead had low pressure plus it was pretty low and we're all only 5'7" to 5'9" tall. There is nowhere to put shampoo or soap in the shower. The vanity was newly installed but you could see all the new plumbing underneath. The walls and ceiling had not been worked on yet as they had damage (the wall had a hole in it). The light fixture was way too dark for a bathroom. And the door was still banged up.
It's clear that Wyndham recently acquired this hotel from Radisson (there were still Radisson labeled items in the room) and I know they are trying to update but they really shouldn't be renting out rooms that are in the middle of being redone. My husband is a contractor and would be embarrassed to present his work in that state.
The two positives about our stay was the very friendly front desk staff and the full breakfast. Other than that, if we were staying more than one night, I would have immediately requested a refund and gone somewhere else.
Our room was beautiful and very clean. Loved our stay. The staff very friendly and helpful with us. Check in and checkout was easy and guick We'll be sure to tell our friends and family that it's the the best place to stay when they're in the Champaign area.
