First the people there are very very nice. Second they don’t tell you there is construction and access to some places is restricted. The hot tub wasn’t even turned on and with construction they had 1 table outside available. So enjoying that expensive cocktail outside in the nice weather is out. Then they shut the water off with no warning. They use the cheapest fridges the first didn’t work at the next barely cooled at all. The tub is so skinny my shoulders don’t even fit. If it wasn’t for the people there I’d say just stay at the days inn. Breakfast is not included and will cost you 12 dollars just for your information.
Nice clean rooms with balcony. Very nice and friendly stuff. Yes, there is some construction going on but it didn’t bother us at all. Didn’t hear any noise and everything was working to have great experience such as swimming pool and hot tub. Location is nice to have a walk to pear district or to main river walk with restaurants. If I ever come back I’ll choose this hotel again.
A Disappointing and Chaotic Stay
I recently stayed at the Wyndham Garden Inn in San Antonio, Texas, expecting a relaxing experience with promised amenities such as a pool and balcony access. Unfortunately, my stay was marked by an overwhelming series of disappointments and frustrations. Upon arrival, I discovered the hotel was undergoing extensive renovations—a critical piece of information that was not disclosed when I booked my room.
Several amenities, including the pool, were closed. This was particularly upsetting, as the pool was the primary reason I chose this hotel. The front desk had not arranged any alternative access to amenities at nearby hotels, despite knowing that guests were booking rooms under false assumptions. This lack of transparency and preparation speaks volumes about the disregard for guest comfort and expectations.
The renovation conditions were nothing short of chaotic. The lobby had an overpowering smell of urine that was impossible to ignore, setting a dismal tone upon entering. Construction workers were constantly present inside and outside the hotel. Dust and grime filled the air, causing significant respiratory irritation. The noise was unrelenting, making it impossible to rest or work during the day. The environment was stressful and uncomfortable, with parts of the hotel appearing more like a construction zone than a welcoming hospitality space.
Wyndham Garden Inn’s failure to inform guests about the renovations, as well as their lack of effort in providing alternative solutions, is completely unacceptable. If you’re looking for a relaxing stay in San Antonio, I strongly advise avoiding this hotel until the renovations are completed. The noise, dirt, lack of amenities, and complete disregard for guest experience make this hotel a poor choice until significant improvements are made.
We went for a nearby wedding and truly enjoyed this hotel. Fantastic location to The Pearl and more. Clean rooms, nice employees, access to ice! Great water device (?) in lobby offering 4 kinds of filtered water!
Great room and service, The staff takes pride in their work and it shows. Very Professional Friendly and Accommodating! Will Definitely stay ago!! The Lobby so open and welcoming and it Smells good in all the common areas
The hotel location is right on the river walk.
The staff were all very professional, friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to Robert at the front desk, who was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and kindhearted. He went beyond the call of duty by not only giving us suggestions of places to visit, but also offered us his personal mosquito repellent, after we forgot to bring ours, to help keep the mosquitoes off of us, as we walked along the beautiful river walk. The hotel is under construction renovations and so is limited to what it can offer to their guests as far as amenities go, but the location is very convenient and the rooms were nice and spacious. Their prices were very reasonable for the location. I would definitely stay here again and look forward to visiting them once the renovations are completed.
If I could give this a 0 I would. It was hard to find where to park. We got in our ac barely worked. There were weird stains on the floor. The pillows were lumpy and there was no shampoo. All of those I can ignore. Once it got later that is where all the problems started to set in. Couldn't find parking when we returned from dinner, the elevator was broke on and off the office manager didn't know what to do for parking, people where giving the code to the parking lot to friends, and people were taking up more than one parking spot. When we got ready to leave we were told the elevators were broken again and we had to carry all our luggage down stairs. The stairs were covered in plastic and tape. It was highly dangerous to be using those stairs. Also if you were handicap there was no way down for you at all. I almost fell going down them because of all the construction going on with the stairs. We also couldn't turn off the headrest light. When we asked the manager they said they didn't know. The phone in the room didn't work either. They comped half of the room and the parking but still it was a horrible time. Ended up leaving and going to another hotel the next night. If you can avoid this place at all costs!
Amazing hotel! My hubby and I stayed here for 2 nights Nov 11-13th. Josh the front desk clerk checked us in and he was pleasant! His service was quick and efficient which goes a long way!
You can tell this hotel has been freshly renovated with the guest in mind. Our room was clean and spacious. The king bed was comfortable as well as the pillows. The curtains were clean and there were no stains on them. The carpet and tile floor were clean and though I don't walk around any hotel with my shoes off, I could have here. The mini fridge is tucked away in a cabinet. There is no microwave in the room but that's not a deal breaker for me.
The bathroom gave a spa feel and did not disappoint. There were 2 showerheads one smaller detachable and the other huge but stationary. The black finishings in the bathroom added a nice touch. The bathroom has a nice sliding door.
Side joke* around 6 am I heard something that sounded like knocking on the door. I was like I know like crazy that's not housekeeping knocking at this time. As I got out of bed and proceeded to walk towards the door, my hubby was sliding the door open to walk out of the restroom. As he opened the door, I heard knocking coming from the door sliding open.
There is a restaurant on the first floor but we didn't eat there so can't speak for it.
The construction crew is still working on the first floor but they wrapped everything up by 6 pm. Even before 6 pm we couldn't hear anything from our room.
There is plenty of parking but it does cost $20 per night which is very cheap for the Riverwalk area. There is also access to the Riverwalk to the right and left of the front entrance.
To the owner/management****You and your design team did an amazing job! Please make sure you have workers who care enough about your investment as you do. I pray you pay them well so they feel appreciated and will continue the upkeep of this hotel.
