Roxie was fantastic upon check-in. We encountered some major issues with a prior reservation and needed a place to stay in a pinch. Not only did she make us feel at home upon arrival, but upgraded us to ocean view at no extra charge and even gave us free parking. It was a great hotel, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Come check it out!
I just made a booking on the phone at the property and spoke to by Ms Yokelye who was very professional and helpful. She was very patient and assisted me in reserving a family suite for next week. She made sure the reservation went through and ensured that the family suite was available and assigned. I really appreciate her help and thoughtfulness in the process.
I went to meet a friend and staff was friendly and greeted me as I walked through the door. It would've been nice to have a vending machine of some sort as the store inside closes during the night and doesn't open til 7am. They did have a free water station that helped a little. I would go back again but will be prepared with my own snacks for the wee hours of the night. ???? the double beds are queen beds, btw. Well the room I had. The balcony was unexpected and a decent size.
I would give 0 stars if it allowed. This hotel was worse than a motel. This is not a resort. This is an extremely dirty place that somehow is allowed to operate as a hotel. First thing we see when we get to our room is a roach! Then there were food crumbs all over the floors. There were also dirty mud stains on the bathroom floor. The bed had stains on every single sheet, the comforter, and pillow cases. The walls had dry food hanging off them. It was so unsanitary. We arrived at 6:30am thankfully, so we only were stuck there for 4/5hrs before checking out. It was so bad we had to use our own bedding from our camp gear as we didn’t want to touch any of their extremely dirty linen. Bath tub had mold. It’s just an extremely dirty place and I wouldn’t risk my health or safety if I were you. As a medical provider who has been in charge of hospital units and understands how unsanitary practices contributes to poor health, I am amazed this ‘hotel’ is allowed to operate and charge what they charge. I spoke to the manager when checking out and showed pictures, and her reply was absolutely unacceptable and proved that they do not care about sanitation and the health of their customers. She apologized for food being on the walls and mud stains on the floor. However, she expressed she cannot throw out every bed linen just because it has stains on it and that it’s a beach resort so the linen will have stains. I was shocked she admitted that, because somehow most other hotels have found ways to nit gave stains on linen while this one basically says get over it. She didn’t offer to refund the 4-5hr stay or even do a partial refund. I’ll be contacting the hotel company (Wyndham) to ensure they know how this ‘hotel’ is operating and impacting their brand. I attached pictures to show some of the examples, I would have recorded the discussion and attached that too, but I didn’t think about it at the time. Just to add, staff wise, the guy who checked us in was very kind.
This Hotel is the old Holiday Inn which was in complete shambles just a couple short years ago. Under this new ownership I have seen improvement each time I visit which is about 3 to 5 times a year. Although I agree maintenence could be improved imencly, and repairs in rooms do not apear to be very skillfully done, The painter is an epic fail with paint splashed on furniture and floor, but they are working on it. It still has much to repair, but I must say it's coming along quite well in spite of those things. So if you can respect the fact that a building this big takes quite some time to restore, and don't mind some flaws, and nessessary thriftyness, then you will love the stay here. The day before we were to arrive I realized that I messed up my reservation and had to call the Hotel. I spoke to Roxanne and she was my guardian angel of the day, she got us the rate I thought I already had, the room I wanted and she had me all set when I arrived. Thanks Roxanne.||It's right on the beach so you can't beat the location. Right across the street from the hotel you can rent a golf cart and explore the island. From the time you check in you are welcomed with a smile and a friendly face. We got in after midnight we were greeted by Edward with a smile, and it took no time at all for him to remember us with a story from the last visit and to hand us the keys to our room and give us two goodie bags, one for each of us.||We were there for my birthday I checked in when I was 62 and checked out at 63! Not one Hotel employee, I saw on my birthday failed to say Happy birthday to me. Even the maid I passed in the hall told me happy birthday, they helped to make my day amazing. The ladies at the desk always make me smile, Isabella is sweet and professional always ready to help. Then there's Iliana she has helped me with anything I have asked her for, and always greets you with a twinkly eyed smile, and the most beautiful nails you've ever seen. I have always had great dealings with all the staff and consider them as friends from the moment we meet.||There's a really nice outdoor bar by the pool and beach, my husband and I decided to visit it on our last night on the island. What an amazing night it turned out to be. Dylan was our bartender and he was such a likeable, loveable guy that I've added him to my "chosens", my chosen are grandchildren not of our blood, but of our heart.||We enjoyed so much of this trip we extended it an extra night, and we're able to keep the same room for the extra night.||So with all that said, "big thanks to all our peeps at Wyndham, Island Resort, Padre Island Texas.
The hotel is not expensive and the accommodations are reflected in the price. I was ok with this being that we spend very little time inside the hotel when we are at the beach. The beds are comfortable and the linens sufficient. My issue with the hotel and booking.com is that we reserved a room that was a beachfront suite. The morning of, the hotel called and said they were overbooked. We ended up in a room that was not a suite nor beachfront. The Wyndham would not take responsibility for the mistake not offer a discount of any significance. Instead, the blamed booking.com. When I called booking.com, the blamed the hotel. We ended up in a room very different from what I reserved and we were not compensated in anyway that mattered. I felt a bit bamboozled by both companies but was not in a position to cancel the room as it was a holiday weekend and we were already on our way there. I question the integrity of both organizations and will not use either one again.
We were happy with our stay. Beds were comfortable, staff as helpful and kind. Rooms were clean enough but floors could have used some attention, as it was apparent a dog had stayed previously. The pool and bar was great, hot tub was not but we booked for location and had realistic expectations, so still enjoyed our time very much. Room key stopped working multiple times during stay but otherwise 9/10.
My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary at the Wyndham Resort and loved it.
Edward was very attentive and made sure everything was to our liking for our stay. He apologized for the fact that the restaurant was closed and suggested some places we could go to.
We will definitely be coming back and referring friends
