My husband had a total hip replacement done in August. Everything was wonderful staff on the third floor was great. His surgeon is great. He just had his second hip replacement done the staff on the third floor, particularly the PT who visited him the night of his surgery and the OT gal that visited him the day of discharge was condescending, snd rude. I have been a nurse and RN for 40+ years and currently am a chief nursing officer for a huge healthcare organization for them to write in my husband‘s medical record that I was agitated and distracted During their sessions with my husband. It is because of their actions and how they treated me as a spouse of almost 40 years. They treated me as if I was uneducated and not worthy to add input to my husband’s care. My husband is hard of hearing, and I was telling the therapist that she need to talk directly at him in his right ear so he could hear she took offense to that . My husband surgeon is great. This should have no reflection on him at all! I did not have high regards for Princeton community Hospital prior to my husband’s surgery in August. I was quite impressed and I even said I’m glad WVU bought Princeton community Hospital since I was impressed with the care that my husband was provided.Well, it certainly didn’t last long. I’m glad he’s home and doing well.
Charge nurse on the third floor named Debbie accused me of hurting my grandmother and effectively kicked me out. She stated that her drug induced crying was an indication of pain. I asked her how long she knew my grandmother and she said “I have been a nurse for 40 years”. Power tripping on a Sunday night. A nurse who has worked 40 years is not a charge nurse on a third floor for weekend differential. This is not a good nurse and her staff looked intimidated by her and did not speak up in my defense though they knew the truth. They also did not acknowledge the fact that 60 hours into her care they did not have a list of her medication she takes on a regular basis though four different family members had been in and out and speaking with the nurses. What kind of care does not find out medical history? Prescription medications taken? These people are inept and ignorant to their own faults.
I wouldn’t take a stray dog to this hospital.
We were on our way back from vacation, heading home to Ohio, my son ended up at WVU Princeton Community Hospital for an appendectomy. From start to finish, nothing but a fantastic experience! The staff on the third floor were absolutely AMAZING! From the doctor (Mullins), anesthesiologist, nurses, transporters, aides, those that came in to clean….I AM SPEECHLESS! In all honesty, I wish they could transport this hospital to Ohio!!! The friendliest and most knowledgeable group of people I have ever met in ANY hospital we have been to…hands down, these people deserve the best praise! I want to thank all of them for taking care of us and most importantly, my son. Thank you for taking care of all of us!!! You will all be remembered highly!
My husband was admitted through the ER. The emergency room experience was one of the best I have ever seen. Many of the employees we met had been there 20+ years and were good at their jobs. Great doctors in the ER and on the floor.
So very recent events has happened to me at this hospital I’m not a big review person but I had to speak my mind on this and maybe this will help the next person looking around for a good hospital ????
This hospital is horrible! I had an episode where I almost passed out in my bathroom floor. Ambulance ???? was called and naturally they took me to the closest hospital ???? that’s good right? Not in this situation… unfortunately I was administered potassium without it being diluted , the pain behind this was inhuman. I’ve been having medical problems for over 3 months so I’ve had this done 2 or .3 times at other hospitals never went through this type of pain , while in my pain and sadly saying (crying) telling the nurse to stop it she looked at me and said I just need a new Iv !!! I told her to exit my room. She did . The charge nurse was a angel though she said nothing was wrong with my iv and she’s going to flush it and try again with a mixture of fluid and potassium and it worked and it was like the other treatments… long story short after that, the charge nurse went on home after shift change
But the others stayed back including the one I told to get out! When I say others I guess they all good buddies off and on work
About 30 minutes later they continue to talk about how I was in the wrong they talked about other patient’s symptoms and problems out in the open ?! Now to paint u a better picture I was directly beside the nurses station !! So u about imagine they wanted me to hear them like it was my fault I got upset at the particular nurse?! The other nurse I got for the remaining time I spent was very very rude also I guess like I said all of them are friends except for a few …. Last thing she said to me was since you’re getting transferred to another hospital u want them to give you these medicines or me? Lol wooooowww….. ok …. RECAP: stay away from Princeton community if you possibly can! Worst experience of my life and the most inhumane place a person can be at!!! I’ve seen other people talk about this place and I’m in shock ⚡️ with all that’s happened to me and others! Honestly if the community got together on this we need to make a change for the better health and patient’s safety and the billing and the respect we all deserve ! Let’s go Mercer county let’s make that change!!!!
making a disabled person suffer in pain for over 4 hours and counting, his mychart shows 4 kidney stones, the largest 9mm and the smallest 7... they are the most uncaring, unsympothetic, unprofessional group of medical professionals I met my entire, retired life including baltimor city
My grandfather was just dropped off at our house on HOSPICE to my children because nobody from PCH cared to call and let me know that he was being discharged this afternoon so that we were ready. When he came into the hospital, he was put on a ventilator when we had clearly expressed his wishes prior to this. I’m utterly appalled by the lack of care and the callused treatment my grandfather has received during such a delicate time. Words cannot express the pain we are feeling as a family and then this on top of it is horrible.
The CCU staff was wonderful despite the rest of the experience we had.
The front desk staff was also very pleasant and helpful.
Whomever is answering the phones when you call the main line should work on their customer service. They just transfer you without saying a word and are pretty dry. Sound unhappy to be there.
My husband went to bluefield Er for yellow pus running out of his head. The doctor, dr.elder, kept asking what we thought it was and squeezing it out of his head. Kept asking if he got bit by something. Not that we know of that's why we were there for the doctor to find out what it was then got to looking at his chart online and they put in chart he kept asking for antibiotic pills. My husband has never asked for medication. He didn't even want to go but I made him because I didn't want something bad to happen but obviously there was no point cause the hospitals around here don't care about the patients anymore.
