Best WLM Reviews
For those of you who love burgers and hotdogs with a new twist, look no further. Our son I recommend this restaurant and what a good suggestion this was. Even though it was his first time, when we meet in San Francisco or vicinity towns, we always like to try new places. This restaurant is designed with simplicity and focus on amazing new ingredients on your favorite dishes. Each dish is bursting with flavors. The best freshly made sauerkraut you’ve ever had. I’m not a beer drinker, but for those of you who like to have options galore, this is where you’ll find one of the largest selection of beers on tap. This spacious high ceiling restaurant with simple tables and benches, is another great place for you to bring your family and friends. I highly recommend this restaurant. We tried the spicy Italian sausage sandwich with the double fried potatoes, quesadilla (a little salty), spicy chicken nuggets (were absolutely delicious), and other items on their menu. Very clean restaurant and friendly staff. We will definitely revisit this great restaurant.
It's all self-serve / contactless dining - sit at a long table, order online with a QR code, and the staff will bring you your dish.
I had one of the hot dogs and it was good! I want to try the other ones now.
For some reason my elderly parents didn't like eating here, but they get turned off by anything that isn't a classical dining experience so I'm not surprised.
We tried out the different dining restaurant in town even though it’s been here for years. First and foremost, pretty much almost contactless diner. Just almost because they will bring your food and drinks to your table and ask which food belongs to whom. Besides that, you’ll seat yourself in any available tables, scan QR code to order & pay beforehand. After you have your meals and want to take home leftovers, you take the takeout boxes and bags put aside for guests yourself, too. Oh, and they won’t bring you plates. You come to the counter & ask for the extra plates in case you wanna share food among your groups.
The food was good and all. I’m not familiar with this cuisine yet, but I would say it’s quite delicious. The cocktail I ordered was quite strong compared to other cocktails I had previously.
It’s an open diner, so everyone can be as loud as they could and nobody will judge. If you love extremely lively atmosphere, this is your place.
My friend and I had 2 different dogs. I had the more traditional one and absolutely loved it. It was tender and juicy. And it just tasted amazing. I took I bite of my friends and found it unremarkable. The sides also seemed to be lackluster. I’m giving them 4 starts purely cause the classic bratwurst that I had was soooooo good. They definitely can step up their game on the rest of the menu
Wursthall isn’t my cup of tea, but we came here for a work function. It was nice each person can place their own order. The service is pretty consistent here.
The deviled eggs are really good; if we come here again I’ll just order the eggs.
The fried chicken was OK.
The brownie dessert is just OK. I don’t recommend getting it.
Food was tasty, unique, and balanced. The bratwurst was not the super salty experience you might expect, and each was topped in a way to cut through the fattiness of the meat. The buns are these really airy split top buns like you get with lobster rolls which were delightful. The sides we got (potato salad and chickpea salad) also stood out, both for flavor and again to provide balance to the meal with acid and a cooling temperature.
The vibes were great, very family friendly with the kids table in the back, tons of seating, really laid back and unpretentious atmosphere.
The only reason for non five star was that it was really hard to get our waiter's attention to get the waters we ordered (they never came) or a togo box. This was during an unbusy lunch time, there were maybe 3 other seated tables in the restaurant. The table next to us had a very attentive waiter though, so it probably just depends on who you get!
Overall great experience, will definitely be back to try some other things on the menu.
One of our favorite places in downtown San Mateo. Given how unique their menu is for this specific part of the Bay Area, they are reasonably priced. Almost all their chicken sandwiches and dishes are fulfilling and very tasty. Their sides and salads are unique.. we go there twice a month and the grownups and kids love it..
Came here twice and the food did not disappoint either time. The spaetzle was rich and decadent, though I'd maybe recommend a three+ person team to take on that appetizer instead of two because of how rich it is. The currywurst was generously seasoned with curry, and the thrice fried potatoes were crispy and piping hot, absolutely amazing both on their own and in the currywurst sauce. Would also recommend the porchetta (the fried shallots on top were a great addition) and the chorizo verde gets a cumin fan's recommendation for the cumin seasoning. The pretzel was a bit too dense and dry for my liking, but was a good try!
