Wonderful hotel for a hiking vacation with the family. The location is amazing in that you are very close to the trails in the morning. Instead of a long drive in on winding roads you can enjoy coffee and a breakfast buffet! The whole family loved our stay. We especially liked the adjacent room (which has a sliding door) to our superior room. After the kids went to sleep, the wife and I could hang out and didn’t have to go to bed early or hang out in the bathroom. The Wuksachi lodge is highly recommended!
The location of this lodge cannot be beat - it's absolutely spectacular. That being said, the rooms are old, dated and dark, but clean and comfortable. The rooms are in separate buildings with no elevators and you have walk your luggage UP from the parking lots. I noticed a lot of older people had issues navigating these things. The main lodge is newer and nice, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It's very dark at night so you needs lights to get to the lodge for dinner if you come later in the year like we did. The food was surprisingly good and there was a nice variety.
We had a wonderful stay at Wuksachi Lodge! The location is absolutely beautiful, with rustic rooms that perfectly fit the theme of the surroundings. The main lodge was clean, and we had an excellent experience at the restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive, with Ian standing out for his exceptional service.
However, there are a couple of areas that could use improvement. Adding an elevator or ramp to the Sequoia Lodge would be helpful, as getting to the second floor was a challenge for older guests. In fact, my husband and I helped a few guests with their luggage as they were struggling with the stairs. Additionally, the women's toilet in the main Wuksachi Lodge could use some attention. Despite visiting multiple times, it consistently had a bad smell that really detracted from the experience.
Overall, we loved the lodge and would recommend it, but these improvements would make future stays even better!
The best place in the park to stay. Great location between the different sequoia groves. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good restaurant for breakfast, lunch / or dinner. Be sure to make reservations for dinner ..... " it's a must!" and make them in advance! The rooms with two queen beds is the largest two queen bed room we've ever been in. It accommodated four adults with plenty of room, very impressed.
Outstanding location in the middle of the park. Great access to Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Lodge was fine. Rooms are in a separate building but close. Restaurant, patio and lobby are great for where you are. If you’re visiting the park then staying here is markedly preferable to anyplace else in the park or outside. E.g. it took an hour to drive from the lodge to the entrance gate of the park.
We had a great 3 day stay at the Wuksachi Lodge. ||The location is in the park, and this alone is worth the price. Most of the area accommodations are outside the park at the bottom of the weavyiest road I've been on. Extra Dramamine required. ||We booked the premium suite for the extra area. Glad we did as this it was unusually warm in October, and only that room category has A/C. Noisy as it was, it was welcomed at night. You cannot open the windows, so being on the second floor the heat rises. ||There is a separate den with a sliding door, so one person can sleep while the early bird makes coffee. ||We were surprised that there was cable tv with a number of stations. Just enough wi-fi band to get by. I wouldn't stream 'Gone with the wind' off it though. ||The room had a huge extra comfortable king bed and two sofa sleepers, so it would easily accommodate four. ||The room was very nice, for 'national park luxury'. Not the Ahwahnee, but a step up from the Yosemite Lodge. Nice view of the forest. Plenty of deer, chipmunks and birds about. Someone saw a bear family down the road a bit. You have to be careful not to leave anything tempting locked in the car. ||As everyone notes, it is a small uphill slog from the parking lot, and stairs if you are on the second floor. There are plenty of luggage carts and even a valet who offered to help. ||It's a 5 minute walk to the lodge where there is a restaurant, small bar and food takeout window if you prefer to eat on the outside patio: Very nice. We brought all our food so we wouldn't have to worry about it. The room had a microwave and the usual hotel size refrigerator.
What an incredible location!
The only reason I'm giving 4/5 in the Room is because ours didn't have AC. It has a window fan that you can plug in & put in the window. It wasn't a problem for us since we visited in October, but people need to be aware of that if they're planning to visit in the summer.
Other than that small detail, the lodges & rooms are clean, beds are comfortable, food at the main lodge is tasty & fairly priced, the staff is friendly & helpful, and the location within the park is gorgeous.
Hats off to the chef!! We only stayed here one night but drove back here 40 minutes through Kings Canyon just to have our last meal at the lodge because our dinner and breakfast was so delicious! Biggest regret is we didn’t have a chance to try the pizza due to our limited stay. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. I thought about this place weeks after leaving. This is a cute lodge with such a relaxing atmosphere. Remember this isn’t The Four Seasons this is an older lodge but we were fine with the rooms, they were clean and served their purpose. I loved leaving the window up at night for some cold fresh air to sleep in.
