Best WLM Reviews

overpriced frozen and reheated garbage ???? case in point the pictured soup dumplings were 10.99 and also contained no soup. 40$ total for some mushy flavorless bao and a bowl. if i wasn't on ozempic i would have starved to death. go to panda express if you want half decent chinese american fast food.
I have never left a review but they were rude, and the portion size is tiny and cost me $12!
Wow bao not so wow. All you can taste from the spicy pork is the heat and unknown mushy paste. Cha siu bao never looked so dark. Skin dough was mushy. Disappointed ????
For a quick bite before you go on your next adventure in Chicago, check out Wow Bao????
Yes, the portions are small, but the food's good. ???????????? Get the pot stickers, and get a lot. That one bao in the bag? it's smaller than you imagine. It's gone in one bite????
Oh! don't forget the chicken bone broth. Lemongrass, ginger, lime, it's very hot and flavorful. Perfect non-caffeinated pick me up ????
Even tho there is no Asian face in the restaurant, but I must admit it doesn’t matter unless you are looking for authentic homemade food. Workers are polite. Environment is good with upbeat music. However, I can only give a 2 or 3 star for the food. It’s very much Americanized in flavor. It’s sweet in each kind of BaoZi I got. Bowl of rice looks like it’s from Chipotle. Maybe because the chef is Hispanic? The bun dough doesn’t taste like the ones from Chinese restaurant or even the ones you heat up from store. The Mongolian spicy beef is the worst. Somehow the ginger flavor is way too strong, and I cook ginger in my food all the time. Anyway, I won’t recommend you to come here to experience the culture. But for some quick bites other than normal fast food, it’s a try.
Good food for the price! Good variety of bao fillings and their combo meals look good too. I prefer more filling, but I understand that they have machine made baos. Love the bamboo steamers! Convenient kiosks outside for ordering and a nice space inside; clean!
Awful, and an embarrassment to the once reliable Lettuce Entertain You brand. There is never anyone at the counter. You may see someone back near the steamers, either texting on their phone, food prep gloves on, or leaning against the counter, chatting with the other person on the clock. If they eventually deign to walk over and take your order, before you walk out in annoyance (about half the time), they will mumble that your order will take “about 7 minutes,” because not enough customers visit this place enough to warrant steaming buns ahead of time, ever. They have exactly one vegan / vegetarian bao, the same one they have offered since the dawn of time, despite their website claim that “life is too short for uninspired food.” It is an edamame bao. Most of the time the bottom is wet from inept steaming, and the bottom falls out as you lift it, but the top of the bun is OK, if a tad dry. I once also tried the Spicy Peanut Noodle Salad, which came pre-wrapped in a mound of plastic, was ice cold, like it had been kept in the back of the fridge for months, and was shockingly bland; it seems like it would take skill and effort to make peanut butter and hot sauce taste like nothing at all. The restaurant itself is always dirty and vacant, empty coolers sitting as a sad reminder of times past, when someone cared enough to try. The soda fountain on my last two visits was out of order. Why do I keep trying, you ask? Because there are no other places to stop if you’re waiting on a green line train at State and Lake, or running to a show at the Goodman Theatre and hoping for something to tide you over. You might find yourself in a similar situation downtown. You might get lucky and find someone willing to take an order. Godspeed.
Fast food Chinese joint similar to Panda Express. I think the food was great but not the best Chinese we had. We ordered a combo menu where we had kung pao chicken and 2 baos. I like the ease of placing an order and the time it took for them to make our food.
