Awful… I’m not sure about the islands taste buds but this is not barbecue food. We got a sampler and make it a meal. The pulled pork was dry and needed sauce. The ribs had no flavor, all meat seemed to be needing sauce and seasoning, not salt, seasoning… the chicken smelled off. The Mac and cheese was wet and not cheesy. Should be baked Mac. Beans were okay, seemed canned and Coleslaw/cornbread was the most palatable. Made my husband throw up and I had a stomach ache.. would not come back!
My family loves this place a lotttt, we used to come when i was younger, I think around 1st grade, and I remember coming and always enjoying it! Throughout the years this place is still memorable, and has kors of fun things to do. I don't remember how the food tasted when I was a kid, but I remember liking it. Now as an 18 year old, I still like the environment and all that, its very nice in general. I didn't like the food my family got. I disliked the sauce on the ribs & the chicken, but I think thats my own tastes tbh because all of my family loved it. The corn bread and mac and cheese were my favorite! The corn bread wasn't dry at all! And the mac and cheese was really good!
The prices here have gotten outrageous and therefore we will simply not be back. We have a place on the island so we would come here frequently. However, some of the meals we typically order have gone up $6 or more in price since just last year. In doing the math, everything on their menu has increased by a minimum of 20% since last season, some things more than 25%. A large french fry is now $11.99 and it is half the size it used to be. Before when you ordered a large fry, it was a brown paper bag filled full for $9.99. Now they put them is a metal meal container with so much less food at a higher price. I understand costs on everything have risen, but a 20% increase seems extremely steep, especially when we’re expected to tip 20% on the food we’re already paying 20% more for. While the food is good, we feel as though we no longer get our monies worth.
Ribs were hard and dry. I had a couple of bites and threw it in the trash where it belongs.
Pic attached…I’ve never seen ribs served like that before.
Smash burgers are supposed to be thin and on the crunchy side, but you could see through this one and it had the diameter and consistency of a hockey puck. For $12, you'd expect something better. The fries were soggy. The pulled pork was OK...nothing to write home about and not worth the price.
In town for the day and unfortunately I guess it's the off season because a couple places we wanted to try were closed. We decided to come down to this area since there were a lot of options and hoped something would be open. This one was, despite not appearing to be. Only has standing tables near it but picnic tables are across the parking lot so no one was around outside. Service was really fast and friendly. Ordered the classic pulled pork sandwich, fries and a fresh lemonade. It was ready before I even finished paying. The sandwich had a hearty amount of pork on it, and was very good. Could have used a little more sauce, but that could just be personal preference too. Ordered the medium fries since they said that would be good for 2...I think it would be better suited for 4, there were a lot of fries! And they were delicious as well. The lemonade was good too. All in all a great experience. Glad we tried it!
Seriously GOOD food! Their BBQ is spectacular! The ribs fell off the bone with a breath. They sauced them already, which I normally don't like, but it didn't hide the rib meat flavor. The sauce was good too. The chicken was the same way, but I found myself dredging the meat through the sauce anyway. The pulled pork had a perfect porcine flavor, and no sauce added! Again, you can dip it, but it's amazing on its own too. Great place! I'd definitely go again! (P.S. Don't miss the peach lemonade either!!)
I’m local(ish) and if I’m ever in the area, I always stop at Woody’s. Great barbecue & chicken. Excellent baked beans. And their new smash burgers are fantastic!! You can tell they’re made fresh. Such a great vibe at that place!
