The food, drinks and service was excellent! I'm so glad my girlfriend picked this spot for lunch. I definitely will be back!
Haven't been in a while. Now that I know they have some of the best she crab soup I will stop more often. And the tacos were so good. Service was good. All games were playing on the t.vs. Bar was pretty full.

I'd love to comment more about ANY service they offer here at this location, but from what I can tell, they don't need business as no one seats you to take an order. (Chesapeake Sq. Mall location)
So, the food I know from previous visits (to both locations) is typical bar food ranging from mediocre to pure shirt.
They wait staff is more interested in "regulars" they fish tips from.
This location, well, we all know Chesapeake Square Mall is a lost cause and won't be around long so do the math. You'll get what you came for at this location... N O T H I N G .
She Crab soup and Fish Tacos were excellent. Soup was hot and included lumps of crab.
The Cajun seasoned chicken tacos was delicious and tasty!
We stopped by here because it was closest to our BnB and so glad we did. The beer was cold and the food was amazing. We had the steak tips, cheese curds and fries with Cajun ranch! Micah was our server and he was fantastic! We never asked for refills and he was keys so friendly. I’m back in Florida now and still craving those dang steak tips! Gotta try this place y’all, you won’t be disappointed. Don’t forget to ask for Micah!
What a treat! I was in Chesapeake doing a job and touched base with a couple of old friends. I wanted to go grab a bite, they suggested Woody's Bar & Grill. I don't drink so I was a bit suspicious of what I was in for, it's a bar, how good can the food be? I should've known better after eating at The Sports Page in Midlothian, several times, but that's another review. Oh yeah! Pretty danged good as it turns out! Plus, we sat outside, a little intense on the fly front, not their fault, but it was so relaxing overlooking the water, watching the fish in the creek, the heron and ospreys trying to catch the fish in the creek, hey, it was dinnertime after all, dinner with a show as it turns out. All of nature's children came for a bite to eat. The traffic from Chesapeake Boulevard just kinda disappeared way, wayyyy into the background, between the influence of the casual, nature reinforced ambiance and the really good food, not really good bar food, just really good food that would stack up to any good restaurant food. The steamed shrimp, to me, danged near perfect. The mussels were a little too steamed for me, not much though, the little necks rocked! The sashimi grade tuna was almost perfect, a little dryer than I like it but still really good. I had the Wings also, it was their hot hickory smoked version, they claimed it was really hot..... but I tend to be a bit masochistic in the spicy hot foods world. Scorpion Pepper and Smokin Ed's Carolina Reaper kinda pain. Not to his level of heat, still, a far cry above what the average person will submit themselves to. Great flavor though, with a really good cook!
Do over level??? Absolutely!
We've lived in Portsmouth for 2 years and just now got around to going to Big Woody's. My loss evidently. Plenty of she crabs in the she crab soup. Just enough sour. And the burger and tots were great.
