The food was good, the price was good. The amount of food was impressive. Give the fried corn bites a try. Those are very good. The service was even better. I gave low marks on the atmosphere because the place is looking a bit shabby, The building is dirty and the place can use a good cleaning. To be fair, the area has been under road construction for a long time, but that is mostly done.
Server was very attentive. My two boys and I ordered the “Taste of Woody’s.” Server came back, said they were out of brisket. Said we could get extra ribs, so we did that. Our plates came with two ribs that were tender, but zero flavor. Tasted like it was boiled six hours earlier. The sliced turkey and sliced pork was cold and tough. Don’t know what happened to the chicken, wasn’t on any of our plates. The fried okra was nearly burnt with no flavor. This was in the evening, place was nearly empty. The beans were good. Expected a better quality of food for the price.
We stopped in for lunch on a Monday about 1:30.
We were greeted by a nice staff.
I ordered the lunch, baby back ribs with coleslaw and collard greens. It came with an onion ring, and a nicely toasted piece of Texas bread.
The food was very good!
My wife ordered the daily special which was a pulled pork sandwich with fries.
She said it was very good. I tasted the fries which were cooked properly, but needed salt.
We had water and coffee. The coffee tasted really good.
The bathrooms could really use a good cleaning.
The floors and the walls were dirty.
This is a real Cole Slaw southern style with excellent flavor and creamy also, excellent flavor, to the Lake whales community ????
If you are a BBQ connoisseur, do not go here. The bbq pork completely lacked any flavor. The sausage links were store bought and tasted charcoal grilled like I was at a tailgate. The collards were dry, under cooked and completely lacked flavor. Worse BBQ I’ve had in a long time.
RESPONSE: It sounds like you are discrediting the validity of my experience at your restaurant. Further, the sausage that you state has not been served in several months was served to me on 01.07.24. Are you admitting that your staff served me old/out-dated sausage? That doesn’t seem like a very responsible thing to admit.
Secondly, your server was extremely busy. When I approached to pay and was asked how the food was, I relayed that the food was awful. I specifically made a point to have the cashier tell the chef to just try the collards. The cashier stated “we are not allowed to eat any of the food”. How do you assure quality if you do not allow the staff to try the food.
Finally, after going through reviews and your responses, it appears as if the quality at this restaurant has gone down significantly and it is evident in the recent drop in your average ratings. It may be time to take a look inward and stop trying to discredit the individual customer’s experience.
Sorry to say first and last tie we will visit. Went with a family of six and I wanted a good burger. Ordered our food of chicken strips, burger and three Taste of Woody's which is $60 by themselves. The waitress who was very kind came back and said that they had no burgers so I ordered pork. She then came back and said that there was not brisket which is the best on the Taste of Woody's. In its place they gave us and extra rib on each plate. The brisket is the most expresive meat on the plate and there was no adjustment to the price. The ribs were good but the turkey and pork was cold. It is not like it was closing time it was 5:30. After we ate part of the meal we realized there was chicken on the three plates. $60 for these meals with no brisket and no chicken. We paid $100 to eat here and it will never happen again. They say if a restaraunt is empty do not go. I should have followed that rule.

Stopped in for lunch on our way to Tampa and it was the best barbecue food I’ve had in years. The baby back spare ribs were unbelievably good as well as a barbecue beans coleslaw and garlic bread. I highly recommend stopping in if you’re passing through.
Old building that needs care bathrooms very poor and dirty. Got the the taste of Woody's entree. The meats were very dry with not much taste meats were very fatty. There are only two BBQ sauces on the table both were not good. Waitress are friendly, prices are a bit high for what you get. I will not return and do not recommend this BBQ restaurant.
