Best WLM Reviews
My recent stay at this hotel was very unsatisfactory. The rooms had an unpleasant smell, which made the experience uncomfortable from the start. Additionally, the beds were in very poor condition, and the mattresses were extremely uncomfortable, making it difficult to get proper rest.
The service and attention from the staff were also not up to par. It seemed they were not willing to help or make the stay more pleasant, which significantly impacts the overall perception of the place.
It’s a shame that a place with potential has so many shortcomings. I would strongly recommend urgent improvements in cleanliness, room furnishings, and, most importantly, customer service, so future guests can have a more positive experience.
Oddly enough, overt hostility wasn’t listed as an amenity when I booked my room at WoodSpring Suites. However, the employee on the night shift managed to add it, free of charge! I arrived for a prepaid reservation, only to be told my name wasn’t in the system. The front desk employee was evidently clairvoyant, confidently insisting my reservation didn’t exist—without so much as a glance at the computer. When I tried to show her my confirmation email, complete with payment confirmation and reservation numbers, she refused to look at it. Her ‘customer service’ strategy? Keep repeating "We don't have a reservation for you. There's nothing here for you," as if sheer repetition would erase the fact that I’d paid for the room.
When my ride came in to see what the delay was, she stopped speaking to me altogether, refusing to make eye contact-as though ignoring me could erase my paid reservation from reality. Eventually, Expedia’s ‘racism after-dark’ refund policy returned my money, though it didn’t get us a room for the night. Instead, I spent nearly two hours—clock ticking on my by-the-hour movers—trying to find another place to stay. WoodSpring Suites might want to add, ‘Bring a backup plan for when we refuse to honor confirmed bookings’ to their website.
This was not just inconvenient; it was deeply stressful and upsetting, especially after an entire day of moving with my child, who has disabilities. If you’re into having your humanity disregarded when you’re already down, by all means, book a room! But I’d advise bringing extra patience, booking through a refund-friendly app, and maybe a backup reservation. I wouldn’t wish this mix of atrocious service and overt racism, served with such cold indifference, on anyone. It was beyond unpleasant—it was traumatic.
Please beware travelers! You get what you pay for! Although these rooms are a good price, you are better off staying at a Motel 8.
The room is an average size, but the beds are just an elevated cot. Very thin cushioning. You only get one flat pillow. You only get one change of linens so you have to pay for any others you need. No room service for 15 days.
You only get 1 roll of toilet paper so bring your own. You get only 2 towels so you have to turn them in before you get new ones.
Beds are so uncomfortable that you will probably lose sleep.
We came to visit my mother in law and we usually get a hotel because her home is very uncomfortable for us to stay in. This place makes her home feel like the Hyatt Regency!
You get what you pay for!
By far, one of the worst experiences I ever experienced at any motel/hotel. They charge you for almost everything, their excuse is that they have live in tenants so they need to charge for everything. The room was not the most cleaned and had a horrible smell to it. Two of three girls working were decent. The last lady we had to encounter, was very rude, seemed uneducated, had just a terrible attitude because I asked to be let in to the room we were staying to retrieve two bags that’s were left behind. I don’t understand what the big deal was but the lady got ghetto and confrontational and was just escalating a situation for no apparent reason. I’ve stayed at all kinds of 4 to 5 star hotels that have been nowhere as strict as this place. I don’t recommend staying here.
The worst part I was only visiting this city for the weekend. Moving forward I’ll only stay at the Country Inn Suites whenever I’m having to visit this city. Seems by far the best hotel this city has to offer. Because this one is just a no!
Update 09/09/2024
I would prefer a reimbursement for the canceled stay, actually. Manager, Suzy Serna, my boyfriend has repeatedly tried to contact you at the Pharr location but you and/or staff will not answer the phone.
Update 09/03/2024
Left my information with 2 different front desk workers for Manager to call me, since she was busy. I am still waiting for her to call me back.
I would definitely not recommend a stay here. Front desk was often nowhere to be found, during my stay. The room is very dated, the bed was a flimsy metal framed bed, and the floor in the bathroom felt as if it was going to give in. Really spongy. Scary. We Accidentally booked for the wrong date and canceled immediately and we're not returned that charge. Very disappointing.
I had a reservation thru booking.com for two night stay from the 8th-10th I made to check in at the very latest 11 pm we (my family) and my myself got to the hotel at 10:30 I enter called the front desk 500 number the receptionist answer stated she was up stairs and would come down she had WiFi issues. I was understanding of the issues. The receptionist never came down between sitting outside because the lobby was musty and humid. I was in front of the door to see if someone would open up to check us in. We sat and called for the lobby phone which would go and come service because it’s was either busy tone or no tone at all and when we called she would answer and act like she didn’t hear us on the other end when we got there we spoke. My cousin we also had a reservation here. Another gentle told us front desk won’t be of help. First red flag but it was a cheap price and that’s what I could afford. She also had a couple that was roaming and letting me know oh she’ll be done shortly and us hearing them conversation talking saying oh just cancel their reservation. We can get other people to occupy their rooms that were theirs. One hour thirty minutes went by so, I call wood springs them selves 844 number and got hung up on by reps name of Niki. Because she told me I called the GM and the receptionist and didn’t answer me so just call them and then if she doesn’t answer call back. I told her I don’t want to get charged if I’m not checked in. Results in a hang up from them. Then spoke with another rep and by this time I’m 3 hrs in on waiting for check in and my mom was able to talk with her she opened up the front desk and almost slammed my moms hand in the gate to close the front desk. I had to pay almost 300 more for another hotel stay at americas best inn. With this just pay the extra to get a decent stay with another hotel. Because from the GM to the staff are horrible in customer service. Woodspring suites is very horrible in customer service and have no common courtesy for their guest. Today I had found out management changed my reservation from 8-10 to 9-11 no way I made this due to me working on Monday and kids have to be at schools on Monday. So they charged my card a no show fee twice.
I am a single mom of a severely cognitively disabled child & through no fault of mine as of the 31st, when the event took place, we were homeless .I booked this hotel weeks prior& had a Confirmation# &emaiI.Upon arrival her attitude with me was immediately apparent. she said What's your name? I said it, without moving or looking at anything She proceeds to tell me.I don't have anything for u.I said, can u plz check again?I have a confirmation, & the hotel has been payed for tried to show Her on my phone both of these things. She refused to look at them at this point The taxi Came in& the hotel clerks entire demeanor immediately changed. I'm going to point out now that both of these women are white &I & my child are black. I asked her again if she would please Just look at the numbers &the emails I was showing her to prove that I indeed had A Reservation, She did a lot of eye-rolling/sighing &leaning back in her chair& refusing to even look up anything. The mover then approached the counter Ask to see my phone& try to explain just like I had that I indeed had a reservation. She then tried to show my phone to the receptionist. Who promptly looked at it when I asked her Why she was the only looking at the phone When the mover was showing it to her, her response?it was simpler to talk to her. At that point she began to not even look at me nor respond to me or acknowledge that I was there because of this whole ordeal. I had to pay the mover's more money so that we wouldn't be left on the side of the street. In order to try to find us another place to pay an extra $72 for an emergency Stay at a day'sinn because it was 4 AM at this point & no one else was letting us in. I then had to book another hotel in the same company in a completely different town & pay $ to get to there as well. Financially, it put a strain on me as things are already very, very difficult. But emotionally it was absolutely awful & I have absolutely zero doubt that it was rooted completely in racism
Go ahead and "share it with your team to help you inprove" knowing dam well you won't
THIS HOTEL DESERVES -5 STARS!!!! OMG where do I begin. This has to be the absolute worst place I have stayed in. Please note, we were unaware of this being an extended stay place as it was not advertised that way. IT IS NOT A HOTEL, more like a halfway house! The room is extremely outdated and could really use some TLC! Entering the room, there is an old white rusted refrigerator with a microwave and outdated counters. My room had spilled coffee on the counter and splattered coffee on the walls. The bathroom is functional but has the smallest cracked sink and counter top. The shower head is rusted and water pressure is HORRIBLE! Let’s just say everything in the room is old and very dirty looking. Supposedly the bed is full sized(more like a twin xl). The mattress sits on top of a metal bedframe and it feels like you’re sleeping on rocks. Extremely squeaky and uncomfortable. The only 2 good things I can say was that the air conditioning works well and the water got very hot. At the end of the day, we got what we paid for. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!
