A large German Roach welcomed me home when I walked into the room. There was another Roach on the wall next to the bed area light switch. The bedside lamp is missing the bulb. The floor was not vacuumed with large crumbs throughout the room. One of the dresser drawers is missing the facing. The refrigerator and interior light do not work. I have to keep my food in the freezer, which is barely cool. I didn't bother to open the microwave. Disinfecting every surface, doorknob, and hard floor. Checked in late and will see if another hotel is available tomorrow. The housekeeper did her best to make the room welcoming, but the condition and upkeep are the responsibility of the maintenance manager, general manager, and owner. Shame on you! I will not be back and will share my experience with everyone I have an opportunity to. This is not my first stay with this chain. The Miami property management took care of their property.
This hotel isn't even worth one star. We arrived to Gainsville after a long drive to check in to Woodspring Suites for my fiance's graduation at Univ of Florida that evening. Upon giving my name and confirmation number, I was told there were no more available rooms, and we were on our own to find something else. I asked to speak to the manager, and when Amanda Myers came out, she was BEYOND rude and offered ZERO help. Before leaving, I asked to use the restroom, and was told it was locked and they lost the key.
In a way, I am glad this hotel had no more rooms, because I would not feel comfortable staying here. Everything was dirty and run down.
PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE!
Checked in and checked out within 1 hour. Has live and dead German cockroaches. Bed “blankets”.. were stained with I don’t want to know what, and floors were sticky as if they were cleaned with diluted soda. My white socks were nearly black by the time I walked from the bed to the bathroom. The halls and the elevator had dirt and trash as well. I was willing to overlook most of it due to the price (you get what you pay for) but a cockroach infestation is too much. I’d have taken more photos but I wanted to get out of there asap. I’d rather sleep in my car than spend 1 night here.
Do not waste your money!
I would give it a negative 10 if I could! The whole building smelled like a clogged, unflushed toilet. I was in room 123 and the walls were covered in dirt and stained. It smelled even worse than the lobby. The sheets were yellow with brown stains. Nothing was cleaned. When I tried to call the front desk, the phone would disconnect.
Corporate was no help, either.
Again, please, do not waste your money.
Reserved a room via phone. Was sent confirmation email about check in date/time, provided card number to hold room. Drove 4 hours to get to the hotel only to be told I had no reservation in the system - and once she found it (30 minutes later), was told it was for the following date , although I had numerous emails from choice hotels providing me a confirmation of check in dates and check out date / times etc… then she wanted to cancel that reservation and make me a new one but they would be unable to give it to me for the price I had reserved it for- I was going to do that but the entire time I was at the front desk attempting to make the reservation she continued on talking to her co worker and helping other people instead of finishing up my reservation. I got fed up and decided to leave -I would pay a little more money and stay some where else, then have to go through all of that.
(Room 123) The room I was in is filthy! Nasty animal hair all over the restroom wall. The toilet was cleaned properly, plus that had the wrong tank cover on it. The bathroom door had no door on it, all you see is the hinges smh. The shower handle was taped up and make it hard to maneuver it to get a decent shower. The TV remote damn near don't work! They don't have the right TV controls inside the rooms. It was miss a bedside lamp. The sink was nasty, the all the faucet needs proper cleaning. The walls around the bed needs to be wipe down, and inside the side table draw needs to get cleaned properly. The air vent inside the bathroom was so dirty you can see the struggle of the fan blade smh. You can see the wires under the AC unit has wire parts expose smh. Plus! There's no iron and iron board inside the room.
The hotel looks good from outside. It has ample parking and it’s in a great location close to I-75 and nestled between Gainesville and Williston.
The lady working the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. She kind of looked out of place. Like she truly belonged in a 5 star hotel in a cosmopolitan city.
The first room we got the key to smelled like a cigar lounge, and that’s not even joking. It straight up had the smell of a thousand stogies all lit up at the same time. My friend disliked it very much and requested a room change. The reception desk clerk immediately reassigned us another room.
Right off the bat, the second room hit us with the strongest incense smell very similar to that of an Asian temple. It was very intense, to say the least; but the worst part was the nasty roach infestation. There were dozens of tiny and small roaches on the floor and walls. I was able to kill two half-inch roaches, but then when we looked at where the wall and the corner of the floor meet, I think that was the moment we decided to walk out…who am I kidding, to run out as fast as we could. My friend had to stay elsewhere.
Based on location, structure, and staff, WoodSpring Suites has a lot of potential, but there are several things that they should work on immediately: hire the services of a professional bug exterminator, get quality mattresses & update their furniture and decoration, and most definitely renovate their bathrooms.
Normally I don't have much of a complaint, however the room I had was bad! So nasty I barely stayed 5 hours in there, before I had to quickly check out! What a waste of my money, time and gas. Smh
