Best WLM Reviews

WARNING!!! DO NOT STAY AT THIS PLACE!!! It is the worst motel. They have kids running in and out, cats up and down the hall, people shouting, nasty rooms, roaches also the night guy tried to come in the room without knocking once we got in to check the room out and then he was unlicking the door. We didn't even unpack...we left. I called and talked to the assistant manager and she was ok with these conditions what I spoke to her about. She is very rude and I have no idea why she haven't been fired! Please do not stay at WOODSPRING SUITES IN SHELBY NC. You will thank me
The moment you open the door it smells bad, definitely marijuana mixed with a dirty, mist odor. People in the front desk area were very disheveled. Lady at front desk was rude, and denies people the right to stay/check in after their hotel room is paid for based on a non advertised policy that the hotel made up. But they allow druggies to stay there. Awful place. Do not waste your time going there, reading the other reviews she saved me the time I’m complaining and getting my money back anyways.
DO NOT STAY HERE!! I (stupidly) booked a pre-paid room based on the website photos, and it looked *nothing* like the website.
I arrived to find a guest checking in and screaming at the front desk person (she was very nice, never lost her cool while being shouted at), but otherwise didn’t see anything too bad at first. The hallway smelled like old cooking oil and cigarettes, and the room had a really strong, weird smell— at first, not so bad that I couldn’t deal with it, but just smelled off. The mattresses were old and sunken in, counters had burn marks, and the vinyl floor was bubbling up in spots, but the surfaces looked like they’d been cleaned and the sheets appeared tidy/fresh. Because we were just staying for the night and checking out early the next day, I thought I would just tough it out. Bad idea— should have trusted my first instinct that it was not going to be a safe place to stay!
As I was heading out for an event at the local high school, I stopped at the desk to ask a question. There were two really sketchy men standing at the desk chatting with the clerk and their conversation abruptly and awkwardly cut off as soon as they saw me enter the tiny check in room. (Again, not crazy bad, but very weird and concerning— the tone and the looks they exchanged left me feeling like they were definitely discussing something questionable.) There were some people in the parking lot who looked concerning, but I didn’t see any actual criminal behavior and I was in a hurry to get where I needed to be.
I returned to the hotel later in the evening, and the chaos out front and in the hallways was bad. I’m pretty sure one person was offering her “services”, and another man was offering his “substances”. But it was late and I was ready to just get some sleep. I couldn’t enter the hotel because my key card had stopped working and the front desk closed at 8–just no one there to help after that time, no number to call, just nothing, so if your key quits working or there’s another situation, you’re just SOL.
Fortunately, my teen had stayed in the hotel while I was at my event (and I worried about him being alone there the entire time…), so he was able to let us in. There were people standing in the hall by the elevator with a large dog who were shouting at each other and were possibly inebriated/under the influence as they had been standing there for some time waiting for an elevator without having pushed the elevator button. As we were settling in, I noticed that the blinds were broken, and since we were on the ground floor, you could see straight into the room (and with the hidden location of this place and the questionable clientele, it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest to find people peeking in the windows). We were getting ready for bed when my kid noticed two roaches crawling out from under each bed. That was it for me— I found a different hotel paid $250 for a last-minute booking and got away from this nasty place as fast as I could.
The whole place just felt like it was a likely spot for human trafficking, someplace you would stay if you needed a location where people would look the other way. I’m sure there were good people staying there who were there because it was what they could afford, but there were ABSOLUTELY many people there because they could do things that would not be allowed in a normal hotel.
If I could give zero stars, I would. The only positive thing I can say is that the desk staff person was friendly and nice and tried to help us quickly and efficiently (except, of course, that the front desk person was not available when we needed them when we were locked out!). Nice staff person, but This is not a place I would ever stay again.
Although the staff were very nice, the building itself was very dirty. We found roaches and stains on the bed and walls of our room.
I wish I had read the reviews before I stayed here. There is definitely a roach problem - there was one hanging out in my toilet when I got into my room. Gross. The rooms aren’t clean. You can see remnants from past guests (like hair in the shower). Neighbors were horribly loud, even past 11pm. Would never stay here again.
Its ok it's a little pricey but it's a good place to stay if you need to.
I’ve been staying here for a month while renting 2 rooms because I have 5 boys well I’ve been told to leave by 3 today when I went and paid yesterday she was so nice the manager Ashley for one since I’ve gotten here she’s had a rude attitude and doesn’t need to be the manager and for 2 it says in the state of nc the law after 14 days you’re a tenant so she can evict me. I can’t go anywhere until I get my money back I want a refund and also will be calling whoever I have to. I wouldn’t suggest nobody stay here it’s very unprofessional and the manager is a very rude woman and has a horrible attitude. I would give it 0 if I could because of what I’ve had to go through since I’ve gotten here I’m paying 1000.00 a week for 2 rooms. So refund please.
Would never go here again. The people up stairs who rent weekly(i have no problem with that). But They had music blasting at 1am til 9am. I had to call front desk 3 times. I got 30 minutes of sleep. And had to drive that morning like a zombie.
