I’ve loved living here! Never had any issues. Staff in the leasing office & the maintenance staff are always so nice & helpful! Maintenance is quick to fix any issues! Quiet, kid friendly neighborhood. Pool is always nice to go to on a hot day! Love that the ice cream truck comes down here to during the summer. Great elementary school zone & just all around a great experience! Close to all the major roads, tons of local businesses! Neighbors are all nice as well! Sad to go but need something bigger now. If you want to move here don’t hesitate! You won’t regret living here.
I’ve made so many phone calls and emails about ppl hanging out in their wide open lobby and they laughed in my face!! And these ppl don’t even live there!!! Open the door to a smoked up lobby burnt carpet ,pot and cigarettes smell!!! Woodsdale doesn’t care about Ypur Health! Nor your safety!! Refused to put a lock on the lobby door or key fob to keep random ppl out that’s trashing their property!! Look at the pics! This has been going on for months now! And see the pick of the door the crack around it? Well AALLLL That smoke goes right into your apartment! And the fan I reported doesn’t work numerous times in the dining room and they been avoiding fixing that too!! My god I’m so glad I’m leaving here! IS THIS HOW YOU WANNA LIVE??????
I lived here for two years and moved due to getting another job in the DC area. I lived in one of the vinyl floor apartments and lived on a third-floor unit. My time here was generally good. I had no plans to stay in Harford County long term, so this worked for me since I didn't want to live in a luxury building and just wanted something decent. Decent is the best word for Woodsdale in my view. Here's my complete thoughts of Woodsdale:
Things that I won't comment on:
- Rent is individual and your ability to pay rent is individual. I think an average two-bed goes for about $1500. For some that's overpriced and for some that will be cheap.
- Neighbors. Each building has about twelve units so you may have all great people or terrible ones. I had a mix and had no problems with my neighbors.
- External amenities: I never used the pool, tennis court, basketball court or grills. They looked pretty functional to me and I know the pool was popular.
What was exceptional:
- There probably isn't a more centrally located apartment complex in Harford County. You basically have everything you need within in a fifteen-minute drive. Wegmans (2 minute drive), BJs/Target/Walmart (5 minutes), Downtown Bel Air (15 minutes), APG (20 minutes).
What was great:
- The maintenance guys were stellar and responded relatively quickly. I had routine issues and they were resolved routinely. Also, the sketchy guys that were on the crew are no longer there, and the new guys are all stand-up people.
What was good:
- Apartment/building amenities were adequate and I had never had any major drama with the laundry, kitchen, or bathroom stuff.
- HVAC worked well and you have full access over it. I rarely put the heat on (it doesn't get that cold in MD) but used the AC a lot. It cooled down the apartment very well.
What was okay:
- Bugs. I had a minor firebrat issue the entire time. This I didn't really mind since they were harmless. I did have some roaches mostly in the spring and summer. The situation never got crazy (the max I ever saw in one week was three) but I think Woodsdale could do a better job of pest control and renovating the buildings to ward off pests.
- Safety and security. This is a generally safe place to live and I felt fine walking around at night. The police drive through frequently and I never heard of something crazy happen. That being said, I did have a couple neighbors involved with some sketchy people and since this is an open community, there was nothing preventing these sketchy people from hanging out in the parking lot or hallways. Lastly, I did have a couple packages stolen from here over the couple years I lived here, which was a headache. The office does allow you to mail it to the office for security, which is what I did a couple times.
- The office staff. They varied from cordial to company-line and rude. I tried to not interact with the office when I was there since they weren't very accommodating lol. They did return my full security deposit which was cool (I had minor wear and tear but you never know), but I think some customer service training is needed.
What was super bad (I've hit the character limit):
- Winter maintenance. I'm from New England and have seen some pretty rough storms. Maryland doesn't get a lot of snow and I had to drive into work after a minor snow. The parking lot was not plowed until 8am and nothing was shoveled. Also, there were ice patches on
- The AC was very loud. I'm pretty sure I have hearing damage lol. If I was playing games with friends online they could hear the HVAC. I think Woodsdale needs to renovate their HVAC in general since the AC does its job well but was loud and not energy efficient.
- No emergency power. We had a major storm during a summer and lost power. There are no emergency generators for the hall lights or parking lot, so it was pitch black around the entire complex, creating a very unsafe environment if you left your apartment for any reason. Luckily the power was restored by the morning but returning from dinner to a pitch black apartment complex was not fun.
I just moved in within the last week. I talked to the front office about some issues I had they had their maintenance guys over here really fast. The one I want to give kudos to is their carpenter. He is the bomb. He is awesome.
I have spent 4 years living at Woodsdale Apartments. If you are someone who doesn't need a lot of amenities this might be the place for you. HOWEVER, I unfortunately cannot recommend this community. In my 4 years living there i never made one late rent payment, bothered the maintenance, or complained to the office about noise or trouble in my building (which there was a lot of). Whenever I had to deal with the office staff it was simply a horrible experience. I gave a notice that I needed to move out because of work and because it was a day late (literally one day) they auto renewed my lease and the older woman who works at the desk told me "Well, you should have read your lease." Okay, that one is technically my fault, contract is contract. I stayed for 9 more months and finally had to move because my commute was too long. I paid a months rent, then an additional 2 months rent when i moved out. A month later i received a bill in the mail for 40 dollars and saying i would not be refunded for my security deposit because the carpet was "Stained, heavily soiled, worn and matted THROUGHOUT THE UNIT." Which is not true. I am leaving pictures in the comments, and you be the judge. Michael at the office did call me back but could not help me. They simply wanted to replace the carpet (which wasn't new to begin with) on my dime. I could go on about things that went on etc. but i will simply end this review with there are much better alternatives in the area. Please do not move here. Thank you for reading my review.
Wonderful Experience at WoodsDale Apartments in Abingdon.
I recently moved into WoodsDale Apartments and I must say that my experience has been fantastic right from the beginning. The leasing office staff, Nicole and Jan, have been amazing. They were extremely transparent throughout the application process and lease signing, always keeping me informed and on top of everything. They were quick to reply to any queries or concerns I had, which I really appreciated.
The property itself is gorgeous and well-maintained. It's evident that the Jan ensures that the grounds are maintained with great care. I had a very minor issue when I moved in, but the maintenance team, Michael and Terrell were incredibly efficient. They were at my apartment correcting the issue in less than an hour.
Overall, I am thrilled with my decision to move to Woodsdale Apartments. The professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail displayed by the leasing staff and maintenance team have exceeded my expectations.
As we all know, first impressions are important and it's clear that they prioritize resident satisfaction.
I highly recommend this community to anyone looking for a great place to call home! Robyn
I, Margaret Bowser Richardson, am happy to be a resident here. The leasing office staff are very pleasant. and can't do enough for you. They will go above and beyond in their effort to get you approved and settled in your new apartment. It's quiet here and the location is great. The living room and bedrooms are a good size. The bath&half and nice size balcony sealed the deal for us. We are very happy here.
The dog park is the nicest thing theyve done for this community.
A lot of things have problems but I’m hoping this stops all the off leash dogs. I am grateful for this.
