Best WLM Reviews
A coworker and I decided to try this place during lunch to get a quick bite to eat at a new restaurant that opened up by our work.
TLDR: Overall it was an alright experience. The service was nice, but slow. The food had its highs and lows. I always try to make it a point to give every restaurant a second chance so I will probably go during dinner sometime since many reviewers have touted their food for dinner.
Mood/Ambiance:
We entered, and the decor and interior was definitely unique. It seemed like it would be a place that you could get a nice lunch or dinner.
Speed/Service:
Our waitress was very nice, but not the fastest. She knew that we were on a lunch break from work and proceeded to remove dishes and do other stuff, rather than get us our bill so we could pay and leave. It also took a while for the kitchen to get us our food which was less than ideal since we were 2 out of 10 people or so that were even in the large establishment.
Food/Quality:
Since it was restaurant week, I decided to try one of their appetizers (the perogies). I love perogies and had very high expectations for these. They were pretty good, but two things bothered me. 1) They were definitely a little on the salty end (which seems to be common on Woodhouse Kitchen + Bar's less than stellar reviews). And 2) The yellow sauce that came with them legitimately confused my coworker and my taste buds. We had to ask our waitress what it was and she said it was their take on a sour cream.
For lunch itself, I got a standard burger and fries. I enjoyed those, but again... it was a definitely on the saltier side. My coworker went with their kabob special and ordered it medium-rare. He let me try one and it was not cooked very well... probably closer to medium-well.
I was very happy with my meal. It was everything I could want in a vegetarian dish. The others in my party weren't as impressed.
The hostess treated us like we were lost and coming in for directions at first. We were definitely dressed down for the weekend but that's not an excuse.
Over All: I was not very impressed with the place. 3/5
Service: I think they tried very hard to get us good service but were only able to give us a 4/5.
Food: The food looked like it was made from scratch but there wasn't anything on the menu I would go out of my way for. The menu was pretty limited. 3/5
Ambiance: It felt all very missmatched. The outside did not match the inside. The inside felt like they had poured money into it but fell short of a professional looking interior decoration.. it was kind of busy. 4/5
Value: I felt like it was a expensive for our experience. 3/5
If I go back again I'll ad more to this review. It is very conveniently located for me and that is the only reason I would go back at this point.
A shout out to my vegan peeps about this place. The manager at this fine establishment went above and beyond to be sure my vegan meal was to my satisfaction. And Boy the chef here is just amazing. I had an absolutely delicious vegan meal that the chef created. Just full of flavor and his own flair of pizazz added. Just mouthwatering at every bite. The service was excellent and the ambiance in here was fantastic with its open space and nicely done wood interior. This is now my go to place whenever I am in Ohio. My coworker had a meat dish and he was very impressed with his meal also. If your in this area I highly recommend you give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed.
The building is nice... the food is good... the service sucked... the prices are way high... I have never payed $4.00 for bread and butter. I had the fish and chips which was ok but not great - they give you the same amounts of ketchup, vinegar, and tartar sauce - guess which you run out of first? And the waitress disappeared and no tarter sauce for me... not worth the trip....
Food priced to high small 1 page menu. Order kebabs and received 3 small pieces of chicken (like grilled chicken nuggets) no vegetables. Food looks appealing but the taste was not up to par. Make two members of our party feel sick, No side dishes come with the entree. $38 for a rib-eye steak. Everyone taste tested at our table and 4 votes were all the food was not that good when it comes to taste. Our server was not very good and she only had 2 tables side by side.
The restaurant itself is very beautifully decorated and nice atmosphere. We stopped at 8 pm on a Saturday evening and the place was empty. Should have been a sign.
Woodhouse was an absolute delight! It's a newer restaurant over by The Beach, from the outside it looks like a normal restaurant but the interior has a high class ambience. Our server Jonathan provided attentive service without being over bearing. We had a fairly large party but their kitchen handled it smoothly. I only took a few pictures but everything we ordered was stunning and delicious. Their hummus had a surprisingly bright and vibrant flavor none of us had had before. We also had the mushroom dumplings which were so well liked we had to get a second serving. I ordered the salmon and it was incredible, moist and flavorful with perfectly complimentary sides. My father in law is vegetarian and really wanted the stroganoff which unfortunately has a meat base so they made him a dish off menu containing local seasonal veggies and a fresh sauce. We will certainly be back again!
Overall very good and excellent customer service. The Brick Chicken compared to the Mushroom Stroganoff. Really liked the chicken better, you get a lot on your plate. The Stroganoff thought was pretty bland. Appetizers would suggest the pierogies or the bread for something light. Rhinegiest Truth went well with the chicken.
